After serving in the Air Force, he joined veteran publicist Henry Rogers to form the Rogers and Cowan agency. It soon became the biggest Public Relations company in Hollywood, representing Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Cary Grant, Clint Eastwood and Doris Day.
