I'm still reeling from the news of About a Boy's Nicholas Hoult growing up and playing a sexually ambiguous grad student, and now we've got another to add to the mix. (Not the sexually ambiguous mix, just the all-grown-up mix.)
Remember the cutie from Jerry Maguire? That little youngin' with the pinchable cheeks, spikey blonde hair, and glasses almost too big for his face? He was played by Jonathan Lipnicki (pictured), and The Hollywood Reporter posts that he's grabbed a starring role in a new psychological thriller called The Other Side of Innocence. Now a high school senior, Lipnicki will play "a damaged young man who becomes romantically involved with the unhappy daughter of the local chief detective while a serial killer is threatening their town."
The project is also a bit of a big return for scribe Robert Redlin. He hit the scene in 1990 with After Dark, My Sweet,

According to Hr, the young actor who made your heart melt in Jerry Maguire is 18 and set to star in The Other Side of Innocence. The flick is a psychological thriller in which Lipnicki plays a troubled boy who falls for the daughter of the local chief detective who has emotional problems of her own. To make matters more convoluted, there's a serial killer on the loose in their town. Dev-o-Ron Pictures is responsible for sending this one to the American Film Market. Devorah Cutler is expected to direct the flick, which is based on the screenplay written by Robert Redlin. Lipnicki's mother, Rhonda, and Cutler are set to produce. The little boy who stole the hearts of millions with his performance in as Renee Zellweger's character's son Ray in Jerry Maguire, is now in a psychological thriller. Jonathan Lipnicki may star in Dev-o-Ron Pictures "The Other Side of Innocence," which is being offered at the American Film Market. The film would have him as a damaged young man who starts a romance with the daughter of a local detective amidst the threat of a serial killer who is terrorizing their town.
