I'm still reeling from the news of About a Boy's Nicholas Hoult growing up and playing a sexually ambiguous grad student, and now we've got another to add to the mix. (Not the sexually ambiguous mix, just the all-grown-up mix.)
Remember the cutie from Jerry Maguire? That little youngin' with the pinchable cheeks, spikey blonde hair, and glasses almost too big for his face? He was played by Jonathan Lipnicki (pictured), and The Hollywood Reporter posts that he's grabbed a starring role in a new psychological thriller called The Other Side of Innocence. Now a high school senior, Lipnicki will play "a damaged young man who becomes romantically involved with the unhappy daughter of the local chief detective while a serial killer is threatening their town."
The project is also a bit of a big return for scribe Robert Redlin. He hit the scene in 1990 with After Dark, My Sweet,

No. I've never thought about winning awards. I think if you set yourself specific goals, that's quite a lot of pressure. If you are putting your all into it, then it would be a nice surprise if you do win. That's Nicholas Hoult, responding to a question if he wishes to win a BAFTA or even an Oscar trophy. - - - - - - The nineteen year old British actor has come a long way - from his most important lead role as a child actor opposite Hugh Grant in About a Boy to his other awesome role playing the victim of a sexual predator in The Weather Man, to his controversial and naughty transition into a young man who always gets what he wants in Skins. Hoult has shown a certain maturity in his acting portrayals, coupled with that look so capable of doing mischief, no wonder, he

Man, kids grow up right quick. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love and He's Just Not That Into You) and Nicholas Hoult have joined the Isherwood adaptation A Single Man -- which I wrote about recently when Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and Matthew Goode signed on. Goodwin will play a suburban mom who doesn't share her husband's dislike of Firth, their gay neighbor, while Hoult plays Kenny -- "a sexually ambiguous grad student who shows an unusual interest in the professor." Now, I didn't mention Hoult's credits yet because i was saving it for last -- this is the kid from About a Boy. Yes, that's his picture to the right. God, he's grown up!
In other news... It's a little hard to write about this 13... After I read Variety's quite-specitic casting piece, I read Christopher Campbell's review, which notes that some oft-mentioned plot points are pretty spoilerish.

Fashion designer Tom Ford has snagged two up and comers to join the already stellar cast of his directorial debut, A Single Man. Hr reports that Ginnifer Goodwin and Nicholas Hoult will round out the ensemble. A Single Man is an adaptation of the Christopher Isherwood novel and will follow the trials and tribulations of a gay professor in the .60s, played by Colin Firth. Goodwin (Big Love) will play an intrigued neighbor who befriends Firth. Newcomer from across the pond, Hault (About a Boy), will play one of his students who is confused about his sexuality. Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode also star. With Milk about to be in theaters and now this, it seems that gayness in films is finally moving on from Brokeback Mountain. After his turn as the stereotypical "gay one" in paisley pants in Mama Mia, I am excited to see Colin Firth play a
