Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender Trailer Delayed

4 December 2009 9:45 AM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

A quick update on M. Night Shyamalan’s next film, The Last Airbender.  A full-length theater trailer was expected to play sometime this holiday season in preparation for its July 2010 bow, but producer Frank Marshall says it will be delayed.

In a Tweet on Thursday, Marshall said “Not enough Ilm [Industrial Light & Magic, the effects company] shots finished, so Last Airbender trailer will not debut until Feb…”

This means the trailer will probably be attached to prints of Fox’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief on February 12.  You can watch the teaser trailer here, in case you missed it.

For fans of the animated television series eagerly awaiting the live-action version, Variety did a short piece on Noah Ringer, the 12-year-old actor who portrays Aang.  Shyamalan reportedly searched for a year to find the right person before choosing Ringer from a martial arts demonstration video he sent from Dallas.  The pre-teen has a black belt in tae kwon do, »

Robert Pattinson is starring in the number one movie right now, but sadly The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) will leave the theater and what will we have to look forward to? Luckily, there are two movies being released to a theater near you in 2010 and Rob is set to star in two others. First, in March of 2010 we will see Rob in Remember Me (2010). Then, in June of 2010, we will see Rob with his Cullen family when they return in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010). In a recent interview with MTV, Rob spoke about two movies that are in the works to be filmed hopefully in the winter/spring of 2010. In Remember Me (2010), Rob stars as Tyler who is dealing with a tragedy that has split his family and left his relationship with his father, played by Pierce Brosnan, strained. Tyler feels like no one understands him and what he is »

'The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond' Trailer Emerges With A Pre-'Eclipse' Bryce Dallas Howard

1 December 2009 12:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Ah, Tennessee Williams. It's always encouraging to see your plays adapted for the silver screen. There's "The Glass Menagerie." And "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." And of course "A Streetcar Named Desire," which has been both adapted and spoofed so many times, I've lost count.

Now we have "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," a work which I'm not terribly familiar with. It's apparently a "lost screenplay" of Williams', starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Evans. I'm not blown away by this trailer, but my parents actually caught a recent advance screening of "Diamond," and they thought it was quite good. So there's that. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself.

Spin-ematical: New on DVD for 12/1

Terminator Salvation

I suspect McG's movie will play really well at home, with the volume turned up and the surround sound explosions masking the lack of a compelling story and lackluster performances. Everyone from Christian Bale to Anton Yelchin to Sam Worthington to Bryce Dallas Howard was overshadowed by the special effects and the robots running rampant. However, at home you can walk in and out, pause, rewind, and replay -- and yes, freeze frame Moon Bloodgood's extremely brief topless scene -- without harming an essentially harmless movie. Rent it. Also available in a 3-disc Blu-ray edition, with theatrical and director's cut, alternate endings, featurettes, and more

Here are three probably fun-made movie posters for Twilight Eclipse, the third instalment in the popular vampire romance franchise.

Plot Summary: In “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Come Watch the Trailer for 'Loss of Teardrop Diamond'

30 November 2009 4:19 PM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

A little less than two weeks ago I featured the poster for Bryce Dallas Howard's The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond and now we have the trailer.

The film is a long-forgotten Tennessee Williams screenplay starring Bryce Dallas Howard as Fisher Willow, the disliked 1920s Memphis debutante daughter of a plantation owner with a distaste for narrow-minded people and a penchant for shocking and insulting those around her.

After returning from studies overseas, Fisher falls in love with Jimmy (Chris Evans), the down-and-out son of an alcoholic father (David Strathairn) and an insane mother who works at a store on her family's plantation. She tries to pass him off as an upper-class suitor to appease the spinster aunt (Ann-Margret) who controls her family's fortune, but when she loses a diamond, it places their tenuous relationship in further jeopardy.

Review: 'Terminator Salvation' on Blu-ray

30 November 2009 3:37 PM, PST | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

There’s no doubt that when James Cameron made the first Terminator movie in 1984 he figured on telling his story and moving on. Little did he know that 25 years later, it would remain a cultural touchstone spawning sequels, a television series, books, comics, and stuff.

Wisely, Cameron also knew when it was time to move on. Coaxed back for the sequel, he delivered a high-octane action thriller that also pushed the limits of movie technology as we marveled at some of the earliest CGI that had our collective jaws drop.

After the ownership got passed around like a bowl of potato chips, The Halcyon Company now controls the destiny of SkyNet and their progeny. Earlier this year, they offered up Terminator Salvation, moving the story to right after Judgment Day in 2018, but before someone thought to send Kyle Reese back in time. The fourth feature, therefore, is both a sequel »

'Teardrop Diamond' Finally Finds a Trailer

27 November 2009 8:32 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I was convinced this day would never come... I first wrote about The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond over three years ago when the forgotten Tennessee Williams screenplay got tapped for a feature film. Lindsay Lohan was set to star in it, before her heaps of turmoil turned her career sour. In 2007, Bryce Dallas Howard stepped in to replace Lohan, and in 2008, we finally got a still from the film. Now the movie has quietly swam through the festival circuit and is slated for release at the end of the year, which means we finally get a trailer, which you can see after the jump, courtesy of Coming Soon.

The trailer can certainly send you back in time, but maybe not to the right time. The whole thing reeks of 1980s Hallmark melodrama, from the scenes to the text and somber voiceover. Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Fisher Willow, a »

New Trailer For The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond

26 November 2009 2:53 AM, PST | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

Breathe a sigh of relief - we have the trailer now for the curiously under-anticipated film based on the long-lost Tennessee Williams screenplay, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.

Chris Evans and Bryce Dallas Howard star in this period drama with Ellen Burstyn. The film is helmed by actress-turned-director Jodie Markell.

The story follows the young and rebellious débutante Fisher Willow, who tainted by family scandal, boldly hires farm hand Jimmy Dobyne to be her gentleman escort for the lavish season party. As Fisher's passion for Jimmy grows, she defies social convention and the burden of history to risk everything for the chance of real love. However, when the loss of her Aunt's priceless diamond sets off a series of accusations and betrayals, it threatens to shatter their hopes for a future.

Bryce Dallas Howard In The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond Trailer

25 November 2009 1:01 PM, PST | The Cinema Post | See recent The Cinema Post news »

Considered a “lost” screenplay, this is an original screenplay from the legendary Tennessee Williams which will finally see a release at the end of the year.

The film tells the story of Fisher Willow (Bryce Dallas Howard). After returning from overseas, she falls in love with Jimmy (Chris Evans), the son of an alcoholic father and an insane mother. She does everything in her power to pass him off as a wealthy suitor so that she can appease her family, especially her aunt (Ann-Margret), who controls their fortune and who would deem Jimmy completely unsuitable based on his family’s background. Fisher, however, realizes she has lost a diamond, which might put her relationship in jeopardy. (Wikipedia)

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond Trailer

25 November 2009 9:27 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Having recently heard about this movie for the first time, I wondered why it seems so much like a secret. The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond is made from a Tennessee Williams screenplay that Elia Kazan never produced. It would almost be like finding a long dormant Mozart piece. Well, that’s not a perfect analogy, since a screenplay merely provides the structure. But then again, how did a director whose only directing credit is a short 1998 film called Why I Live at the P.O. come into possession of it? Apparently, it was found amongst the author’s papers in 1983 and was acquired by a film company called Paladin. That’s all that a quick Google search will yield. Coming Soon has the exclusive trailer for the film, which stars Bryce Dallas Howard in 1920s Memphis as Fisher Willow, a woman of high class who is frustrated by the corruption around her. »

Lost Tennessee Williams Project Reborn

25 November 2009 3:30 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

There's a baffling lack of fanfare here for something this long in coming. Filming wrapped on The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond in 2008, the first new production of a Tennessee Williams screenplay in 40 years, with a strong cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Evans, Ellen Burstyn and Ann-Margret, yet it's only being released in the States at the end of the year.According to Coming Soon, Williams was due to hand the script over to his A Streetcar Named Desire and Pretty Baby director Elia Kazan, but Kazan moved onto other projects. The script follows Mississippi socialite Fisher Willow (Dallas Howard), who in trying to get one-up on her corruptive and greedy father, hires her father's employ Jimmy (Chris Evans) to be her escort to a swish family party, which she has to attend if she stands any chance of inheriting money. It might not hit theaters till next year, but we're bringing you all the vital details early!

Nowadays, "New Moon" is tearing apart box-office records like a Cullen feasting on a freshly killed deer. With the "Twilight" sequel nabbing the advance-sales record, the biggest single-day record and the highest-grossing midnight showings of all time, fans have to wonder: Can this franchise get any bigger? Fortunately, they only have to wait seven months to get the answer.

Many of the saga's stars have cited "Eclipse" as their favorite of Stephenie Meyer's novels, and with "30 Days of Night" filmmaker David Slade at the helm, it seems likely to be a very distinctive entry into the blockbuster series. With that in mind (and since we're always on top of the latest "Twilight" news) we »

Twilight Saga Eclipse To Be More Guy Friendly?

24 November 2009 12:29 AM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the biggest opening weekend, the third biggest opening weekend in movie history. With accolades like this to it’s name it’s hard to imagine that the film is still only reaching half of it’s intended audience – namely the girls.

It seems that despite director Chris Weitz’s intention to build on his male audience, New Moon has fallen flat in the testosterone stakes this year – however that’s not a mistake that Edward, Bella and Jacob intend to make again with their third installment – The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which lands next year.

The folks at MTV have quite rightly pointed out that part of the reason New Moon fails to appeal to certain audiences is the fact that the film follows the source material very closely – something that several critics have been quick to point out. However it seems that while Eclipse is »

Blu-ray review: Terminator Salvation Director's Cut

23 November 2009 4:51 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Previous Terminator films saw killer robots travel back in time to obliterate any human threat to a grim future ruled by machines.

In Terminator Salvation, out on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK today (Monday, November 23), we finally see that nightmarish future.

This fourth adventure in the franchise is an action-packed, post-apocalyptic war film set in 2018, in the wastelands that remain after supercomputer Skynet becomes self-aware and decides to reduce civilisation to cinders in a nuclear strike known as Judgment Day.

Terminator Salvation is both a prequel and a sequel, showing the future events prior to the time-travel missions that took place in the previous movies. So how does it shape up on Blu-ray?

Resistance fighter John Connor (Christian Bale, with a rasping voice) is seen by some survivors as a saviour and by others as a false prophet. He uncovers a research facility detailing plans to create an advanced »

'Eclipse' Promises To Be The Most Guy-Friendly 'Twilight' Yet

23 November 2009 1:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Unless you've been living under a rock the past few months, you'll know that a teensy little film called "New Moon" came out this past weekend and made a blockbuster-worthy $140 million in the past three and a half days. But most of that insane opening weekend appeal can be attributed to a year's worth of Twilighter fanaticism and marketing, and only time will tell whether "New Moon" can sustain its box office hold beyond just fan interest. In fact, most critics knocked the movie because it stayed so close to the book and didn't deviate enough to let those not familiar with "Twilight" in.

Enter "Eclipse." The third installment of "The Twilight Saga" has already finished filming and is slated for a June 30, 2010 release. It is arguably the best in the series (arguable because it is my favorite, obviously), but it is also the book that propelled Stephenie Meyer's »
