Originally announced over two years ago with Victor Salva (Jeepers Creepers) behind the helm, Warner Bros. and Dark Castle have set their sights on James Cox to direct the psychological horror movie The Summoner. Written by Matthew Sand, the story centers on a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being to our world. When his control begins to slip and the situation turns deadly, he must stop the onslaught of evil before it's too late. Casting is under way for a January shoot in Portland, Ore. Joel Silver and David Gambino are producing; Susan Downey, Steve Richards, Lawrence Mattis and David Alpert are executive producing. "Summoner" is the sixth film to go under Dark Castle's agreement with Cit and JPMorgan. Warners is distributing worldwide except for France, which Studio Canal will handle. CAA-repped Cox is best known for helming 2003's "Wonderland," starring Val Kilmer and Kate Bosworth.

Josh Charles started out strong, but sure fizzled, didn't he? I mean, he started his career with Hairspray, before heading to the Dead Poets Society, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, and soon after, the sexually dysfunctional Threesome. But now he's cameo guy, and there's a new one on the way.
The Hollywood Reporter posts that Charles and Justin Long are joining the Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson-starring After.Life. Long will play the boyfriend of a woman caught between life and death (Ricci), while Charles plays his friend. (Poor guy, relegated to token roles.) This is that long-in-gestation feature that once starred Kate Bosworth, and even had a poster released waaaay back in February of 2007. But it finally seems to be moving forward.
Meanwhile...
Four Leaf Tayback, also known as Nick Nolte, has grabbed a role in My Own Love Song, according to Variety. Pretty

Justin Long and Josh Charles (Four Brothers TV’s Sports Night) have joined Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson in the psychological thriller After.Life. The film marks the directorial debut of Agnieska Wojtowicz-Vosloo and centers on a young woman (Ricci) caught between life and death and a funeral director (Neeson) who appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead. Long will play her boyfriend, Paul, who becomes increasingly suspicious of foul play. Charles is set for the role as Paul's friend. Vosloo also penned the screenplay. Bill Perkins, Brad Gilbert and Celine Rattray (Lonesome Jim) of Constellation Entertainment will produce. Ricci replaced the originally attached Kate Bosworth in the lead. BlackBerry has had quite the celebrity-filled week, launching Storm with John Mayer on Wednesday followed by its Bold launch party in La on Thursday night. Kate Bosworth glowed in her simple and neutral-toned outfit, while Mario Lopez and Eva Longoria laughed and chatted together. The Fashion Group International threw their 25th annual Night of Stars at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City last night. Donatella Versace was presented an award by Jennifer Lopez and smiled alongside Marc Anthony and Balthazar Getty. Jennifer reminisced about her infamous green Versace dress — though she and Marc disagreed over whether she would still wear it today. Fresh from her appearance on Oprah, Ashley Olsen looked hot walking the red carpet without her boyfriend Justin Bartha. Kate Bosworth made it three nights in a row out on the town while Blake Lively arrived with Penn but as usual didn't pose with him. While Wall Street itself may be going through a hard time, the glamorous celebrities still came out to celebrate and honor Donatella. There's never a dull moment for fabulous Kate Bosworth, who was out at the Vacheron Constantin party in NYC last night after Tuesday's big Chanel soiree. She posed in sequins matching the bottom of her dress with Susan Sarandon's suit. It wasn't all about beautiful watches, however, as the event was in support of the Afghanistan World Foundation and honoring Salman Rushdie and Richard Meier. Lipstick Jungle sweethearts Kim Raver and Lindsay Price looked like they stepped right off the set in their hot sheath dresses. As the party season just starts to heat up, we'll be seeing a lot of these familiar faces on the red carpets and small screen every week. Kate Bosworth kept warm by changing into tights, pumps and sticking with a blazer at the Chanel Mobile Art after party last night. When someone asked Kate who she was wearing on the red carpet she laughed and jokingly yelled out, "Who am I wearing? What do you think?" The actress showed off her silver frock and is currently winning her battle of the Chanel, so looks like she chose the right outfit. When asked about a memorable Chanel piece she's worn, Kate said: "I didn’t keep it because it's in the archives. It’s the Chanel dress I wore to the Met ball. It was pretty amazing. It was made in the eighties and it’s just pretty amazing, I was really happy." Kate was pulled away by James as they left the chilly art pavilion and the gorgeous couple headed hand-in-hand to the Waverly Inn soiree. Splash

Chanel pulled out all the stops to celebrate the opening of their mobile art pavilion in New York's Central Park last night. Silver and black were the colors of the night on stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Raver, Kate Bosworth and Karl Lagerfeld in his usual uniform. The night was so cold and windy that a pole fell on Kim Raver as she started walking down the red carpet. At one point James Rousseau sweetly offered Kate Bosworth his jacket and kissed her cheek when she looked chilly. She also laughed and chatted with Helena Christensen while enjoying the live music. Samantha Ronson's mom Ann talked to us about Lindsay and Samantha — more on that later — but needless to say it was a glamorous night from start to finish. Sometimes we report things we hear and they turn out to be totally wrong. I mean, they were right at one point, but now they are wrong. That's the case with the casting of an indie film called After.Life (yes, there is supposed to be a period between the two words.) About 18 months ago, it was reported that Kate Bosworth and Alfred Molina would star, but this is 2008 and things have changed. Variety says that now Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson have taken over the leads in the supernatural thriller. Ricci will play a woman who is caught between life and death (whatever that means) and Neeson is the funeral director who may or may not bury her. It all sounds very spooky. The movie was written by and will be the feature directorial debut of Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo. Wojtowicz-Vosloo previously directed a short called Pate that won some festival ...

Actor Liam Neeson is joining Christina Ricci in Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's upcoming thriller “After.Life,” the Hollywood Reporter announced earlier today.
The trade says the flick centers on a young woman (Ricci) caught between life and death. A funeral director (Neeson) appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead, but may be intent on burying her alive.
Sounds freaky.
Ricci recently joined the project and replaced Kate Bosworth, who was originally attached to play the lead.
Neeson was last heard as Asland in “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” He’ll soon show up in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s “Five Minutes of Heaven.”
And before I forget, Neeson is also in talks to play Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” provided the project will actually happen.

The 2009 Spring fashion season came to a close in Paris last night after a whirlwind month of shows in New York, London, and Milan. Lots of stars were out to celebrate, with Emma Watson, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell taking in Ysl and Chanel while Dita von Teese and Lenny Kravitz checked out Marc Jacobs's newest work at Louis Vuitton. After shopping around the city, Kate Bosworth brought her man James Rousseau to the Miu Miu show last night along with Kirsten Dunst, who is a former face of the brand. Kirsten also made time for some sightseeing, which hopefully kept her mind off the less-than-stellar opening of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. When adventurous treasure hunters Rick and Evelyn O'Connell return for their third film, this summer's "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," one of them will look a bit different than they had previously. That's because Evelyn was once played by Rachel Weisz, who passed on this sequel and was replaced by Maria Bello. Likewise, the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Rachel Dawes from "Batman Begins" continues in this summer's "The Dark Knight," without Katie Holmes; Maggie Gyllenhaal fills in there.
It's a busy year for actors replacing other actors in sequels . we've already had a new Hulk (Edward Norton) and this fall, we'll have a new Punisher to match (Ray Stevenson) . so it's a good time to look back at some of the most notable substitutes. Sometimes new actors in old roles can make a huge impact; Antonio Banderas broke through with American audiences with "Desperado,
