Lady Deadpool: One Role Ryan Reynolds (Probably) Won't Play

13 November 2009 10:02 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Ryan Reynolds might have played Deadpool in the "Wolverine" movie and the upcoming "Deadpool" solo film, but we're pretty sure there's one version of Marvel's mouthy mercenary he won't bring to the big screen (well, pretty sure, at least): Lady Deadpool.

In January's issue of "Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth," readers will be introduced to a different sort of Deadpool (quite a few of 'em, in fact), and Marvel's released a new cover to commemorate the merc's newfound, well... lady parts. The new cover was created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, with an alternate cover (posted below) by "Marvel Zombies" cover artist Arthur Suydam.

According to Marvel, the issue will feature a one-shot story written by Victor Gischler that has Deadpool meeting alternate versions of himself. Will he find himself annoying? Will he make a pass at himself? These are the questions I want answered.

Kristen Stewart Says 'New Moon' Was 'Labor-Intensive'

'I would have to be dead, zombie Bella who's just absolutely destroyed, to waking up again,' she says.

Beverly Hills, California — Asking fans to name the best "Twilight Saga" actor inevitably results in a debate only slightly less passionate than the topic of whether "Breaking Dawn" was a worthy finale for the novels. No matter who your pick is, however, it's hard to deny that at the tender age of 19, Kristen Stewart has positioned herself to become a dominant Hollywood actress for decades to come.

With more than 20 movies under her belt, acclaim in such wide-ranging flicks as "Into the Wild," "Panic Room" and "Adventureland," and praise from the likes of Jodie Foster and Ryan Reynolds, KStew is undoubtedly an actress to watch.

But according to her, it was next week's "New Moon" that demanded some of the most difficult work yet in her young career. »

Ryan Reynolds Could Have Been Captain Marvel

11 November 2009 10:30 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Ryan Reynolds is setting himself up to be for superhero movies what Will Ferrell is for sports movies. Earlier this year, he turned in a pretty decent performance as Deadpool which will eventually turn into its own series. Next he.s signed up to play Green Lantern. For the sake of this argument, I.m also going to count Van Wilder as a superhero character because that dude is just plain awesome. That's three, and it could have been four. It turns out that writer Bill Birch also thought Reynolds would make a great Captain Marvel. Segal is currently working on a script for Shazam, the film adventures of Captain Marvel. Talking to CineFOOLS, Birch stated: .I always thought Ryan Reynolds would have been interesting but now that he.s Green Lantern that.s not an option.. Captain Marvel, as some may remember, is the alter ego of Billy Batson, »

'Twilight' Dominates People's Choice Awards

11 November 2009 4:48 PM, PST | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

Let's be quite honest with ourselves: The people aren't choosing quiet art-house movies or no-name character actors – they're choosing Twilight and True Blood and anything else that involves a vampire in some way, shape or form. The nominations for this year's People's Choice Awards have been announced, and not surprisingly they're filled with Twilight-related names.     In fact, out of all the movie categories, only two do not feature Twilight: Favorite Breakout Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic Star. But when you sneak on over to the other categories, you'll notice that Robert Pattinson is among those vying for Favorite Movie Actor (alongside Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp and Ryan Reynolds), and Kristen Stewart is in the running for Favorite Movie Actress...

Ryan Reynolds wanted for 'Shazam' role

11 November 2009 12:19 PM, PST | Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Shazam co-writer Bill Birch has revealed that Ryan Reynolds was his first choice for the lead role of Captain Marvel in the upcoming film. In an interview with Cinefools, the scribe said that the Proposal star would have been ideal to portray the DC superhero. However, he conceded that Reynolds's involvement in the Green Lantern film rules out the possibility. "I always thought Ryan Reynolds would have been interesting but now that he's Green Lantern that's not an option," he said. It has also been reported that Dwayne Johnson is tipped to play the hero's nemesis Black Adam, but Birch denied that the actor has signed on for the role. "My rule of thumb is that no actor is committed to do a movie until the first day of shooting (more) »

Bill Birch, the co-writer of the upcoming “Shazam” feature film has revealed that Ryan Reynolds was his first choice to portray Captain Marvel on the big screen.

“I always thought Ryan Reynolds would have been interesting but now that he’s Green Lantern that’s not an option,” Birch told Cinefools. Birch also elaborated on whether he believes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is still onboard to play Captain Marvel’s nemesis, Black Adam.

“My rule of thumb is that no actor is committed to do a movie until the first day of shooting is over with,” Birch explained. “I know that ['Shazam' Director] Pete Segal and Dwayne have a relationship that was solidified when Pete directed 'Get Smart.' As far as him being committed? I'm sure it'll all depend on the script.”

Vampire love affair leads race for public's votes with six nods

It's unlikely to figure at next year's Oscars, but the Twilight Saga films, based on Stephenie Meyers's books about a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire, look set to triumph where it really counts. The franchise leads the nominations for the 2010 People's Choice awards, with six nods.

Twilight is up for best actor, in the form of Robert Pattinson, who lines up alongside Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp and Ryan Reynolds. The film also gets a nod in the best actress (for Kristen Stewart), onscreen team, breakout actor (Taylor Lautner), movie franchise and favourite movie categories.

Star Trek, this summer's successful reinvention of the science fiction franchise, is in joint second spot with four nominations, including two for breakout actor for the new Kirk and Spock, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. X-Men Origins: Wolverine, thecritically-panned »

Bill Birch and Geoff Johns "Starting Fresh" With Shazam! Adaptation

11 November 2009 1:12 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

When young Billy Batson says "Shazam," he transforms into the adult superhero Captain Marvel. The character is nearly as old — and as powerful — as DC Comics' premiere hero, Superman. Yet, he's had far less exposure than the Man of Steel. In fact, most people who recognize Captain Marvel think his name is actually the magic word he says to access his powers. This name confusion stems partially from the fact that DC Comics is forced to market Captain Marvel under the name Shazam! because Marvel Comics owns the rights to the name.

Captain Marvel has appeared in film serials, a live-action TV show, and several cartoon series. There's also long been talk of adapting the comic book into a live-action movie along the lines of Big meets Superman. New Line Cinema had been working on an adaptation but when it folded, the scripter of the intended adaptation, John August »

The comic is named after the magic word uttered by teenager Billy Batson to transform into adult superhero Captain Marvel.

And Birch said he had envisaged Ryan Reynolds as a possibility for Captain Marvel before the actor landed the part of Green Lantern, another DC Comics character.

Although Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was at one point attached to play either Captain Marvel or archenemy Black Adam, Birch said no actors had committed to the project at this point.

He told CineFOOLS: "More than likely the role of Billy Batson will be an unknown but the role of Captain Marvel? I always thought Ryan Reynolds would have been interesting but now that he's Green Lantern that's not an option."
