Orlando Bloom is all about celebrating hotel openings these days and he was in Vegas last night to celebrate the new Vdara Resort & Spa at CitiCenter, which has the interesting distinction of not allowing gambling. Miranda Kerr was right by his side, just as she was for last week's bash at Marrakesh's La Moumani. Their Thanksgiving festivities brought out stars like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, and yesterday's event saw Orlando and Miranda partying alongside Rosario Dawson. There is a new trailer out for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, 20th Century Fox' bid to get in on the financial treasures to be mined from film adaptation of young-adult fantasy novels, and for most people it should serve as the first real glimpse into what kind of an imaginary world Chris Columbus, after having ushered in the first two Harry Potter films, is bringing to life on the big screen. I know little about the series of fantasy-adventure novels by Rick Riordan, so it's nice to now have some clarification beyond the film's early teasers, which were merely announcing the title.
In this feature trailer you'll actually get a cursory look into the life of the titular Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman, who played Christian Bale's eldest son in 3:10 to Yuma), a teen who is unknowingly a descendant of the Greek God Poseidon, as well »

Poseidon...you are the father. That's the jumping off point for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which involves a kid (Logan Lerman) who discovers he the demi-god son of the the Greek landlord of the oceans and seas.
It will try to get some of the Harry Potter momentum by involving - and thoroughly promoting - Potter director Chris Columbus, which is probably not a dumb move at all. The film is clearly not intended for the kids that were targeted for Sorcerer's Stone, because they're in college now or close to it, but the connection can't hurt.
You know what else can't hurt? A better trailer, which has more humor and more action than the previous stuff we've seen. I wouldn't say it can replace the boy wizard in anyone's mind, but it's a pretty good two minutes for young adult fare. Plus, for the non-young adults: Rosario Dawson. »

Logan Lerman will have to deal with Medusa in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief", and his encounter with the character played by Uma Thurman has been teased through the film's newly-found international trailer. In the promo video, it can be seen that Lerman will be making use of modern technology to avoid direct eye contact with the snake-headed female monster.
The footage showing first look at Medusa won't be seen until the international trailer comes nearly to its end part. The majority of footage featured in the trailer, in the meantime, focus on the action Lerman's character, Percy Jackson, will be seen in, from running away from a winged beast to figuring out his magical pen will turn into a sword when he is in trouble.
"The Lightning Thief" is adapted from Rick Riordan's first novel in the "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" series. It revolves around Percy »

Every year, there tends to be a common theme in most big-budget Hollywood films. Back in 2006, magicians were a big hit, as in both The Illusionist and The Prestige. We haven’t even hit 2010 yet, but it looks like the theme for next year may just be Greek Mythology, between Clash of the Titans and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Though the name is Way too long, this newest trailer actually makes the film look quite good, and even shows off the who’s who of a cast, from Rosario Dawson to Pierce Brosnon to Uma Thurman. The film is about a regular boy who finds out that he’s actually the son of a Greek God, and must then embark on an adventure which will help him earn his title as demigod.

The International trailer for Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief has hit the Interweb, and it looks better than the previous trailer(s) that we’ve seen for the film.
The difference? This international trailer actually sets up something of an interesting (and action-packed) story, rather than simply providing us a glimpse at something that looks like yet another Harry Potter knock-off.
Speaking of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief is being helmed by Chris Columbus, the same guy who directed the first two installments of the Potter franchise. Percy Jackson is based on the popular young-adult novels by Rick Riordan, and tells the story of a young boy named Percy (Logan Lerman) who discovers he is the descendant of the Greek Gods, only to become embroiled in a god-war.
The cast of actors playing the gods in the movie are made up of some very familiar faces – see if »

Trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of school – but that’s the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology texts and into his life – and they’re not happy. Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy’s family, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.
We haven’t been following this film that much but after watching the trailer it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Sort of a modern day retelling of Clash of the Titans. Percy or Perseus? man I am good at connection. The film is based on a popular series of young adult novels written by Rick Riordan. »
