Jessica Simpson has been claimed to have a secret crush on Billy Corgan. According to Ok! magazine, the pop-turned-country singer, who had broken up with quarterback boyfriend Tony Romo in summer, showed her interest on the former Smashing Pumpkins front man ever since she connected with him at a party on November 6.
"As the night went on, things got more intense and they talked with their faces just inches apart," an eyewitness said of Simpson and Corgan. "We do worry that she is on the rebound. But she is a big girl and capable of making her own decisions."
Of her crush on Corgan, a close friend of Simpson said that the 29-year-old has "secretly been crushing on him for months and felt there was a connection." The insider, in addition, gushed, "She has completely fallen for Billy and his easygoing, smart attitude. She says she wants to take things a lot further. »

It took a millennium for western civilisation to create a canon of classical literature – but just 10 years for Hollywood to destroy it
When I think back on this decade's spate of movies based on the great legends of European history, I remember how fantastically it started – with Gladiator – and how badly things went downhill after that: with Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, 300 and Beowulf. When I saw Gladiator in 2000, I thought this was going to be just the best millennium ever. It had everything you could want in a movie: glory, gore, guts, gladiators. It was a sweeping epic with a computer-generated cast of thousands. Augustus Caesar would have been proud of it. Julius and Tiberius, too.
Yet the thing I liked most about Ridley Scott's superb film was how closely it hewed to the historical record, in its portrayal of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) as the depraved son of Marcus Aurelius, »

Lindsay Lohan is secretly dating Entourage star Kevin Connolly, according to new U.S. reports.
Friends tell In Touch magazine the couple has been dating after "hooking up" at a party Leonardo DiCaprio threw at his Hollywood home last month.
A source tells the publication, "Lindsay and Kevin have been sneaking around. It’s not serious yet, but they seem to have some sort of physical connection. Lindsay isn’t sure what’s going to happen, so for now she wants to keep things quiet."
Lohan was romantically linked to Scottish actor Gerard Butler after splitting up with longtime girlfriend Samantha Ronson earlier this year, and actor Connolly, who once dated socialite Nicky Hilton, was recently rumoured to be dating actress Hayden Panettiere.
The Heroes star denies the romance reports, stating, "I've known Kevin for so long. We're just friends." »

If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you might have picked up that I quite like action films. If you haven’t, allow me to explain; I quite like action films. That is to say Die Hard is my favourite film of all time, and Crank is the best action film of recent years bar none. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have extensive tastes, it just means that my tolerance for terrible Hollywood tripe is pretty high*. I will actively seek out films that look like they are going to be so-bad-they’re-good. Which is why the Jamie Foxx/Gerard Butler vehicle Law Abiding Citizen appealed to me. The trailers made it look really awful, and one reviewer described it as the ‘ultimate popcorn movie’, whatever that means. I was prepared for my thumbs to be thoroughly erect in appreciation. Sadly Law Abiding Citizen falls at the first hurdle, »

To celebrate their 20th birthday, Empire Magazine invited a whole ton of actors and actresses to ever-so-briefly reprise their most iconic roles for a pretty cool photo shoot. Curious to see what Arnold Schwarzenegger would look like now if he donned those famous black sunglasses and threw on his best badass pose for a photo in front of a motorcycle? Or what about wanting to see Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster reunited for the first time since the Oscar-winning Silence of the Lambs?
Other cool photo ops include Mel Gibson wearing face paint in honor of Braveheart, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost looking back at Shaun of the Dead, Christian Bale returning to his American Psycho days, Ben Stiller showing us all that Zoolander totally deserves a sequel, Gerard Butler giving us his best 300 roar, Laurence Fishburne calling back Morpheus and more. It's a pretty cool idea, even if Tom Cruise »

Gerard Butler has vowed to bring the movie business home to his native Scotland - he's signed up as an ambassador for the country's film industry.
The star recently persuaded Hollywood bosses to hold the premiere of his latest blockbuster, Law Abiding Citizen, in Glasgow.
Butler is adamant he will keep on pressing for more movies to be made in Scotland and he's teamed up with the Glasgow Film Office in a bid to bring in more business.
He says, "Glasgow is a great place to make movies. You can shoot anything here, from urban and contemporary to rural and period. The crews are fantastic and it's an easy city to get around. You spend endless hours in traffic when you make movies elsewhere." »

Christmas shopping on a budget is tough. So if you’re carefully watching the pennies when you hit the stores this festive season, we’ve found just the thing – the boxer shorts seen on Gerard Butler in romantic drama, P.S. I Love You. These babies aren’t too tough on the bank balance, are practical (so he’ll actually use them rather than just shove them somewhere and forget all about them), super stylish and pack enough novelty to bring a smile to his face. Never have pants looked so cool! »

The Twilight franchise may still be packing them in, but Oren Peli's low-budget shocker shows that big (and scary) things come in small packages, too
The winner #1
It's rare for a film to drop 63% from the previous weekend and it still be considered a good result. But you can certainly make that case with The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In other words, forget about the percentages, just focus on the cascade of cash. By any yardstick, more than £20m in 10 days is a big number. After just two weekends on release, New Moon is already the ninth-biggest hit of 2009, and will very soon overtake the likes of Monsters vs Aliens, Star Trek and The Hangover to land sixth place for the year. The original Twilight movie took less than £5m in its first 10 days, so the sequel is so far running at quadruple the pace of its predecessor. The »

Wales has been boosted by Harry Potter, Rome by Angels and Demons and hell, even Brüno’s done his bit for tourism in Austria, so who has the Glasgow Film Office turned to in their hour of need, when they require help in attracting movies to shoot on their turf? Ewan McGregor? James McAvoy? Or even the cinematic king of the Schscots, Sean Connery? Nope, none other than Gerard Butler, who, as the recently named favourite Hollywood Brit (see Related Content, right) is preparing to wave his Scottish flag in a bid to attract top talent to the north. »

Gerard Butler knows why he can't commit to a girlfriend - he's struggled to interact with women ever since his father walked out on the family.
The 300 star was raised by single mum Margaret because his dad, a bookmaker named Edward, was never around - and he believes his father's absence has affected his adult relationships.
Butler tells German magazine Joy, "I act very awkward when I am with women. Perhaps that's because my mother brought me up alone. My father gambled away all our money and eventually went bankrupt. So one night our family had to flee to Canada. At that time my mother was five months pregnant with me. Shortly after my second birthday my father let us down. It is said that men who grow up without a father have a fear of commitment."
But the actor is hoping to one day overcome his relationship issues and settle down with one woman.
He adds, "It's about time (to marry)." »

Gerard Butler blames his problems with women on his absent father. The "Gamer" actor was raised solely by his mother after his parents divorced when he was just two, and he believes his commitment issues stem from the fact his dad wasn't around. Butler - who didn't have contact with his father again until he was 16 - told German magazine Joy: "I act very awkward when I am with women. Perhaps that's because my mother brought me up alone. My father gambled away all our money and eventually went bankrupt. So one night our family had to flee head over heels to Canada. At that time my mother was five months pregnant with me. Failed by the American justice system after he witnesses the death of his wife and baby daughter during a burglary, Gerard Butler dishes out his own brand of revenge on high-achieving, sharp-dressing lawyer Jamie Foxx and tries to take most of Philadelphia down with him.
Butler, the beefy Scottish actor who has shot somewhat inexplicably up the rungs of the Hollywood ladder, wreaks his revenge from the bowels of a jail, declaring war on a system he calls "this whole broken thing, a diseased corrupt temple". He outdoes even Tarantino in getting medieval on the world's ass, claiming his revenge is "gonna be biblical".
F Gary Gray's relentlessly silly film is part Saw, part Death Wish and part Shawshank Redemption, pretending to examine the nature of justice, test the parameters of law and probe the relationship between good and evil. But really it's just intent on blowing shit up. »
