Exclusive Fansite Interview Michael Sheen AroMichael Has every one seen the film yet or has nobody seen the film?No we havent!Michael Right okay. So I can say anything and you wont know if Im telling the truth or not! LaughingMichael I promise I will tell the truth!Q. What is your perception of Aro as a character? Do you think he shows some blurred line between good and bad given that he puts an ultimatum on Bella becoming a vampire rather than killing her?Michael I think that Aro thinks that hes a really good guy. I love the idea that Aro thinks that hes just a sentimental old fool and a romantic at heart and hes totally unaware of how vicious and violet and psychopathic he is. And I think thats kind of makes him more creepy in a way more scary that hes not even aware of how frightening he is. »

There's something to be said about a jingle that gets in your head and you can't forget it. "I am stuck on Band-Aids, so Band-Aid's stuck on me..." remains imprinted on my brain to this day (and did you know that Barry Manilow wrote that?). Well, there's a current commercial that has a song that's wormed it's way into my noggin, only I can't stand it.
Before I tell you more and present the video, I want to go on record saying that I like the idea of the ad. It's a collaboration between Dove and Wal-Mart, presenting real women. The thought is that there is Real Beauty in real women, not models or celebrities, but just everyday people.

Lucky you, Movies Blog readers! Not only do you get a second helping of Twitter-Wood reportage today; I also come bearing the answer your last-minute Halloween costume plans if you've been pondering how to pull the perfect outfit together from Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." Eli Roth tweeted a helpful diagram for anyone looking to replicate his Sgt. Donny Donowitz look, which helped earn his character his racy nickname "The Bear Jew."
In other sanitized-for-the-sake-of-this-column tweeting, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost collaborated on a slash fiction parody of their movie "Hot Fuzz," today, which apparently gained a lot of followers for Wright. Check out the barely family friendly ones after the jump, along with the "Eclipse" reveal planned for the "Twilight" Twitter account, Aziz Ansari's amusement park adventures and Jason Reitman's breakfast with the Chemical Brothers. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 19, 2009.

1) Don't crucify me, but sometimes it takes a Jew to make truly great Christmas music. Irving Berlin wrote "White Christmas" poolside at the Arizona Biltmore, and let's not forget about the classic A Christmas Gift For You by Phil Spector who won't be poolside anytime soon. This phenomenon is only fitting, really, since Jesus was a visionary himself and arguably the original nice Jewish boy. 2) Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond are my first two heroes who made me want to be a writer in the first place, so you're only reading these words for free right now because of them. Sure, Barry Manilow came into my life a little later, but he has gainfully employed me numerous times to write many of his liner notes. So this X-Mas season of lights and latkes, please do the right... »

Backstreet Boys are back with a #9 debut.

You already knew Oprah Winfrey had the power to make any book she deems worthy a blockbuster, but the queen of all media is proving to be a musical kingmaker as well. A week after appearing on Winfrey's show, smooth crooner Michael Bublé will top the Billboard 200 charts with his latest, Crazy Love, on modest sales of 132,000.
Bublé managed to pull the feat off after pushing his album up from October 13 to an earlier, off-cycle Friday (October 9) release to coincide with the Winfrey appearance, dealing a harsh blow to legendary greasepaint rockers Kiss in the process. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees were looking like shoo-ins to land the first-ever #1 debut in their 30-plus-year career with the bargain-priced three-cd Wal-Mart exclusive Sonic Boom, but they will have to settle for #2 after moving just 108,000 copies. »

Britney Spears wrapped up the U.S. leg of her Circus tour on Sunday in true Las Vegas Fashion with a 90-minute set at Mandalay Bay, which was attended by Barry Manilow and Brit's longtime friend, former 'Nsync member Lance Bass.
Spears reportedly gave Bass some special treatment during the show. People reports that Bass was brought onstage during the singer's sexy rendition of "Breathe on Me" — the song during which she usually serenades a male audience member — and she proceeded to give a lap dance to the openly gay singer, who smiled and sang along.
Sunday night's show wasn't the only one attended by celebs. On Saturday, Miley Cyrus and Spice Girl Mel B. caught Britney's concert, as Spears wrapped the U.S. tour »

After nearly seven months, the American leg of Britney Spears's Circus tour came to a close Sunday in Las Vegas. "Hey Vegas, how y'all feeling?" the headliner, 27, asked the crowd in one of the only times that she spoke during the 90-minute show at Mandalay Bay also attended by Lance Bass and Barry Manilow. Bass didn't stay in his seat for the entire show, though: He was given a brief lap dance by Spears during the song "Breathe on Me," in which an audience member is invited on stage. Bass was seen singing as Spears smiled at him during the sexually charged choreography. »

We always sort of figured that David Boreanaz had some sort of hidden talent. Considering his performance of Barry Manilow's "Mandy" on "Angel," we figured there was an untapped well of musical talent lurking somewhere below the exterior. We just didn't realize he was a rapper. That is until he started sharing how Cyndi Lauper is guest-starring on the "Bones" season premiere tonight, that's when we stumbled on his other secret skill.
"We have Cyndi Lauper in our first episode," he explained to MTV News, adding that she was chosen after co-star Emily Deschanel sang one of her songs during a previous episode of "Bones." "How cool is that? She plays a tarot-card reader. She was fantastic. Are you kidding me?"
And although Boreanaz has never crooned on "Bones," he did tell us he sang with Lauper while on set. "I sang with her, like in between takes. Just stuff. »

Looks like he's finally made it! Barry Manilow will soon write the songs that make the cinematic world sing.* Oh, yes. Variety reports that Michael Stipe and Sandy Stern of Single Cell are joining Playtone's Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman to create a romantic comedy focusing on Manilow's extensive song catalog.
But we're not talking about some Mamma Mia! sort of flick where famous folks get together and try to belt out songs like they're Abba. Why get some stand-ins when you can get the real thing? The film will be a character-driven smorgasbord of Manilow fans heading to Las Vegas to see the icon headline Mandalay Bay. His music will drive the piece, and there will even be a performance or two by the man himself.
Could it be magic? Darn tootin'. They say this will be in the vein of Love Actually, and I hope they make a »

This week's Ketchup features a surprising low dosage of remakes (just one newly announced one), as a week that was shortened by Labor Day sees an emphasis more on casting news for existing projects than newly announced movies. Among the names in all the casting news are Mandy Moore, Nicolas Cage, Halle Berry and... Barry Manilow. #1 Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 Gets A Title Walt Disney Pictures has announced that the fourth movie in their lucrative Johnny Depp franchise will be titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and the studio is scheduling it for a summer, 2011... »

Barry Manilow and his management have partnered with the production companies co-owned by Michael Stipe and Tom Hanks to develop a romantic comedy featuring songs from his catalogue. According to Variety, we're not talking Mamma Mia!, we're talking about a Love Actually-style film that simply involves the intersecting storylines of Fanilows descending on Vegas to see Barry headline Mandalay Bay. Manilow's music would be throughout the film; he would appear onscreen to perform a song or two. Since no information was given about specific storylines, I vote we all suggest one. Here's mine: A woman in her early-30s named after Manilow's song "Mandy"* is convinced she's still single and destined never to be appreciated because of the song's lyrics: "Oh, Mandy/Well, you came and you gave without taking/But I sent you away/Oh, Mandy". She thinks Manilow owes her, and has come to demand that he »

Moviegoers of a certain age-- that is, my age-- will remember that Barry Manilow's "Mandy" was a sure sign of romance, an indication to Preston (Ethan Embry) that he should go back to Amanda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) at the end of Can't Hardly Wait. So maybe it's just because I'm a huge fan of that movie, but the idea of a romantic comedy based around Barry Manilow songs doesn't sound weird or fogey-ish to me at all. According to Variety, the idea is to make a Love Actually-esque movie in which a group of Manilow fans are coming to Vegas to see him perform, and inevitably meet each other and fall in and out of love in the process. Yes of course this is cheesy, but so are most Manilow songs, and that's made him a very, very rich man. If it was good enough for Ethan Embry, »

I usually expect a strong whiff of subversion when a project is announced by Michael Stipe and Sandy Stern's Single Cell production arm, so forgive me for waiting for the punchline on this little bit of news: The duo has announced that they'll be making an ensemble romantic comedy that utilizes the entire songbook of Barry Manilow, and that "the idea for the film is [close] in tone to Love Actually." But...one of the characters is a serial killer, right? Right? [Variety] »

Barry Manilow writes the songs that make the whole world sing! That is essentially the plot of a new film featuring Manilow's songs.
And Manilow is getting help from R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe and Tom Hanks.
Stipe's Single Cell productions and Hanks' Playtone are teaming up to develop a romantic comedy that will use Manilow's songs.
The production has been given the go signal by the iconic Manilow, and now, the producers are going to take the project to Universal where Playtone produced the blockbuster "Mamma Mia!."
But this new Manilow-centric movie will not have the similar theme of "Mamma Mia!" where Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan suddenly sing to the tune of Abba songs to advance the plot forward.
The Manilow film will be a character-driven romantic comedy with intersecting storylines involving Manilow fans. They're all going to Las Vegas where Manilow will headline Mandalay Bay one weekend. »

Single Cell and Playtone have confirmed plans for a movie based around the music of Barry Manilow. According to Variety, the film will be a romantic comedy in the style of Love Actually rather than Playtone's recent hit musical Mamma Mia!. Manilow's manager Garry Kief, Single Cell's Sandy Stern and Michael Stipe, and Playtone's Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks are producing the film, which is the first big screen project to have full access to the popular American songwriter's music. Are you ready for Barry Manilow: The Movie?Let’s rephrase: is anybody ready for Barry Manilow: The Movie? Well, states of readiness are irrelevant at this point, for it’s happening. It’s actually happening.Single Cell, the production company co-owned by R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, and Playtone, Tom Hanks’ company, have announced a deal to make a movie which will not only showcase the back catalogue of the MORiest man in music, but will feature the man himself in a cameo. It seems demented, but the 66 year-old Manilow is still a huge artist, who’s produced plenty of silent-s hits – songs like Can’t Smile Without You (used so brilliantly by Guillermo del Toro in Hellboy II), Could It Be Magic, I Write The Songs and Fuck Tha Police. His nose for a tune has led to millions of units sold, and he’s »

Jumping on top of the heat of the recently released film Halloween 2, Rob Zombie comes out with The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. The animated flick stars the voice talents of Tom Papa, Rosario Dawson, Sheri Moon Zombie, Paul Giamatti and many more.
A massive, over-the-hill masked wrestler, El Superbeasto has more interest in exotic dancers than adventure. Despite his disinterest, however, he still manages to get involved with murderous super-intelligent gorillas, Liverpudlian zombies, and Dr. Satan – a manic-depressive mad scientist obsessed with finding the perfect woman. Throughout his unusual escapades, he is joined by his sister, Susie X, a sexy super spy adventurer, and her sidekick: a 10-foot tall robot named Marvin, who digs Barry Manilow and Michael Bolton.

Kathy Griffin's fifth season of My Life on the D-List ended Monday, with the comedian getting a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame, and being surprised by Barry Manilow and Suzanne Summers at the ceremony. It wasn't the season's strongest episode--the Paula Deen, Bette Midler, and Lily Tomlin ones stand out most to me, especially for the entertainment value of their celebrity interactions--but overall the quasi-chat show format improved the show.
