Flash Forward: Preview of Episode 7 "The Gift"

4 November 2009 11:30 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

On the previous Flash Forward, we had the Halloween episode, which definitely gave most of us the creeps.  Tonight we get "The Gift," so does this mean it's for Thanksgiving or an early Christmas?  Whatever the case, there's going to be some hand handling on this installment, given how we discovered details on the Blue Hand Club last week.

"The Gift" will continue the investigation on the mysterious Blue Hand, as Mark (Joseph Fiennes) and his partner Demetri (John Cho) are joined by other agents.  Gough (Lee Thompson Young) is back, along with M16 agent Fiona Banks.  She'll be portrayed by ER's Alex Kingston, guest-starring in the episode.

Collider Attends a Flashfoward Pilot Screening - Read Richard’s Reaction Plus Info from the Q & A

19 September 2009 5:38 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Whenever normal people hear the phrase “science fiction,” they run for the hills and never look back.  I am not one of those people, so it was with great pleasure that I accepted an invitation to see an advanced screening of the pilot for ABC’s new series FlashForward at the Arclight in Hollywood, followed by a Q & A with the producers and much of the cast.

Like the brilliant Lost and Battlestar Galactica before it, FlashForward is not your typical sci-fi and it should appeal to geeks and normal’s alike.  The makers of this show understand that it’s human drama and not cool visuals that make for compelling science fiction.  Set your phasers on fun and read more after the jump!

FlashForward (yes, they chose to put the two words of the title together just like the late, not-so-great NBC sci-fi series SeaQuest, Dsv) provides a chilling »

tMF Oscarwatch: The Young Victoria disappoints...?

30 August 2009 10:59 AM, PDT | The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news »

Is this Emily Blunt's year? I really hope so... Even though this is also the year fellow British actress Carey Mulligan (via An Education) made her magnificent acting known outside of the UK. So how was Blunt's acting as the young Victoria? Is the movie Oscar-worthy? Is her performance Oscar-worthy? Says Empire:

An elegant, entertaining, informative picture with a gallery of vivid supporting turns, this provisionally crowns the winning Blunt as a Brit-pic star - but it skimps a bit on the bodice-ripping, blood and thunder. - - -

- - - A more generous review from Digital Spy follows:

There's something about donning a Queen's crown that brings out the best in actresses. Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren and Judi Dench have thrived as monarchs, and now it's the turn of Emily Blunt to take on an iconic British ruler. Blaming her "sly eyes" for constantly being cast as bad girls, »

That Doctor Who Ensemble Has Got to Go!

23 July 2009 9:53 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

I have a prediction. Okay, so it’s not really a prediction as much as it is a pipe-dream. The folks behind the new Doctor Who catch wind of the reaction to his new ‘look’ and decide on a wardrobe makeover. I know, I know, some of you like it (fools), but to me it just doesn’t jive with the youthful new image I was expecting from Doctor Who. Oh, to heck with being diplomatic about it – he looks silly! Suspenders? Really?

When it was first announced that a younger dude would be playing Doctor Who, I braced for the kvetching about how our “Youth Obsessed Culture” was ruining everything, and it came. In fact, it came close to home. My wife, who is no old fuddy-duddy, was outraged at the idea of some twenty-something taking the sonic screwdriver duties. I understand the anxiety, David Tennant was one of »

Return of River Song: Alex Kingston to star in new Doctor Who

23 July 2009 3:42 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

With only three more Doctor Who specials featuring David Tennant, attention is now turning to the next series featuring Matt Smith.

We had the first sighting of Smith on set with his new companion Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan.

Smith has already been branded a fashion failure for his tweed jacket, bow tie and rolled-up trousers although - unsurprisingly - the tweed industry was full of praise for his new look.

And now there is a flood of pictures showing Smith, Gillan and a face we've seen before - Alex Kingston.

Kingston played archaeologist River Song in the two-part story Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, in which she revealed she knew the Doctor from his future/her past.

She said they had met several times before, implied an intimate relationship and revealed she knew his real name.

She also had a sonic screwdriver, which she said he had given to her. »

[DVD Review] ER: The Complete Eleventh Season

21 July 2009 7:40 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Fifteen successful and award-recognized seasons of primetime television would make even the most hardened TV studio exec turn their head. Further sweetening the appeal of this wunderkind program, the drama and stories allow audiences to come and go week by week with no loss in quality if they happen to miss an episode here or there. Faithful viewers are rewarded with medical and personal drama while the television vagabond gets an hour of high-class surgery, triage and bloody excitement. Few shows can boast such an unfailing return for its patrons.

At eleven seasons in The Simpsons was feeling the slothfulness of age slowing its wit and only continued to deteriorate. Even M*A*S*H* barely made the eleven season mark as the stories began to suffer and cast members lost the will to give another year to the program. Frasier just barely made it to season eleven and in »

The 11th Doctor wears a bow tie

Everyone's first look at Matt Smith in his Doctor Who costume was unveiled today by the BBC. Pictured to the right is Smith in his duds which seem to draw inspiration from a British school professor. The Army boots are a nice touch.

Seated alongside Smith is Karen Gillan who plays the new eleventh Time Lord's first companion, Amy Pond.

Filming began today on the fifth season of Doctor Who, the first with Smith in the role since the exiting of David Tennant. The final two specials featuring Tennant as the tenth incarnation of the alien Doctor will be broadcast later this year.

British tabloid paper The Sun blew a spoiler about a returning character that will be seen in the new season: ER actress Alex Kingston has been spotted on the Cardiff set of Doctor Who. Kingston played the fourth season character Dr. River Song in the two-part episodes »

Early Reviews & Information on ABC’s FlashForward

21 June 2009 6:37 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

It’s been said that the new upcoming ABC series called FlashForward won’t be a rehash of the novel of the same name by Robert Sawyer. In fact it’s being said that it may not be what you expect at all.

FlashForward is about a moment in time when everyone on Earth blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds.  During that time, people experience visions of where they’ll be on April 29th, 2010, or 6 months into their future (That could be creepy.)

The mass black out does have its tragic side effects - People are doing everyday things when the black out happens and this creates what is described as a semi-apocalyptic moment as planes, trains and automobiles crash with unconscious people at the controls.  It’s here that the FlashForward pilot kicks in, introducing the main characters of the show.

Kingston Considers More Cosmetic Surgery

13 May 2009 6:30 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

British actress Alex Kingston is seriously considering a cosmetic surgery makeover in an effort to win more roles in Hollywood.

The 46-year-old mum, who was once married to Ralph Fiennes, admits she had the bags under her eyes removed during her stint as Dr. Elizabeth Corday on TV medical drama E.R. - and now she's planning to go under the knife again.

She says, "I look at myself in the mirror and I can see that I am going to go jowly soon.

"I was talking to a make-up artist recently who said everyone has had work done. They are starting as young as 28.

"I'll go for auditions to play professional women with teenage kids, and they'll say, 'You're absolutely what we want, but we're going to go a little younger.'"

But Kingston will have to tackle her German husband Florian Haertel before she has any work done, admitting, "(He) would be angry if I did anything else." »
