Robert Pattinson on Breaking Dawn, Unbound Captives and Bel Ami

7 November 2009 8:19 AM, PST | movies.about.com | See recent movies.about.com news »

Lots of interesting little facts came out of the New Moon press junket held Friday, November 6th in La, and among the little tidbits was an update on the fourth film of the series, Breaking Dawn. While nothing was confirmed by Summit, and no one would address the rumors concerning the possibility of splitting Breaking Dawn into a two-part film (like Warner Bros has done with the last Harry Potter book of the franchise), Robert Pattinson offered up what he's been told: "I think the tentative [start date] for Breaking Dawn is fall of next year. I think. They may well change that."

Pattinson's 2010 schedule is filling up, but the handsome actor who plays Edward Cullen in the Twilight series will definitely make room for Breaking Dawn, no matter how full his dance card winds up being.

"Depending on how things go, I'm doing a movie called Bel Ami in February, which »

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Set for Fall 2010 Start Date

7 November 2009 7:30 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

During a recent press tour for the upcoming The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the good folks over at Collider managed to ask the question everyone wanted to know: If and when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final chapter in the Twilight series was going to start shooting. Everyone's favorite British vampire Robert Pattinson replied: "I think the tentative time for Breaking Dawn is fall of next year. The studio may well change that. Depending on how things go, I'm doing a movie called Bel Ami in February, which is an adaptation of a Guy de Maupassant novel. And I'm doing, I hope, a Western with Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman called Unbound Captives sometime around there as well. I'm playing a kid who is kidnapped by Comanches when he was four years old, and he is brought up by them. His mother spends her entire life trying »

Robert Pattinson Talks 'Breaking Dawn' & 'Unbound Captives'

6 November 2009 9:50 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Good news, Twilight fans. You have the first official news for the fourth Twilight installment, courtesy of our own Jen Yamato, FearNet and the New Moon junket.* The magically-coiffed Robert Pattinson has confirmed that Breaking Dawn will begin filming in Fall 2010, and that it's penciled into his schedule for next year.

Of course, Dawn remains unconfirmed by Summit. The most controversial installment of the Twilight series, rumors swirl that the studio is hesitant to take it to the big screen. If it is made, it seems likely that it could be split into two films a'la Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Personally, I don't see Summit risking the money they'd make on #4, and they'll find a way to steer around the gorier aspects of the book. But now you know when to look for it, though you still have the madness of Eclipse pre-production to get through.

Saoirse Ronan is leading contender for Best Actress Oscar (IrishCentral)

4 November 2009 8:53 AM, PST | IrishCentral | See recent IrishCentral news »

Who’s the leading contender to win the Academy Award in February for Best Actress? According to the influential Los Angeles Times it’s none other than Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, who stars in “The Lovely Bones,” the film adaptation of the hugely successful Alice Sebold novel about a teenager who is raped and murdered, and watches from above the post-crime repercussions for the grief-stricken family she left behind, and the neighbor who committed the heinous act. The Times, in its awards blog called “The Envelope,” reported last week that Saoirse, all of 15, is simply captivating in the film, and that she totally eclipses her co-stars Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon and Rachel Weisz. “A spy tells us that Saoirse Ronan is in virtually every scene of ‘The Lovely Bones’ . . . and we hear that Ronan steals the picture from everyone. This 15-year-old actress is quickly climbing the Hollywood ladder,” the blog said. »

The Week in Film: Halloween Weekend

29 October 2009 12:18 PM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

Ho ho ho, Merry- wait, that’s not right. Gobble gobble! Happy Thanks- shoot, that’s not right either. Ahem. *evil high-pitched cackle* Happy Halloween! Ah, there we go. Sorry for the confusion there, folks. It happens when you try to get a Turkey Santa Claus costume for this special day. You get confused. For some reason, I couldn’t find one anywhere, but enough about me. And since it’s Halloween weekend, time for scary movies! Right?

Maybe not so much. At least not new ones, as it looks like Hollywood decided too many folks were going to be out trick-or-treating to check out a new movie this weekend. Fortunately or unfortunately, Saw VI came out last week and Paranormal Activity is still in theaters scaring up big bucks (more on that later).

First up this week, we have Michael Jackson’s sold out This Is It that opened on Wednesday. »

Humberto Carreno/Startraks

What a sweet-looking little boy!

Rachel Weisz and her fiancé, director Darren Aronofsky, were snapped strolling with son Henry Chance, 3, in New York City on Monday.

The actress, 39, recently said she doesn’t mind the occasional paparazzi photograph.

“Sometimes the paparazzi … trickle onto my street, take a few pictures of me and disappear, but I never feel hounded. I am really not on that level of fame. I go on the subway. I walk Henry to school.”

Next up for Rachel? The film version of the book The Lovely Bones, due out in December.

At the risk of sounding uneducated, I'll admit only within the past couple years did I become aware of the term "whistleblower" as well as the sort of subgenre in drama focusing on the brave characters who dare to take down powerful people and organizations. Variety reports that Monica Belluci (Shoot 'Em Up), David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Vanessa Redgrave (Venus) are joining Rachel Weisz (The Brothers Bloom) in the true story of a policewoman who uncovers an international scandal in a film called, aptly, The Whistleblower. Monica Bellucci, David Strathairn, and Vanessa Redgrave Join Rachel Weisz in The Whistleblower

Variety reports that Monica Bellucci, David Strathairn, and Vanessa Redgrave will join Rachel Weisz in the indie political drama, “The Whistleblower”.  Based on a true story, “The Whistleblower” is the directorial debut of Larysa Kondracki’s and tells the story of policewoman (Weisz) who risks her job and her own safety to uncover and bring to light a scandal involving both American contractors and the United Nations in postwar Bosnia.   You wouldn’t think a scandal could erupt at the intersection of “American contractors”, “United Nations”, and “postwar Bosnia” but I guess we’ll just have to suspend our disbelief.

Weisz is having a great 2009 so far.  She gave one of the best female performances of the year in “The Brothers Bloom” and she played the lead in Alejandro Amenábar’s “Agora” which became Spain’s top-grossing film of the year after only four days.  Weisz will next be seen »

Weisz was already on board to play a Nebraska cop serving as a peackeeper in post-war Bosnia. While on the job, she discovers that the United Nations has been covering up a sex-trafficking scandal and exposes it. No word yet on how Bellucci fits in but even well into her forties putting the word .sex. in close proximity to her sends unwarranted shivers down the spine of testosterone filled males. She.d be sort of wasted as a cop, maybe she.ll be trafficked. The Whistleblower starts shooting October 26th in Romania. That means by this time next year we.ll be forced to endure interviews in which Rachel Weisz pleads for the life of young girls sold »

'Batman 3' Rumors: The Greatest Hits Collection

18 October 2009 4:46 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Before we go forward here, let's lay the foundation: There's nothing happening on the third Batman movie right now. Christopher Nolan and his team haven't written the script, the title hasn't been announced, the release date hasn't been set, we don't know who the villain(s) will be, and nobody has been cast in any of those roles.

However, because The Dark Knight was the biggest movie in a decade and we know another one is coming eventually, it's human nature to get caught up in the rumors surrounding one of the most anticipated sequels ever. And there have been plenty of rumors to occupy our time over the past year-plus. So here's a collection of some of the best and worst.

Chicago – From the looks of things, you’d think “Where the Wild Things Are” director Spike Jonze is more than just Max Records’ director. You’d think Jonze was his 12-year-old star’s father, too.

Max Records, who briefly appeared in 2008’s “The Brothers Bloom” with Rachel Weisz, Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo, sat cuddled up beside Jonze in our interview. Chock full of pride, Jonze kissed Records on his cheek as the boy spoke surprisingly intelligently about his breakout role.
