TV executives at hit U.S. series Desperate Housewives have denied claims they've offered a spot on the show to controversial former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
The show's stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria Parker, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan were rumoured to share the small screen with the Alaskan Governor in an attempt by their bosses to boost ratings.
Hollywood publicist Hal Lifson tells the New York Post that series creator Marc Cherry is "very hot to trot to have her appear on the season-five finale".
Lifson, who is not involved with the show, adds, "Marc is highly enamoured of Sarah and sees her as the ultimate guest star (playing) a similar version of herself. The idea has gone over surprisingly well with execs at Disney, who see it as a blockbuster based on Sarah's huge ratings on Saturday Night Live."
The mother-of-five's cameo on the comedy sketch show last month sent ratings soaring.
But a spokesperson for Desperate Housewives network ABC has denied she is lined up for an appearance, adding: "There's no truth to it."
Cherry has declined to comment.

Hollywood's Ball-less Decision: Kidman as a Transsexual Male And you thought it was a gutsy choice... David Frank knows more than you. Care to disagree? Gasp! Nicole Kidman plans to marry Charlize Theron and go faux-tranny in The Danish Girl. Yep, nut-less Kidman will jump in the role of Einar Wegener, the first man who underwent a sex-change operation. Hurry, someone grab James Lipton and his 10-foot tall stack of note cards. What a courageous, novel choice on the filmmaker.s part! And how titillating! Ooo-la-la. Kidman and Theron and the more than likely artsy-fartsy sex scene. I hope MrSkin.com is adding some more bandwidth. Yep, those are the two main strains of opinions bellowed across the web when news of Kidman's casting broke. Either shock and fawning or pure meat-head mentality. What you didn't hear was many people calling bullsh*t on the casting. Well, bullsh*t, bullsh*t and bullsh*t.

After the highs and lows of the Emmys show the party really got started. For many, the first stop was the Governor's Ball like Heidi in yet another gown before the other bashes. Some were off to the ET/People bash while others went to hear Samantha Ronson spin at Kress nightclub for the TV Guide soiree. Lindsay Lohan came along for the ride and acted as a pillow for Samantha after a long weekend of gigs. Best Dressed candidate Hayden kept posing pretty before tonight's big Heroes return. The Mad Men folks had a lot to celebrate making history with their Best Drama Series win. In the press room the cast were clearly loving every second of it taking photos of each other on their iPhones, Jon Hamm pretending to light a cigarette as an homage to the Don Draper inside him while January Jones talked about how the

After taking the podium, the winners and presenters headed back to the press area to pose with their statues and field all sorts of interviews. Buzz and I were lucky enough to be back in the Press Room during last night's Emmys to catch the victorious in all their glory. Buzz has some of the best highlights from Mad Men, 30 Rock, Colbert, Stewart and more. Piven was the first to win and the first to come backstage where he quickly insulted the reality TV host opening saying he thought everyone was being "Punk'd" and called it a "celebration of nothing." Tina Fey was hilarious as always though she ran into a little trouble losing her bag! She told the room to keep an eye out for it saying, "It's a small purple purse with an iPhone in it with a picture of a naked toddler on it.” Ha. Alec Baldwin

The ladies were bursting with color and sparkle at last night's Emmy Awards. Christina Applegate looked positively radiant and was the talk of the night — smiley, happy and healthy. Mary Louise Parker was the most eye catching of all in her bright blue number though you all were fairly divided on the look while Brooke Shields lived up to the name of her show in Lipstick pink. Heidi Klum went dramatic while Eva Longoria was all tied up in a bow with Tony on her arm. Debra Messing was one of Fab's best dressed but what do you think? Oprah wowed in red as she opened the show after the cool What's my line? clip but unfortunately following her was the reality hosts talking about nothing. It was almost as uncomfortable as watching Ricky Gervais ask for his Emmy back from Steve Carell. Yes it was funny but I was getting a bit worried that Steve was going to cry or beat the crap out of him. Other quick thoughts: Steve Martin, Genius. Josh Groban, surprisingly cool! Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth, favorite presenting couple. Cruel joke that was perfect — making reality TV host category wait until after the commercial break to see who won. Desperate Housewives all dolled up. Yay Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Mad Men! Click here for all the winners from last night. As for next year, let's hope the Emmys settle on one host since this year's group was like an experiment gone bad.

Leave it to the ladies of Wisteria Lane to weigh in on neighborhood gossip. Eva Longoria Parker’s Desperate Housewives costar, Felicity Huffman, is putting those pregnancy rumors to rest. "She’s just fat, that’s all there is to it!" Huffman, 45, told People about Longoria Parker at Saturday's re-opening of the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Rumors of a pregnancy for Longoria Parker, 33, and her husband, Tony Parker, have been circulating all summer after the actress wore a loose-fitting sundress on a shopping trip and later debuted a fuller-than-normal bikini body in July. When "Desperate Housewives" first began in 2004 it was a unique little primetime soap opera that didn't feel quite so soapy. Credit that to the cast that included a few names we had heard of, the snappy writing and the overall quality of the production. The second season was a drastic decline and the third season was so-so. The fourth season could have possibly broken the show's audience and caused them to give-up if it didn't show any real potential of getting back to what made the first season so great and while it doesn't necessarily live up to what the first season started, it at least gives it a shot and makes each episode worth a little something. The fourth season begins as Lynette (Felicity Huffman) has cancer, Gabriel (Eva Longoria Parker) just got married to the mayor but is ready to run-off with her ex-husband Carlos (Ricardo Chavira), Bree

Some might be quick to dismiss this week as part of the post-summer lull, but others might see it as a week of films that have been years in the making . it's been 13 since the now re-paired Robert De Niro and Al Pacino were last on screen together, while Diane English's remake of "The Women" took 12 to make it to the big screen, and the Flaming Lips' "Christmas on Mars" spent a mere seven years in the offing. As for fans of the Coen brothers, it only seems like forever since "No Country for Old Men."
Another week, another 9/11 conspiracy film, this one actually getting released on the seventh anniversary of the tragedy. Loosely inspired by "The Maltese Falcon," this Dv noir offers something of a date movie for far-left conspiracy theorists who take issue with perceived abuse of power on the part of our government.

Actress Felicity Huffman landed her role in hit U.S. TV series Desperate Housewives in a shocking audition when she complained about the pitfalls of motherhood.
The mum-of-three stunned casting directors when she stumbled into her audition for the show, looking distressed.
She then told the agents "I'm losing my mind" in reference to raising her brood - and believes she got the job as a result of the comment.
Huffman says, "The women pulled back from me as if I'd said, 'I eat babies.' I felt such shame and remorse and humiliation. And I guess that's exactly what they wanted for (my character) Lynette.
"I'd just left two screaming kids in the bathtub and it was raining. I thought I pulled myself together well. Later on, one of the producers said, 'It was so great because you were such a mess and so frazzled, and your pants were filthy!'"

Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman knew she had found the perfect personal trainer when her new fitness guru told her to eat more.
The actress admits to having "a lot of trainers through the years," and was discouraged when they each tried to keep her below her ideal weight of 125 pounds (56.6 kilograms).
She recalls, "They (were) always like, 'Oh my god, you ate a muffin?' and 'What do you mean you weigh 125? You can't shoot at that weight.'"
And Huffman tells More magazine her new trainer, Kirsten Holtgreen, is a godsend: "She's the first trainer who's said, 'You're not eating enough.'"
