A Long 'Trip'

9 June 2003 | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

Thirty-six years after it was produced, the British Board of Film Classification, Britain's film censors, have finally allowed Roger Corman's The Trip to be released. The film, written by Jack Nicholson and starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Bruce Dern and Susan Strasberg, was the first to show a character experiencing LSD hallucinations. In a statement released today (Monday), the BBFC stated: "The board concluded that its portrayal of the hallucinogenic experience was unlikely to convince a modern viewer and took account also of the film's depiction of the downside as well as the pleasure of drug use."
