Just a reminder that Hellboy II is glorious. If you are fan of Ray Harryhausen, or any of del Toros movies or even Barry Manilow then you owe it to yourself to go out and get this thing. It’s exactly the kind of film fans will watch over and over again and it will bring a smile to your face every time. It’s also likely to, perhaps somewhat unexpectedly, move you. del Toro deconstructs myth here even as he lays it on thick blending elements of martial arts cinema and even anime into the already familiar genre bending style that makes the Hellboy films so funny, so thrilling and so wondrous. There are monsters and creatures galore and intensely detailed worlds on display that almost take the bad taste out my mouth when I say the phrase cinematic spectacle. del Toro does a lot of things for show

The more I read about it, the more convinced I am that we will have an Arrested Development movie in the next couple of years. It gained steam earlier this week when Jeffrey Tambor said that he'd been contacted by the show's creator, Mitchell Hurwitz, just days before to discuss the project. But he's just one of the actors; they don't make the decisions in cases like this.
But you know who is the decider? Ron Howard. Howard was an executive producer of the show as well as its narrator, and he was very optimistic and candid when the subject came up during a Frost/Nixon interview with Coming Soon.
"The reason there's been so much back and forth is... well, for two reasons, is the business understanding coming from the studio side was not clear, so even though we were wanting to do it and said, 'Yeah, maybe we could' but things weren't defined.

Back In February, Hollyscoop reported that the Arrested Development movie was a go. Well, it's been months, and we started questioning that "confirmation" we got from Jason Bateman. But since then, Hollyscoop has run into a couple more cast mates, and gotten yeses from them as well, not to mention a full list of all the main characters on board on imdb! Jeffrey Tambor told reporters, "When the writer calls you, and the director, and the executive producer calls you, it's a pretty good sign. We want to close that. We want to bring that all to fruition." ...

"Arrested Development" movie is on. In a recent interview with Collider, one of the TV series actors, Jeffrey Tambor, insisted that the movie version is indeed going to be made.
"We're doing it. We are going. It's a go. Yeah, actually, just this week I talked to Mitch Hurwitz," he responded when asked about the possibility of the series being brought to big screen. "When the writer calls you, and the director and the executive producer calls you, it's a good time." He then added at the end of the interview that fans should keep their hopes up for it.
Following the story of a formerly wealthy, habitually dysfunctional family, the television version of "Arrested Development" revolves around the members of the Bluth family with the center attention on relatively honorable Michael Bluth who strives to do the right thing and keep his family together in spite of their materialism,

Thank you, kind, shiny-headed Ron Howard, for giving us renewed hope for the return of the Bluth family. The producer and voice of the cruelly stunted Arrested Development, who's currently doing the rounds for Angels & Demons, took time out to dish the latest to ComingSoon.net on the big screen version of one the most side-splitting sitcoms ever. The stars of the show have registered varying levels of awareness of the film's existence, with Jason Bateman practically announcing its greenlit status back in February, a view which was then supported by Pop-Pop Bluth, Jeffrey Tambor, as well as by Will 'Gob' Arnett in an interview with Conan O'Brian. Then Michael Cera and David Cross went and spoiled it all by saying something stupid like, "is this true?"However, Howard - as producer - should be the man in the know, and his take is: "I really hope we do it.

It's back to the model home for the Bluths! Jeffrey Tambor sounds mighty convincing as he demands that the Arrested Development film is, indeed, happening. Tambor tells fans: Keep your hopes up! How sweet. Does he know that we've been waiting two years for this? Does he remember that, originally, we were hoping that the show would stay on the air? Desperate fans of a television show crying out for a film can sometimes create good movie-making, as in the case of Serenity, and other times just desperate movie-making, as in the case of Sex in the City: The Movie. Either way, if you are a fan of Arrested Development, the time is now. You can still be afraid that they will ruin the texture of the show, but excitement is appropriate! Jeffrey Tambor told Collider.com that he's talked to the creator of the show, Mitchell Hurwitz, and that

Ever since going off the air in 2006, there has been no shortage of rumor, excitement and confusion surrounding an "Arrested Development" feature film. At one time or another, various members of the fictitious Bluth family have hinted at the possibility, but never was there anything well-formed, such as even a script. While we still don't have anything concrete to hold in our hand, we do have an unequivocal "we're doing it... it's a go" from Jeffrey Tambor (who plays George Bluth Sr.) thanks to an interview Collider recently had with the actor at a Hellboy II DVD release party. Now if you've finished jumping out of your chair and cheering, read below for some more of what Tambor had to say. Despite being one of the most well-received comedies, "Arrested Development" was canceled by Fox just after three seasons due to low ratings. In truth, the comedy is such ...

I'll be honest: I never really believed the legend of the Arrested Development movie. It was made up just to torment me. I'd get all excited, and then the moment would never arrive; the project would simply peter out; we'd hear less and less about it until the blogosphere buzz became a distant memory.
I still can't get too invested in this. So much could go wrong. But in the spirit of commiseration with fellow Ad-deprived fans, I share this news from a Collider interview with Jeffrey Tambor. Asked if he was growing tired of people demanding news about the Arrested Development movie project, Tambor replied: "Well no, because we're doing it." Oh snap! "We are going. It's a go. I actually just this week talked to Mitch Hurwitz, so we're doing it." No script or start date, but at the end of the interview he tells Collider's Steve Weintraub to "get your hopes up.

Visionary director Guillermo Del Toro transported guests into his innovative filmmaking process in an exclusive home entertainment presentation at nightclub Element in Hollywood earlier this week. Joining Del Toro were filmmakers Mike Mignola and Mike Richardson, and cast members Selma Blair, Jeffrey Tambor and Doug Jones. Guests were immersed in a recreation of the Troll Market as they were greeted by the film's lead troll, Mr. Wink, and a cadre of other characters from the world of Hellboy. Hellboy II: The Golden Army was released on DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def November 11th from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

So what's up with Arrested Development? Are they making a movie? Are they putting it off? Are they skipping it all together? Well, in the spirit of the season of democracy, I'd say if you were to put it to a vote of people who really mattered, the ayes would have it. Jason Bateman said this summer that was the plan. Jeffrey Tambor revealed on Craig Ferguson that it was the plan. Creator Mitchell Hurwitz has wanted to at least explore the possibility of a movie for some time.
On the flip side, there's Michael Cera, who said pointedly, "I don't think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway. I don't really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.” So far, at least, Cera is being overruled.
And Tambor is talking again, telling Collider

I caught up with Jeffrey Tambor on the red carpet for the Hellboy II: The Golden Army DVD/Blu-ray release party last night where he confirmed that an Arrested Development movie is indeed a go. He said, “Yeah, yeah, I just talked to Mitch (Hurwitz) this week and we’re gonna do it. We’ve moved on from hope to hopeful. Sounds like a sound bite if you’ve ever heard one..it’s a go.” Didn’t they pitch this to Ron Howard in the last episode of the series?

Nothing gives me a false boner like rumblings of an Arrested Development movie. And I haven't had a false boner since Roy Jones Jr. walked into the ring last week, so of course Jeffrey Tambor told Collider that an Arrested Development movie is definitely happening. He said that Mitch Hurwitz spoke to him last week, and even though he didn't have any idea about a start date, he did say that "when the writer/director calls you it's a pretty good sign". When pressed he also said that...

It's been a while since we last heard news regarding the long-gestating Arrested Development flick, so last night we pressed Jeffrey Tambor, who was out promoting the Blu-ray release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (which is awesome, btw), for an update on the status of the proposed Bluth family reunion:
"We're doing it," said Tambor, who received two Emmy nominations for his work as twin brothers George and Oscar Bluth on Mitch Hurwitz's critically-acclaimed -- and tragically short-lived -- sitcom. "I'm telling you, we're doing it...I talked to Mitch this week and it's a go."
"There's gos and there's gos," Tambor quickly clarified, adding that he hasn't seen a script yet. "I just know that Ron (Howard, Ad's producer/narrator) is on board, Mitch is a go, we're all on board."
If Ron Howard can't get an Arrested Development movie made, then nobody can. Now it's up to Mr.

Though some of his former Arrested Development co-stars have said they're ready to for a Bluth family reunion, Michael Cera says he isn't interested.
Back in February, Arrested alums Jeffrey Tambor and Jason Bateman confirmed in interviews that there were plans to do movie based on the cult-classic sitcom. Bateman said that, although series creator Mitchell Hurwitz "does not yet have a script, he has a good, solid understanding of what he'd like to do for the movie." Arrested's "Gob," Will Arnett, also confirmed that there were plans for a feature.
Unfortunately, the series' most famous castmember doesn't know anything about the movie plans and isn't really interested in reprising his role anyway.
While promoting his new romantic comedy, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Cera was asked about the Arrested Development movie. He told the National Post that he still hasn't been approached about the project and said, "I
