NBC Radio Fibber McGee and Molly 15th Anniversary Special

On radio "Burns and Allen Show" (1932-1950) (ep. 23 June 1949) as himself

Hosted the 1939 "Maxwell House Good News" program "Behind the Scenes of the Making of 'The Wizard of Oz'". This marked the first time that songs from the film were ever performed on radio, and, because this program was broadcast two months before the film's actual release, it also marked the first time that most of the public heard these songs. Young not only acted as host, but substituted for Jack Haley, who was unable to appear because of a prior commitment. Young sang "If I Only Had A Heart", while four of the film's cast members, Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, and Frank Morgan sang the songs they sang in the film. The Singer Midgets did not appear; a chorus substituted for them. Also featured on the program was Fanny Brice, who performed a comedy skit as "Baby Snooks".
