Fresh 'Franklyn' Clip: 'Relieved of Life'

26 February 2009 8:47 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

A clip from "Franklyn" entitled "Relieved of Life" has been found. Less than a minute long, the snippet to the drama fantasy highlights on Ryan Phillippe's Preest while he ponders on what people will do when they are lost and on the crime and action for justice, revealing that he was about to kill a man who has robbed a young woman's life. The clip opens with a glimpse of Sam Riley's Milo and the aerial shot of Meanwhile City.

"Franklyn" is a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It revolves around an intertwining story of four lost souls; Preest, a masked vigilante detective looking for his nemesis on the streets of Meanwhile City; Emilia, an art student whose suicidal art projects become increasingly deadly; Esser, a broken man in search for his out-of-control son amongst the rough »

Exclusive: Franklyn - Director's Sketchbook

25 February 2009 9:57 PM, PST | Rotten Tomatoes | See recent Rotten Tomatoes news »

Franklyn may be Gerald McMorrow's debut feature film, but by the standards of even the most experienced of helmers it's an ambitious and visually-stunning movie, telling the tale of four disparate souls -- played by Ryan Phillippe, Eva Green, Sam Riley & Bernard Hill - who find each other on their quest to find themselves. Part set in contemporary London and part set in a mythical fantasy world called Meanwhile City -- whose inhabitants must, by law, find religious faith even if that means taking washing machine instructions as their bible -- it's one of the most original and exciting... »

Image slideshow for Franklyn, which is directed by Gerald McMorrow and stars Eva Green, Ryan Phillippe, Sam Riley and Bernard Hill

The film is a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It's the story of four lost souls, divided by two parallel worlds, on course for an explosive collision when a single bullet will decide all their fates.

Upcoming British sci-fi Franklyn, set in a dark future England where religious fanaticism has taken over, is due out here next month but is still largely under wraps, so it's good to see these new Italian posters for the film online, even if we have only the haziest idea what the taglines mean. The film stars Ryan Phillippe, Eva GreenSam Riley and Bernard Hill, as four loosely connected characters in this future imperfect. Phillippe's a masked vigilante, Green a rather macabre art student, Riley a broken loner and Hill a broken man searching for his son.Click the image above to view more posters on badtaste.itIf our Italian doesn't fail us, and it might cause we don't speak it, the first poster says "Tonight I killed a man" and the third and fourth say, "Two worlds are colliding". Funky Franklyn Trailer Debuts

12 January 2009 3:45 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Most movie-goers may never see Franklyn. It's a little sci-fi indie flick with hints of film-noir and destined to become an eclectic cult classic.

Opening in the UK on February 20, 2009, Franklyn stars Jay Fuller, Eva Green, and Bernard Hill, and is set between colliding parallel worlds of contemporary London and a futuristic metropolis called Meanwhile City. The tale follows four souls whose lives are intertwined by fate, romance and tragedy, and whose destiny will be determined by a single bullet.

IGN has debuted the first trailer for the movie, and you can judge for yourself whether it is something that will appeal to the masses. Odds are, Grandma won't be going. Check it out, and then give us your thoughts.

‘Franklyn’ Trailer = Awesome

11 January 2009 9:16 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This is one of those “Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that one a while ago,” type of movies. Odds are it’ll be only UK readers who will have heard of it, since it’s British-made and only a UK release date has been set with no word on a Us one (surprisingly there’s word going around that it won’t be released in theaters in the Us at all - now that would be a shame).

The film is called Franklyn and it was written and directed by Gerald McMorrow, making his feature directing debut, will be produced by Jeremy Thomas (Fast Food Nation, Tideland) and stars Ryan Phillippe, Eva Green, Sam Riley and Bernard Hill.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Franklyn:

“is a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It’s the story of four lost souls, »

New trailer for Franklyn is ten shades of awesome

9 January 2009 11:44 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

We reported back in October on a temp trailer for the scifi Ryan Phillipe starrer Franklyn, but it was pretty poor quality and honestly looked nothing like this. Seriously, you want to check this out.

Preest, a masked vigilante detective, searching for his nemesis on the streets of Meanwhile City, a monolithic fantasy metropolis ruthlessly governed by faith and religious fervor. Esser (Bernard Hill) is a broken man, searching for his wayward son amongst the rough streets of London's homeless. Milo (Sam Riley) is a heartbroken thirty-something desperately trying to find a way back to the purity of first love. Emilia (Green) is a beautiful art student; her suicidal art projects are becoming increasingly more complex and deadly.

The official international trailer of "Franklyn" has come out courtesy of IGN. The video footage sets its focus on three strangers living in the parallel worlds of contemporary London and the futuristic metropolis of Meanwhile City. Though not giving much of the storyline, the trailer shares closer look at some of the major characters, including those played by Ryan Phillippe and Eva Green.
