This year's presidential election has certainly become very heated. As is usually the case, some celebrities have made a point of publicly supporting their personal choice for their Commander in Chief. One can assume they're hoping to influence the votes of the public. Director Ron Howard has generally stayed away from the political fray -- until now.
In an interesting video, Howard makes his case for why it's so important to vote for Barack Obama. To do this, he joins with his former costars Andy Griffith and Henry Winkler and they resurrect their iconic TV characters -- Opie and Andy Taylor from The Andy Griffith Show and Richie Cunningham and The Fonz from Happy Days.
Howard and Griffith haven't played their roles since the Return to Mayberry reunion movie in 1986. Winkler and Howard haven't played their Happy Days characters since the sitcom's last episode in 1984.

Aaaaay! The Fonz is back in Milwaukee to stay. After a local fund-raising campaign, a statue of the popular Happy Days character was unveiled today and many of the show's stars were on hand to give the bronze figure a thumbs up.
As longtime TV fans know, the Happy Days sitcom was set in Milwaukee. The series ran for 11 seasons on ABC but never actually filmed in the Wisconsin city. Henry Winkler's Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli began as a minor character but ultimately became the sitcom's most recognizable figure.
The statue campaign began in 2007 as the brainchild of the city's convention and visitors bureau, Visit Milwaukee, to help encourage tourism. The city needed to raise $85,000 to produce the statue. To help raise the money, the group sold "Bronze the Fonz" t-shirts, with $10 from each sale going to fund the project. Other local vendors also got into the act as well,

Henry Winkler will visit the UK to support the National Year of Reading. Winkler, best known as "The Fonz" from Happy Days, is scheduled to join Schools Secretary Ed Balls to launch the First News Reading Tour at St. Matthew's School in Central London. The actor is to discuss his own difficulties with dyslexia and promote his Hank Zipzer books. Winkler said: "I was told I was stupid, lazy and not living up to my potential most of my life. John Cleese, Daryl Hannah, Henry Winkler and illusionists Penn + Teller have been caught on camera punching a fan.
Steve Harwood has posted his quirky snapshots with the celebrities on his website SteveHarwood.com.
He claims Hannah took umbrage to his compliments about her mermaid film Splash, while funnyman Cleese "jumped out from behind a recycle bin, socked me in the belly, and made off with my Ritalin."

While we pace the carpet back and forth in anticipation of the fast-approaching Tribeca Film Festival (kicking off on Wednesday), we can bide our time with a puppet kidnapping, some Bollywood royalty and an Ewan McGregor sighting.
"Baby Mama"
If the fad of pregnancy movies began with last year's "Knocked Up," it reaches its second trimester with "Baby Mama," which stars comedy goddess Tina Fey as a wannabe mom who's fast approaching 40 and Fey's one-time Weekend Update deskmate Amy Poehler as the uncouth oddball who offers up the use of her womb in exchange for a bit of cash. Appropriately enough, former "SNL" scribe Michael McCullers makes his directorial debut with the offbeat comedy, which could serve as "Juno" for people deemed too fuddy-duddy to find the term "home skillet" amusing. "Baby Mama"'s also serving as Tribeca's opening night film.
Opens wide.

Over 20 years after Happy Days left primetime, Arthur Fonzarelli, aka "The Fonz," is headed back to his roots in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Happy Days premiered on January 15, 1974 on ABC and quickly became a cornerstone of the network's schedule. The series ran for 11 seasons and spawned a number of popular spin-offs like Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, and Joanie Loves Chachi, as well as a couple animated series. The sitcom initially focused on All-American, naive teenager Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard), his family and friends in 1950s Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Fonz, played by Henry Winkler, was a initially a minor character and hoodlum friend of Richie's who hung out at the local drive-in restaurant. He quickly became a breakout character and a series regular. As episodes passed, he became the show's most prominent and featured character. At one point, ABC even wanted to rename the show Fonzie's Happy Days to capitalize on the popularity.
