Films Distribution has sold French zombie movie The Horde to IFC Films in the Us and to Showgate in Japan. What started as a small zombie movie ended up as a bestseller, said French sales outfit Film Distributions Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, who added that he is close to a Korean deal. The film, which was shown in official selection in Venice Days in Sept, is directed by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher. It follows four corrupt cops on a rampage in a condemned building who collide with hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures. It was also produced by Frontier(s) director Xavier Gens. Reviews and word of mouth have been highly negative. I can confirm (ugh). »

In a word, it’s gonna be intense. In even more words, it’s gonna be a hybrid of “Assault on Precinct 13″ and “Lord of the Flies”. Or at least that’s what the full synopsis for the movie is selling. Our main characters look to be Eva, a young woman, and her weakling of a boyfriend name Sam judging by the description below. Styd has your synopsis while Bloody-Disgusting scored the artwork from the movie, which is currently making the rounds to potential buyers at the American Film Market. Director Xavier Gens, best known within the genre for Frontiere(s), is following up his harrowing little horror film (Hitman doesn't count) with a hearty slice of post-apocalyptic nuttiness, and we have some art and the plot crunch for you.
Synopsis
Director Xavier Gens follows his $99 million grossing ‘Hitman’ with The Fallout - a high concept post-apocalyptic thriller that opens with pandemonium and a chaotic sprint towards the basement of a New York apartment building, just moments before the city outside is decimated…
When a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, a converted fallout shelter designed by their paranoid superintendent Mickey. With just three connecting rooms it’s barely big enough, but with stockpiles of food and water, the group are at least safe from the horrors outside, and they settle in and attempt to fathom the catastrophe that has »

French helmer Xavier Gens, who spilled buckets of blood in "Frontiere(S)", is set to direct "The Fallout" next for ContentFilm International. Plot details are scant at this time, however, the project is set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic New York and carries shades of "Assault On Precinct 13" and "Lord Of The Flies". The story was scripted by Karl Mueller who also penned "Shelter", a project ShockTillYouDrop.com last reported on in 2007. Ross Dinerstein, Darryn Welch and Tony Krantz (of the direct-to-dvd Raw Feed series and "Otis") will produce. Gens recently shepherded the upcoming zombie film "The Horde". Shooting begins on "The Fallout" early next year.... »

You won't be leaving the Vault and using V.A.T.S. to dispatch the irradiated menaces of the Capitol Wasteland with the guy who directed Hitman (starring the delectable Olga Kurlyenko, of course). But French filmmaker Xavier Gens is making something called The Fallout, a post-apocalyptic action-horror flick described as "a thriller that combines elements of Assault On Precinct 13 with 'Lord of the Flies' in a story of survival." Producer Ross Dinerstein says:... »

“Hitmen” director Xavier Gens is taking a trip to the future. The post-apocalyptic future. Which, in case you’re wondering, is nowhere near as pleasant as the not-apocalyptic future. Gens has signed on to the direct the movie “The Fallout”, described as a futuristic thriller that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world set around a New York apartment building that has been turned into a shelter by the survivors. Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, who co-wrote the script, will co-produce the film. The article doesn’t mention if this is an adaptation of the videogame franchise called “Fallout”, which you may have seen commercials for. The general premise of the movie and game is similar, but “Fallout” the game has a vastly more complicated storyline than just a bunch of people trapped in a New York building-turned-shelter. Plus, the game has always been more action-adventure than thriller. Producer Ross Dinerstein »

The wonderfully sick mind behind Frontière(s), Xavier Gens, is set to return to the genre (sort of) for The Fallout, a post-apocalyptic thriller set in a futuristic New York City. Unlike his adaptation of the Eidos video game Hitman, this one isn’t an adaptation of the long-running RPG series of the same name.
Screen Daily reports that producer Ross Dinerstein stated, "Xavier’s vision for this film is extraordinary. He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition."
The film is a mixture of Assault on Precinct 13 and Lord of the Flies. "With a collective of ‘End of the World’ movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous Pit Bull in a school playground… brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!” said producer Darryn Welch.

Screen Daily reports that Xavier Gens (pictured), the French director of the bloodfest Frontier(S) as well as the actioner Hitman, next takes the helm of Fallout. The project is described as “a thriller that combines elements of Assault On Precinct 13 with Lord Of The Flies in a story of survival.”
Scripted by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, who are also serving as co-producers, Fallout is set in and around an apartment-building-turned-shelter in a postapocalyptic New York City, but will lens in Eastern Europe beginning next February. ContentFilm International has just picked up worldwide sales rights, and Ross Dinerstein, Darryn Welch and the Raw Feed DVD series’ Tony Krantz are producing. “Xavier’s vision for this film is extraordinary,” Dinerstein tells the trade. “He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition.” Adds Welch, “With a collective of ‘end of the world’ movies hitting the theaters presently, »

The same year that Inside took me to horror heaven at the Toronto International Film Festival, Xavier Gens' Frontier(s) was also delivering infinite gory bliss. After getting behind the camera for Hitman and producing the lackluster (ok, abomination) The Horde, Gens is returning to the directors chair with The Fallout. On the eve of the Afm, ContentFilm International has taken worldwide sales rights to action thriller The Fallout to be directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman). The film is due is due to start principal photography in Feb 2010 in Eastern Europe, reports Screen Daily. The Fallout, set in a post-apocalyptic New York, is produced by Ross Dinerstein (The Killing Room, Powder Blue, Unknown), Darryn Welch (Goal! The Dream Begins,The Bang Bang Club, Stag Night), and Tony Krantz (24, Mulholland Drive) and was written by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean who will also co produce. »

There's been a rumor for ages now that a movie version of Fallout, the massively popular video game, would be getting made soon. Because, well, duh-- it's popular and a video game, so the movie can't be far behind. But even though Hitman director Xavier Gens has a new movie coming up called The Fallout, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the video game, Yeah, I see a name change coming. Screen Daily reports that production will start in Eastern Europe next spring, where they will recreate a post-apocalyptic New Yorkand let a bunch of dudes run around shooting each other there. Producer Darryn Welch had some pretty big words to defend the film against anyone else who would dare make a post-apocalyptic movie (i.e., pretty much everyone these days). .With a collective of .End of the World. movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will »

After previously directing Hitman and at one point being rumored to direct the new Conan movie, it looks like French filmmaker Xavier Gens' next project will actually be The Fallout, set to start shooting in February, 2010 in Eastern Europe (via ScreenDaily). The film, being produced and sold by ContentFilm, is set in a post-apocalyptic New York. Story details haven't been officially revealed yet, but it's being called "a thriller that combines elements of Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival." From the mind of the guy who brought us Frontier(s), this project sounds like it'll be something very unique. "Xavier's vision for this film is extraordinary. He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition." producer Ross Dinerstein said. I'm always ready to see a post-apocalyptic action thriller, even when it turns out to be something like Babylon A.D. Call me an eternal optimist. Even the lousy films often have a kernel of a good idea in them. Now a new film called The Fallout, set in post-apocalyptic New York, will shoot early next year. But I'm already a bit detached from it after reading the directorial assignment. Helming will be Xavier Gens, the man behind Hitman and Frontier(s). Put pretty simply, Gens has two strikes against him in my book. Hitman may have featured Olga Kurylenko's severe allergy to clothes and a heroically stoic good try from Timothy Olyphant, but it was truly a mess. (Granted, the post-production on Hitman was contentious, with reports of Gens being fired from the film.) And Frontier(s) recycled elements of other films in a way that left me bored. »

Xavier Gens went from busting out of the horror film with Frontier(s) (yay!) to making Hitman (yeesh). The movie-making biz ain't easy, but at least Gens is getting back to where he belongs. ScreenDaily reports that Gens will be making the post-apocalyptic thriller The Fallout next February in Eastern Europe, which will naturally fill in for New York.
Written by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, The Fallout is described as "a thriller that combines elements of Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival." So wait, everyone gets trapped in a police precinct but no one can talk unless they're holding the conch?
Say "post-apocalyptic" and we think "zombie." It's not unnatural to assume so, especially when producer Darryn Welch says something like this: "With a collective of "end of the world" movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out »
