Comic actor Andy Dick has been arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and drug possession, reports say. The 42-year-old was detained in Murrieta, California in the early hours of Wednesday morning after he allegedly fondled the breasts of a 17-year-old girl before pulling down her top. Latest: U.S. funnyman Andy Dick has been released from jail following his arrest on Wednesday on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery.

The 42-year-old comic posted $5,000 (GBP2,500) bail following his arrest in Murieta, California, after onlookers reported his inappropriate behaviour.

Witness told officers Dick had walked up to a 17-year-old female outside a chicken wings food restaurant and "grabbed her tank top and bra and pulled them down and exposed her breasts".

Cops stopped Dick and friends at a nearby discount grocery store after they had driven away from the establishment in a truck.

Officers who found marijuana and Xanax in Dick's pockets during a curbside search added the star was "extremely intoxicated".

The latest arrest is not Dick's first run-in with police - the funnyman was arrested in 2004 for indecent exposure when he flashed his bum at a local McDonald's. Just last year, he was cited by police for urinating on the pavement and a building following a comedy club performance in Ohio.

There's something sad in all of this, and it would be a lot worse if Andy Dick had talent. But here he goes again, completely worked over by his own addictions. The latest incident happened outside a Buffalo Wild Wings in Murrieta, California, and involves Dick, marijuana, Xanax, and an unfortunate victim.

According to reports, the comedian groped a 17-year-old, and pulled down her tank top and bra to expose her breasts. He was arrested a short time later after the victim and a witness identified Dick after the truck he was a passenger in was pulled over by the local constabulary.

This guy's a mess. And there are certain messes out there who can be worth the trouble, whose talent is worth taking the risk, and who might benefit from a steady hand of reassurance. Robert Downey Jr. was one, for instance, hired for Ally McBeal while still losing to his demons.

Police picked the comic up in Murieta, California early on Wednesday morning after revellers at a local bar reported Dick's inappropriate behaviour.

They told the authorities he had pulled a 17-year-old female's T-shirt and bra down to expose her breasts after leaving the

bar.

Police stopped Dick and friends as they drove away from the establishment in a truck.

During a curbside search, police reportedly found marijuana and Xanax in Dick's pockets.

The intoxicated comedian was booked at a nearby police station and remains in custody as WENN went to press.
