X-Files star David Duchovny has revealed that he would like to play a villain in Doctor Who. BBC Offers $3M To Keep Tennant On 'Doctor Who'

18 July 2008 11:33 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

BBC seems serious about keeping David Tennant in the title role of "Doctor Who," and it seems the network is now willing to offer the actor £1.5 million, or just under $3 million, to keep him there. The series, which continues to be one of BBC's most-watched scripted programs, already is undergoing a number of changes over the next couple years. "Doctor Who's" fifth season has been delayed until 2010 to accommodate Tennant's stage schedule -- he's set to play in "Hamlet" with "Star Trek: The Next Generation" alum Patrick Stewart -- and executive producer Russell T. Davies, who brought "Doctor Who" back from near death, will leave the series after a group of "Doctor Who" specials that will film later this year to be aired in 2009. Tennant is contracted to appear in those specials, ...

'Doctor Who' finale pulls in 9.4 million

7 July 2008 2:59 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

The hotly-anticipated climax to the fourth series of Doctor Who brought in huge ratings on Saturday night, according to early figures. The 65 minute special, in which the Doctor did not regenerate, leaving David Tennant in the titular role, was watched by an average of 9.4m (45.9%) from 6.40pm. The show's popularity has continued to grow since it was revived by BBC One in 2005. Last year's finale drew 8m, when John Simm made a guest appearance as The Master, and in 2006 the final instalment attracted 7.7m (43%). Last Christmas the show enjoyed its best ratings since 1979, drawing a peak of almost 14m for its festive special, which guest starred Kylie Minogue. This year's finale, 'Journey's End', is the last series close to be made by Russell T. Davies, who has overseen the show's comeback. The audience peaked in the final 15 minutes with (more)

Review: 'Doctor Who' - Journey's End

6 July 2008 6:53 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

The following contains Major Spoilers for "Journey's End," the fourth season finale of BBC's "Doctor Who." After the ending of "The Stolen Earth," it didn't look like David Tennant and Billie Piper were ever going to get the on-screen reunion that has been building since the beginning of the fourth season. And while their get-together is most certainly a joyous one, gone is the momentum that propelled "The Stolen Earth" with such intensity, and in its wake are false promises, an overly convoluted plot filled with Trek-style techno-babble and a Tardis load of throwaway lines. Still, at least there wasn't a reboot. Last week's "The Stolen Earth" was a magnificent convergence of all things Whovian, as "Doctor Who," "Torchwood" and "The Sarah Jane Adventures" all come together ...

Davies watched 'Who' finale 15 times

6 July 2008 11:34 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Russell T. Davies watched the Doctor Who finale 15 times before it aired, he has revealed. "There are probably about ten of us who have watched it - including David (Tennant), who was cast as the tenth Doctor in 2005, and Catherine Tate, and that's about it," the writer and producer said in an interview before the show went out.

"The controller of BBC One has not even seen it, or the head of drama, because it's been locked away. But I have seen it about 15 times. "I'm busy at the moment, but I had an hour off yesterday at 3pm and I watched it again because it is such an exciting episode. And I will be watching it (more)

Davies: It's Ok If David Tennant Leaves 'Doctor Who'

4 July 2008 11:24 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

This story contains Major Spoilers for the fourth season finales episodes of "Doctor Who" which have yet to appear in the United States. In what might be considered one of the best "Doctor Who" cliffhangers of all time, David Tennant's 10th Doctor is mortally wounded and the final seconds have fans seeing him go into regeneration mode. But is this truly the end of Tennant's work in "Doctor Who"? Outgoing executive producer Russell T. Davies won't say for sure, but he tells The Daily MIrror that "Doctor Who" will go on with or without the star. "I love David, and he is brilliant, but I was a child when Jon Pertwee handed over to Tom Baker," he said. "I was 11 when Jon Pertwee left and it broke my heart. But then along came Tom and he was just spectacular in it, so I suspect that ...

Bb Stu vs. Bb Dale

2 July 2008 3:19 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

John Barrowman fought valiantly last week, nabbing an impressive 206 votes, but he just wasn't able to compete with the mighty David Tennant, who polled 229. Will anybody ever beat the Doctor? Anyway, this week's contest is as much a Body Off as a Face Off, with Big Brother's brawniest housemates going head to head in pursuit of your votes. Something tells us it's going to be a close one.

Review: 'Doctor Who' - The Stolen Earth

30 June 2008 10:10 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

The following contains Major Spoilers for "The Stolen Earth," the twelfth episode from the fourth season of BBC.s "Doctor Who." This isn't an episode of "Doctor Who," this is the end of all things and the continuation of the legendary Time War. As Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) very quickly confirms, "The Stolen Earth" is "a little bit bigger than south Wales." There is chaos on a global scale as the new Dalek Empire very quickly emerges from a pocket in time and begins its invasion of Earth and all of The Doctor's (David Tennant) hidden army are called forth to do their bit to protect the Human race. At times, the episode is almost a Doctor-lite episode, but thanks to the all the companions of the modern day series, it works wonderfully as "Doctor Who," "Torchwood" and "The Sarah ...

'Doctor Who' Finale To Be 65 Minutes Long

30 June 2008 4:55 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

This story contains Moderate Spoilers for episodes of "Doctor Who" that have not aired in the United States yet. The final regular episode of "Doctor Who" until 2010 is so big, BBC has had to allot a bunch of extra time to fit it all in. The fourth season finale is clocking in at 65 minutes, nearly double the length of a normal episode, which will include appearances by actors from two of the "Doctor Who" spinoffs, as well as Billie Piper as Rose Tyler and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. "Stolen Earth," which served as the penultimate episode, had the Daleks and their creator, Davros, stealing the planet and then subjugating it. The Doctor, played by David Tennant, was shot and injured by a Dalek, and was in the process of regenerating when the cliffhanger hit. Although there's been ...

David Tennant vs. John Barrowman

Last week's battle was fought to the death, with Matthew McConaughey managing to overcome Josh Holloway by just eight votes. We reckon Matthew's unwavering commitment to getting his chest out gave him the edge. Anyway, this week's Face Off is a duel between two sexy sci-fi stars who've saved the world more times than we'd care to mention. Have you got it in you to choose between them?

Review: 'Doctor Who' - Turn Left

25 June 2008 9:43 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

The following contains Major Spoilers for "Turn Left," the eleventh episode from the fourth season of BBC.s "Doctor Who." Have you ever wondered what would happen if one little decision in your life changed ... if you turned right instead of left in the most normal of days? Well, Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) had a chance to find out. And the rest of the universe paid the price. Instead of being the traditional Doctor-lite episode, "Turn Left" is a wonderful chance to see the life of Donna had she chosen a different path and never met The Doctor (David Tennant). Thanks to a ridiculous looking prop that presumably was liberated from Sesame Street, the whole of creation was altered. Donna never went to work as an office temp, she never got engaged and she didn.t help defeat the Raknoss. ...

Review: 'Doctor Who' - Midnight

16 June 2008 7:15 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

The following contains Major Spoilers for "Midnight," the tenth episode from the fourth season of BBC.s "Doctor Who." Think of "Midnight" as a short break from the tightly plotted drama as both The Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna (Catherine Tate) go on vacation. But in true .Doctor Who. fashion even the most normal of outings becomes something altogether sinister. The episode lacks the same kind of twists, turns and character plotting and instead makes up for it with nail-biting intensity and suspense. What is the mysterious creature that knocks on the door and which unsuspecting traveler has become a host for a dark entity? Where .Midnight. excels is in providing a psychological mind bender as everyone very quickly succumbs to cabin fever and the darkest Human natures begin to surface ...

David Tennant's relationship with his Doctor Who co-star Georgia Moffett could be nothing more than a fling, according to a report. The actor's romance with Moffett, who plays his on-screen daughter on the sci-fi programme, was exposed by the press this week after the pair were spotted leaving Tennant's home together. However, the Daily Mail claims that Tennant has wooed "at least five and probably more" members of the show's cast and crew since he took over as The Doctor in 2005. He is known to take his conquests back to the St David's Hotel in Cardiff, where the series is filmed. A source told the newspaper: "David may not have the looks of Brad Pitt, but he is an absolute genius when it comes to impressing (more)
