Nicole and Hugh Head Home to Premiere Australia

18 November 2008 10:30 AM, PST | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Nicole Kidman had two handsome Aussies by her side at the premiere of Australia in Sydney today. Costar Hugh Jackman posed with the actress for a photo call before they hit the red carpet at the Musem of Contemporary Art. While Keith was there for moral support, Nicole talked about how hard it was to leave baby Sunday back in Nashville. It sounds like being a mom again is having a pretty big effect on Nicole, who also mentioned that she'd consider giving up acting to continue expanding her family. She said, "In terms of my future as an actor and stuff, I don't know. I mean, I'm in a place in my life where I've had some great opportunities – but I may just choose to have some more children." It's hard to imagine Nicole just stepping out of the spotlight, and with a handful of new projects already in the works,

Australia’s Oscar Chances: Does Oprah’s Endorsement Matter?

17 November 2008 2:00 PM, PST | From Spout.com | See recent Spout news

Oprah Winfrey can certainly create a best seller when it comes to books, and her pick of the presidential candidates is on his way to the White House. But can she get behind a movie and contribute to its success? 20th Century Fox seems to hope so, because the studio apparently allowed the talk show host to screen an unfinished cut of Australia in preparation for her November 10 show, which featured the film’s stars, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, as well as a live-via-Skype call-in from filmmaker Baz Luhrman. Fortunately for Fox, Oprah raved about the film, and now the media has latched on to the endorsement, creating some much-needed positive buzz for the Oscar-hopeful. Yet there’s a big problem with all the excitement: Oprah’s film recommendations have hardly been sure-fire champs in the p ...

Hugh Jackman has claimed that his loves scenes with Nicole Kidman in Australia are "like poetry". Jackman said his partner Deborra-Lee Furness and Kidman's husband Keith Urban were not on set during filming, but insisted there was no jealousy from either spouse. Jackman Discussed Sex 'Boundaries' With Kidman

17 November 2008 3:59 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman outlined their "boundaries" before filming love scenes for their new movie Australia - to ensure they didn't get carried away with the romantic storyline.

Jackman teams up for a few steamy scenes with Kidman in the forthcoming epic, and insists their chemistry was so electric, the actors banned their real-life partners - actress Deborra-Lee Furness and singer Keith Urban - from the film's set.

The star tells People.com, "My wife is an actor. They both get it. But I don't think they want to be on the set watching the monitor!

"(Love scenes with Kidman) couldn't have been better or easier. We spoke of setting boundaries."

But the hunky star is confident the scenes will look tasteful on the big screen - because he believes director Baz Luhrmann is a true cinematic artist.

Jackman adds: "(Luhrmann) treats love scenes like choreography. The camera is like a dancer. If you watch any of his movies, visually, the love scenes are like poetry."

Hugh Jackman has revealed that he once wet himself while singing in a musical. The X Men star said he was suffering from dehydration before a performance of Beauty And The Beast and had consumed a lot of water to combat a headache. However, when he reached the stage, he realised that he needed the bathroom and would not be able to control himself once he hit a high note. He told Playboy: "I was like: 'Bloody hell, I need to go again.' I thought: 'If I sing this note, I'm going to pee my pants; if I don't, I'm going to be humiliated.' The actor in me took over. I was singing, thinking: 'Wow, I'm peeing my pants.' "When (more)

Still, filming love scenes with Kidman, 41, "couldn't have been better or easier," he says. "We spoke of setting boundaries." So did Jackman wear anything for the steamy scenes? Now another hot topic has arrived, featuring (once again, drum roll please!) Robert Pattinson! Is his performance Oscar worthy? Meyer says Aye! , some Oscar bloggers and readers say Nay! . Baz Luhrmann Kills Off 'Australia' Rumors

Filed under: Action, Drama, Romance, RumorMonger, Celebrities and Controversy, Scripts, 20th Century Fox, Newsstand, War, Nicole Kidman

Well, that was cleared up quickly! Just the other day, I reported on rumors flying about the ending of Australia, and claims that Fox had pressured its director, Baz Luhrmann, to change it. Luhrmann quickly informed The Sydney Morning Herald that the film's ending was entirely in his hands, bristling at the suggestion that it wasn't. "It's really simple: on a Baz Luhrmann film, I decide."

I'll fill in the spoilery blanks for you now -- rumors were that test audiences were quite appalled that Hugh Jackman's character, The Drover, died at the end of the film. Fox was certain that Jackman's tragic end spelled doom for the box office, but Luhrmann brushes off the rumors, calling them "naive" and "profoundly misinformed." He also points out that Fox would hardly have taken issue with The Drover's death,

Carrie and Brad Make the CMAs a Nashville Night to Remember

The red carpet was fun, but the real action happened on stage at last night's Cma Awards. Reese was out to present Brad Paisley the award for Male Vocalist of the Year while Nicole Kidman left Keith's side for a minute to give out a statue alongside her Australia costar Hugh Jackman. Keith didn't take home any statues but he did perform his new single to kick off the show alongside the hosts for the night, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Kid Rock brought a new edge to the show taking the stage with Lil' Wayne on the guitar. Shania Twain looked simply stunning. Carrie, who showed off many gorgeous gowns, scored Female Vocalist of the Year, but the night's big winner was Kenny Chesney once again — see

Jackman Buys $21 Million New York Home

13 November 2008 8:10 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hugh Jackman's acting success has helped him brush off the world's economic crisis - he has spent $21 million (GBP14.2 million) on a New York apartment.

The Aussie actor can now call a host of celebrities his neighbours in his new West Village apartment - home to the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen and Liv Tyler.

The 11,000-square-foot space boasts a double-height living room overlooking the Hudson River, five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two powder rooms, a professional kitchen, a 51-by-16-foot master bedroom, exercise, recreation and music rooms, a library, and multiple terraces.

But the hefty price tag was agreed upon only after Jackman, who had been renting a home in the building, talked down owners from the original asking price - a whopping $40 million (GBP26.9 million).

Listing broker Roger Erickson of Sotheby's had no comment.

Australia Bosses Deny Dispute With Luhrmann

13 November 2008 8:10 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Movie executives have played down reports that a feud with director Baz Luhrmann over his epic film Australia has put the project in jeopardy just days before its world premiere.

The Moulin Rouge moviemaker has spent four years filming the $130 million (GBP87.6 million) project, starring Australian actors Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman - who play lovers during the Second World War.

Luhrmann admitted this week (beg10Nov08) that he must fly from the U.S. to Sydney, Australia to finish editing the film, refuting claims studio bosses demanded he reshoot the ending.

A source who has reportedly seen a rough edit tells the New York Post, "Fox wanted more love scenes and development between Nicole and Hugh's characters, so they tried to splice that in. Now it's disjointed."

But a Fox spokesperson has denied the last-minute rift, adding: "It's far from a mess, and other than Oprah's (Winfrey) audience, who saw a rough, unfinished print, no one has seen it yet."

The film is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday.

Jackman Caught Short On Stage

12 November 2008 5:27 PM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hugh Jackman was left red faced during a stage stint as Gaston in Beauty + The Beast - when he peed himself in front of a packed house.

The Aussie actor started guzzling water before performances, to fight dehydration headaches, but it left him desperate for a pee during the show.

And one night, he just couldn't hold it in.

He tells Playboy magazine, "I thought, 'I'll be all right.' The number featured (character) Belle and me; I chased her around the stage, lifting her up, dragging her, singing the whole time. Then I realised, 'No way!'

"I was sucking in air, trying to sing and dance. I picked her up and realised I peed my pants a little. The very last note is a big time F sharp... (and) you have to release certain muscles to hit it, the same ones that allow you to hold on when you have to go to the bathroom.

"I thought, 'S**t, if I sing this note, I'm going to pee my pants; if I don't, I'm going to look humiliated. The actor in me took over."

Jackman thought he'd got away with it when he looked down and saw no trace he'd relieved himself onstage: "I thought, 'These red tights must be waterproof'. I was laughing as if I'd gotten away with it. But the audience was looking at me funny. It had seeped through and my pants were completely wet."
