- Mystery fans will get their Edgar Allan Poe fix on the big screen sometime in 2010. Screen Daily reports that Genius Products (the Weinstein Co.'s home vid label) have picked up the U.S. rights to Tell-Tale and they might bring it to the cinephile market. Michael Cuesta is still a little know filmmaker with L.I.E. (2001) and Twelve and Holding (2005), but "Dexter" fans would most certainly recognize the name. Written by Dave Callaham, this is a modern-day reimagining of the Edgar Allan Poe classic "The Tell-Tale Heart". This sets Poe's haunting tale against the backdrop of modern science made his money in the real estate business. Josh Lucas will play a single father whose recently transplanted heart leads him on a frantic search to find the donor's killer before a similar fate befalls him. We have just discovered from our sources that director John Singleton has his next project and its not the A-Team as reports would have lead you at one time to believe- even though they are filming that movie now; but is a comedy concert film.
We discovered that Singleton has decided to film comedian DeRay Davis’ stand-up performance (yet to be titled) and release it nationally, and not as a DVD for the video store but as the first stand up film in years to be released theatrically. As of this writing, rumor has it that the film will be shot next month.
Davis, you may recall, recently featured his comedic performance in Shaq’s Comedy All Stars on Showtime and was in several films such as Imagine That (starring Eddie Murphy), Semi-Pro (starring Will Ferrell) and Code Name: The Cleaner (with Cedric The Entertainer) just to name a few »

A Tribeca Film Festival entry, Tell Tale is a film without a home. Even with Ridley and Tony Scott on board as producers, this loose take on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" still awaits a U.S. release even though it has shored up distributors all over the world. What's the problem - the movie isn't good. It's silly and dry. Nevertheless, a domestic one-sheet has been whipped up showcasing stars Josh Lucas, Brian Cox and Lena Headey. Lucas plays a man who gets a heart transplant which puts him on the path of a murder mystery. You can watch a clip from the film here . »

Actor Josh Lucas's childhood terrors have left him too frightened to watch horror movies - even if he is in them.
The 38 year old has starred in a string of scary films, including Brad Anderson slasher Session 9 and 2000 thriller American Psycho.
But Lucas admits he is too terrified to sit through any gory scenes and won't even watch his own work.
He tells the New York Daily News, "I won't see scary movies. I've been in them and then I've been like, 'Whoa, this is too scary for me!' I guess I've held on to those little childhood moments - when you're in the dark and there's a rattle outside your house and you're thinking there's a monster under your bed." »

There is, apparently, some bit of a problem on the acting horizons for two Canadian talents - Ellen Page and Michael Cera.

Ellen Page and Michael Cera, the Juno duo who until recently were our brightest new cinematic lights from sea to shining sea, and also all points south of the 49th Parallel.
Halifax's Page parlayed her precociously preggers title teen in Jason Reitman's hit film into a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars, a rare Canuck achievement. Brampton's Cera came to Juno already a star, having already lit up screens here and stateside in the super-popular movie Superbad and the cult TV fave Arrested Development.

It gives me no pleasure to report this, or to baldly state the obvious reason why Cera and Page are currently floundering: typecasting. »

Deep in the heart of downtown Detroit, director Predrag “Gaga” Antonijevic is conjuring up a slice of the South. The much-lauded Serbian filmmaker is lensing the supernatural thriller Little Murder, his second English-language movie, in the Motor City despite the fact that it’s set in New Orleans, post-Katrina.
Antonijevic and co. are bringing to life the story of an alcoholic cop (Josh Lucas from Session 9 and the upcoming Tell Tale, seen in the exclusive pics here) who is observing a suspect (Iron Man’s Terrence Howard) from a house inhabited by the ghost of a murdered cellist (Lake Bell of TV’s Surface and Boston Legal). “It’s not an obvious plot,” Bell tells Fango, “but a strange little movie where every day that goes by, I learn more about what, tonally, we’re making. When you’re dealing with supernatural elements or spirits and things like that, »

Seeing the movie makes one wonder why no one has used the place before; not only is the overall building shaped like a bat (with long "wings" stretching out from the main structure), but it's chockablock with twisty corridors, dark, scary basements and a pretty scary history of patients abused with barbaric "treatments." Anderson and Gevedon have come up with a great starting premise: A group of men arrive at »
