Controversy or not, "W" has its work cut out for it against the video game adaptation of "Max Payne." The Lionsgate George Bush biopic stars Josh Brolin (George Bush), Elizabeth Banks (Laura Bush), James Cromwell (George Herbert Walker Bush), Ellen Burstyn (Barbara Bush), Richard Dreyfus (Dick Cheney), Thandie Newton (Condoleezza Rice), Jeffrey Wright (Colin Powell), Scott Glenn (Donald Rumsfeld) and Ioan Gruffudd (Tony Blair). Film sees around 2,030 venues. The one to go for if you're not into politics and honestly don't care about Oliver Stone's comedic version of the controversial president, is most definitely "Max Payne." Viewers and press alike are keen on the adaptation of the Remedy Entertainment and 3-D Realms Entertainment game. Mark Wahlberg stars as "Payne" in Fox's release in 3,376 venues.

One way to up your Hollywood profile is to star as a superhero, just ask Robert Downey Jr. and Christian Bale. Of course, it has to be in a good superhero movie, just ask Ioan Gruffudd. So, who is apparently eyeing a role as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Green Lantern? Why none other than Ryan Gosling according to LatinoReview. Lr is reporting the news from what they refer to as a "trusted source within the Warner Bros" and based on their history with being the first to name Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight and Brandon Routh as Superman in Superman Returns I am not going to doubt them. I doubt I need to remind the majority of you who Ryan Gosling is, but just in case he starred in the sappy romantic drama The Notebook with current girlfriend Rachel McAdams (Limited Edition DVD on the way), the crappy thriller Stay,

Oliver Stone's filmmaking skills have come under question after a series of noted movie critics were left unimpressed by his eagerly anticipated George W. Bush biopic, W.
The JFK moviemaker rushed to shoot and edit the film so it could open in cinemas throughout the U.S. before the forthcoming presidential elections in November.
And some of the industry's most respected film critics have taken aim at Stone for doing so - with one writer claiming the quality of the rush job is no better than a made-for-tv movie.
According to Britain's The Times newspaper, the subject matter - Bush's life from adolescence to his White House administration - is too much for a two hour movie, insisting the content gets "the better of Stone".
And U.K. newspaper The Guardian's Dan Glaister says the film "plays like a TV movie rather than a cinematic epic", branding the project "conventional" compared to Stone's previous, edgier work.
However, most pundits have praised the film's lead Josh Brolin, insisting the star's turn as President Bush will most likely earn him a string of Best Actor awards, describing his performance as "arresting".
Industry publication Variety says, "The actor offers a more than reasonable physical approximation and an interpretation that's convincingly boisterous and determined."
The film, which co-stars Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair, Thandie Newton as Condoleeza Rice and Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, hits U.S. cinemas on 17 October.

Chris Evans enjoyed fast fame thanks to Fantastic Four but Teardrop Diamond reveals artier ambitions The first bit of news from Chris Evans, the handsome actor best known as superhero Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four movies, is guaranteed to sadden his action fans. "I think were done," Evans said, leaning back in his chair at the Sutton Place Hotels restaurant. "Yeah, I think were done." The natural expectation is that Evans would be disappointed by the idea, considering that the Fantastic Four movies were big hits for Evans as well his super-hero costars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis.

Oliver Stone's latest biopic project "W" has gone forward with its promo as CNN brings forth a brand new clip from the film. Highlighting one of the memorable moments in George W. Bush's life before his presidency, the video focuses on the first meeting between the future 43rd U.S. president and Laura Welch, a Democrat who later becomes known as the First Lady Laura Bush.
Commenting on the two's first encounter, Stone shared to CNN about the unlikely couple. "Even though he was a partying Republican candidate for Congress, and she was a Democratic librarian, there was something bigger between them that lasted," he said. "Their meeting at the barbecue has been documented by family friends in numerous books. For them, it was the best thing that ever came out of a Texas barbecue."

The first international trailer for Fireflies in the Garden has been discovered online. Unfortunately I agree with Cinematical, this isn't the greatest trailer, but I feel like I can see through it to a better film within. If you thought the ensemble cast for Winged Creatures was impressive, what until you hear the line-up in this: Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ioan Gruffudd, and even everyone's favorite cheerleader, Hayden Panettiere. Seeing trailers like this really gets me in the mood for the upcoming film festival and Oscar season. Fireflies in the Garden will definitely be on my list of films to see. However, I've got to wonder, are ensemble dramas the new big thing? Fireflies in the Garden premiered back in February at the Berlin Film Festival, and it very much has the luck of a festival-friendly movie. With its impressive ensemble, its non-linear storyline, and some pretty scarring family drama, the film is not one likely to pack 'em in, despite the presence of Julia Roberts.
That doesn't mean this is a bad movie, of course, merely that it won't do Pretty Woman business, a comparison I realize is terribly unfair to Roberts at this point in her career. After all, she won an Oscar for Erin Brockovich (in a performance I'll gladly defend if you want to challenge me), and how quickly we forget her work in Closer.
Still, Fireflies in the Garden looks like it's tackling some things head-on rather than sweeping subjects under the rug, and that's always a good thing for drama. In this case, the Waetcher family has

The guys over at AICN today posted a brand-new poster for Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Buch biopic “W.” The film from a script by Stanley Weiser will focus primarily on what drove George W. Bush (played by Josh Brolin) to make a run for the U.S. presidency, but the plot will also examine part of his career as the commander in chief.
A first teaser trailer for the film was released just a few weeks ago. Click here to see it. Meanwhile, enjoy the new poster below. It’s in fact a quite simple one-sheet, but it think it has an interesting strength to it as well. What do you guys think? “W.” also stars Elizabeth Banks, Richard Dreyfuss, Thandie Newton, Ioan Gruffudd, James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn. The flick opens in limited release Oct. 17, 2008.

The first teaser for Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Bush biopic is now online, and although it doesn’t reveal much about the plot itself, the footage at least shows us what the central characters look like. Most of the actors appearing in the trailer wear heavy makeup, but they certainly look a lot like the real people they’re portraying.
In short, “W.” chronicles the life and presidency of George W. Bush, with a focus on what drove the man to go into politics and run for president. Josh Brolin stars as the titular character. Elizabeth Banks, Ioan Gruffudd, Thandie Newton, Ellen Burstyn, Jeffrey Wright and James Cromwell co-star.
Although Stone said his film is not going to bash Bush, I have a feeling we’ll see more negative stuff surrounding the central character than good. But who knows, maybe Stone manages to follow Stephen Frears’ flawless approach

Oliver Stone's upcoming political satire about president George W. Bush, W., gets an original score by French composer Paul Cantelon, who recently wrote the acclaimed score for costume drama The Other Boleyn Girl. The film is sure to cause some controversy, as it chronicles the life of George W. Bush with a lot of A-list actors portraying the politicians surrounding him: Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld, Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair... the part as Bush himself is played by Josh Brolin, and his father is done by James Cromwell. The screenplay is by Stanley Weiser, a regular Stone collaborator who previously wrote the script for Wall Street. Paul Cantelon got his big break with the French art house movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly in 2007 and also wrote the music for the 2005 independent hit Everything Is Illuminated. W.

Welsh actor Matthew Rhys proved his friendship to Ioan Gruffudd by looking after the Fantastic Four star when he was passed out drunk.
The Edge of Love star is a close pal of Gruffudd and the pair shared a flat together in London for eight years.
And Rhys admits there were times when their relationship was tested - mostly after drunken nights out.
He says, "After one heavy night, I went around the flat looking for him and couldn't find him anywhere until, finally, I went to the bathroom and found him asleep around the toilet.
"Out of the toilet bowl were poking the ends of his glasses, so I fished them out and put them back on his sleeping face. Now that is a mark of true friendship."
