In a stunning turnabout, 50 Cent will notch the lowest chart debut of his career next week when his long-delayed Before I Self Destruct lands at #5 on comparatively soft sales of 160,000. After his first two albums hit #1, selling 872,000 (Get Rich or Die Tryin') and 1.15 million (The Massacre), and 2007's Curtis sold 691,000 following an infamous chart battle with Kanye West, this fifth-place finish is a major comedown.

Who bested the once-dominant G-Unit General? According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Twitter-lover John Mayer's Battle Studies took the top spot with sales of 286,000, followed by My Christmas by tenor Andrea Bocelli (185,000), the debut of Norah Jones' rock-tinged Fall (180,000) and Christian rock group Casting Crowns' Until the Whole World Hears (167,000).

New York — 50 Cent has been on a high-octane promotional run for the past few weeks to support his latest effort Before I Self Destruct, and on Monday night, the hulking rapper ended his trek where it all began, on the streets of New York.

Flanked by his G-Unit family and hundreds of fans who waited outside in the cold to catch a glimpse of the entertainer, 50 Cent made good on his promise to deliver a good show at Manhattan's Highline Ballroom for MySpace's The 50th Release show.

G-Unit's Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo were first up to bat, bouncing back and forth, exchanging raps as fans waited for the main event.

50 Cent certainly can't be accused of not speaking his mind.

Late Monday, the G-Unit general phoned in to DJ Green Lantern's Sirius Satellite radio show and discussed the lukewarm early sales for his latest LP, Before I Self Destruct — and Jay-z's possible dig at him during Sunday night's American Music Awards. During his acceptance speech, Jay said, "Men lie, women lie — numbers don't," and then burst out laughing, which many perceived as a response toward 50's recent baiting of Hov.

"He's said that before," 50 said. "I didn't really take that as disrespect. If you wanna be disrespectful, just be disrespectful. Once we start I'm not gonna stop. I'll make you aware of that, 'cause I'm not the type of guy that goes away. So if that's the kind of energy we getting ready to go into, »

Even 50 Cent Thinks Pattinson is a Rock Star

Believe me, I was just as shocked as you are to find this tid bit of information out. In an interview with MTV News rap artist 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) gave his thoughts on an enormous crowd of "Twilight" fans. The interview correspondent asked the artist whether he agreed with fans that "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were indeed rock stars. 50 Cent replied saying that the crowd felt like rock star energy and that anybody who denied the fact was probably a little bit jealous. We have a short video inside because we knew you guys were going to want proof. Seriously though, did 50 Cent just give somebody a compliment. In any case, read on for the video and be sure to check out "Twilight: New Moon" in theaters Friday, November 20.

50 Cent and Val Kilmer Reteam for Jesse Terro’s The Gun

17 November 2009 10:10 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Did anyone besides myself watch the Eugene Hess scripted, Charles Winkler directed 50 Cent/Val Kilmer cop thriller “Streets of Blood?” Anyone? I didn’t think so. Although it wasn’t unbearable, it certainly wasn’t a memorable experience. According to Variety, 50 Cent and Mr. Kilmer — also known as the Second in Command of straight-to-video action flicks — will reteam for director Jesse Terro’s “The Gun,” which is scheduled to begin filming sometime next month in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The article also blames Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for the script, so if you have any issues with the material whatsoever, you know exactly who to address your letters to. However, I strongly suggest keeping your opinions to yourself. Randall Emmett, George Furla, Richard Jackson, and, yes, Curtis jackson, will all handle producing duties. “The Gun” follows a pair of life-long friends as they gradually become entrenched within the shady world of illegal arms dealing. »

50 Cent first decided to make the Before I Self Destruct album about three years ago. Coming off the heels of 2005's mega-seller The Massacre, Fif wanted to keep slaying 'em with another assault on the streets. However, a creative surge hit him early in the process, and he decided to bench Destruct in order to make the collaboration-heavy Curtis. In the interim, a few tracks intended for Destruct hit the Internet and mixtapes, and the full album was recorded and scrapped twice before he finally settled on the current incarnation, which was released on Monday.

"Well, this record is almost a prequel to Get Rich or Die Tryin'," 50 said of the album's feel. "The content is coming from situations I've experienced prior to when I created Get Rich or Die Tryin'. »

50 Cent: Too Cool To Self Destruct

16 November 2009 2:36 PM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Of all the artists that pass through the MTV headquarters here in New York every week, there are few that bring the same level of excitement to the building that 50 Cent does. With his fourth studio album Before I Self Destruct set to hit stores, the G-Unit General is hard at work on the promo trail talking about everything from music to his rivals. Interviewing 50 never gets old. He has as much charisma as he does bottles of Vitamin Water in his fridge, so whenever he comes in for a big sit-down interview you never know what to expect.

It's an interesting time for 50. He's nearing the end of his five album deal with Interscope, and he appears to have come full circle, as the aggression of his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin' is matched only by the new album. Despite having a reported $300 million in the bank and an empire that spans clothing, »

Rapper superstar 50 Cent is suing a hip-hop website for using his image without permission. The "In Da Club" hitmaker has filed a lawsuit against WorldStarHipHop.com for allegedly using his pictures on its homepage.

The hip-hop star, real name Curtis Jackson, told Atlanta's V103 radio station in an interview that he filed a suit against the website for copyright infringement.

He said, "A lot of people feel like that was my site coz they see my face on the cover."

"But Q (Wshh founder), you see, you should really be nice to me. Because you're not nice to me, I'm not nice. I have lawyers on retainers and I have to pay them so much money anyway, so we'll go back and forth to court until [they] can't afford a subway sandwich."

50 Cent Wants To Star In A Rom-Com

5 November 2009 11:26 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

What a fantastic world to live in where being lackluster at something makes you millions of dollars. I guess that's how much of Hollywood works, but 50 Cent makes a fortune being subpar at several things. He's a lame rapper. He's a lame actor. He's a lame clothing designer. He's even a lame gangster. Yet, somehow he's financially successful at each of these things. Curtis Jackson hopes to bring his mediocre acting skills to something that's already mediocre: the romantic comedy. Talking to Glamour, the rapper expressed his interest in starring in a rom-com. "I'd do a romantic comedy if I liked the script," he said. "But it has to be believable and I have to feel I can bring the character to life." Imagine that. 50 Cent in The Proposal as Sandra Bullock's assistant. I'd be all over that. What exactly 50 means by "believable" isn't clear. He could either mean »
