Bit by tenuous bit, Todd Solondz's next film is coming together. It started brewing in June of 2007, then stalled due to money issues, and then got cooking again in August with the help of Werc Werk Works. But now, oh now, the film has got its superstar.
The Hollywood Reporter posts that Paris Hilton has signed onto the dramatic comedy, along with Allison Janney and Charlotte Rampling. (In addition: "Ciaran Hinds, Shirley Henderson, Renee Taylor, Michael Lerner, Michael Kenneth Williams, Chane't Johnson, Eric Wareheim, and Chris Marquette are among the other actors that Werc Werk Works announced as joining the project. ")
Once called Life During Wartime (there's no title attached to the current news), the film still stars Paul Reubens and focuses on a family during wartime. If nothing has changed, it brings together characters from Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness with different people playing the roles. I

Paris Hilton spoils all our fun - we're excited about learning from The Hollywood Reporter that Todd Solondz has cast four more actors in his forthcoming "part sequel/part variation" to 1998's Happiness. Three of said additions are Allison Janney, Paul Ruebens and Charlotte Rampling. The fourth is Hilton.Still, if anyone could do something interesting with the Hottie And The Nottie star, it's Solondz, and despite our disappointment at ever seeing the still-rich-beyond-belief-despite-credit-crunch, attention-seeking heiress on screens ever again, we can't help but raise a curious eyebrow (which is more than she can do) at this pairing. The ironically titled Happiness remains a masterpiece of misery, a tough-going but hugely rewarding ensemble piece about the underbelly of American suburbia - a theme the director has returned to over his body of work, which also includes the equally heavy Welcome To The Dollhouse, Storytelling and Palindromes. This latest project marks

Paris Hilton is to add another movie role to her portfolio - she has been lined up for a new film by acclaimed director Todd Solondz.
The socialite will act alongside Allison Janney, Charlotte Rampling and Paul Reubens in the as-yet-untitled project about a group of dysfunctional characters.
The movie is described as "part-sequel, part variation" to Solondz's hit 1998 tale Happiness and filming is already underway in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Hilton's previous big screen experience includes the 2006 horror film House of Wax and more recently the rock opera musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, which is currently on limited release in the U.S.

It really has been too long since the last Todd Solondz picture, over 4 years by my count. The filmmaker paints awkward portraits of middleclass life without pulling any punches. While Palindromes was a bit of an art-experiment swapping actresses for the lead character ranging from a heavy black teenager to a young girl to Jennifer Jason Leigh, it seems Solondz is going back to familiar ground making a quasi-sequel to his masterpiece Happiness. Although there is not any casting overlap from the first film which starred Jane Adams, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Lara Flynn Boyle. With the new film, that still has no title, the casting is down right eclectic: Twitch favourite Shirley Henderson, Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens, prolific character Michael Lerner, screen icon Charlotte Rampling, Allison Janney, Ciaran Hinds and the kicker: Paris Hilton. Just about everything Ms. Hilton has participated in in has been a full blown train wreck,

Paris Hilton has landed a role in writer-director Todd Solondz’s new untitled dramedy. The socialite joins an ensemble cast that includes Allison Janney, Paul Reubens, Natasha Richardson, Michael Lerner and Charlotte Rampling. The story revolves around a group of individuals struggling to find a place for themselves in an unpredictable and volatile world. The movie will take off on elements from the director's breakout Happiness, in a project producers are describing as a part-sequel, part-variation on that film. Happiness opened in 1998 and centered on three middle-class New Jersey sisters dealing with their problems with their families and sex lives. It starred Philip Seymour Hoffman and Lara Flynn Boyle. Solondz previously directed Fear, Anxiety & Depression, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Storytelling and Palindromes. The new film will be financed and produced by the Minnesota-based inside Werc Werk Works and is scheduled to arrive sometime next year.

What is sexy? Now don’t answer all at once, there’s no point shouting at your computer as we can’t hear you – just think it over. For some it’s all about physical attractiveness – a saucy smile, suggestive wiggle of the hips or ripped muscles, while for others it’s harder to define and can be mixed in with behaviour, voice or something as random as how someone smells first thing in the morning. Looking to lock down what sexy means in terms of movie goddesses, men’s magazine GQ has listed their top 25 sexiest women in film ever and there are a few surprises in there…
The use of the word “ever” confirms that this list isn’t comprised entirely of modern silver screen sex sirens, but strikes a balance between stars from today and yesteryear. Having selected these 25, GQ is leaving the ultimate battle for the

It is one of those quotes that can sum up an entire film and leave a lasting impression on you. It occurs when the Duke of Devonshire, looking out his window of his estate, finds children playing and laughing in his garden. It is so well kept and groomed that the garden doesn’t even possess qualities of freedom. The wealth and power that certain people consume can’t give them freedom or happiness. Whether worrying about politics, wars, love affairs or what to wear to an extravagant party, adult life, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries, comes with shackles that can’t be undone. Hollywood can’t seem to get enough of Keira Knightley, treating her like some sort of thoroughbred athlete whose most productive years are right now. With the The Duchess, Knightley has now appeared in more than 20 films since her role as Amidala’s handmaiden in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. And like a fourth-quarter tailback, the more she runs, the better she gets as she convincingly demonstrates in The Duchess.

Starring Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, and Hayley Atwell
Directed by Saul Dibb
Rated PG-13
When Keira Knightley burst onto the scene five years ago, not many people thought we were looking at The Next Big Thing, but in that short time, the 23-year-old Knightley has become an incredibly bankable female movie star (Forbes ranks her as the second-highest earning actress) and she has done so while taking on some challenging roles.
Unlike a lot of actors in her age group, Knightley has not strictly been a blockbuster girl, nor has she frittered away her talent making forgettable romantic comedies. Indeed, outside of the Pirates of Caribbean trilogy, nearly every role she has taken brings a certain amount of risk, and they're the films most young movie stars would avoid, because they aren't potential franchises.
She picked up an Oscar nomination for Pride and Prejudice, astutely chose to work

Cinematical has just received this exclusive clip from the period drama The Duchess (click image above or head after the jump to view), directed by Saul Dibb and based on Amanda Foreman's best-selling novel. Starring Keira Knightley as Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, the film chronicles the life of a vibrant beauty and celebrity of her time; a woman held prisoner in an unhappy marriage, but one who'd risk it all for the love of a young politician. (Been there, done that -- right ladies?) Also starring Ralph Fiennes, Charlotte Rampling, Dominic Cooper and Hayley Atwell, the following clip takes us inside a pretty intense confrontation between Georgiana and the Duke of Devonshire (Fiennes) as they battle one another for the respect each feels they deserve.
The Duchess (which is currently enjoying a limited release) expands to theaters across the

Producers Michael De Luca, Alison R. Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta are set to develop a remake of Alan Parker’s 1987 mystery thriller “Angel Heart,” according to Variety.
The original was based on William Hjortsberg’s novel “Falling Angel” and followed Harry Angel, a New York detective who encounters supernatural forces after being hired to track down a singer.
Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro, Lisa Bonet and Charlotte Rampling starred in the 1987 version, which the trade reports “caused a stir for its steamy sex scenes.”
De Luca recently produced “21” and “The Love Guru.” He has a bunch of upcoming projects he’s currently working on, including Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” and an untitled erotic thriller directed by Paul Verhoeven.
I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence, but “Angel Heart” is not the only Parker film to get a big-screen update. Just yesterday, we found out his 1980 Oscar-winning musical “Fame

While it was first reported that Helen Mirren was supposed to be making the new Jon Amiel film The Angel Makers, it turns out that another superb actress, Charlotte Rampling, will in fact be playing the lead role. I've read some conflicting reports about the origins of this movie, but tt seems there is a book written by Jessica Gregson that is actually based on a historic crime called The Angel Makers of Nagyrév. Here's more details (http://www.screendaily.com/ScreenDailyArticle.aspx?intStoryID=40746 Category=467) from Screen Daily: Charlotte Rampling will star alongside Daniel Bruhl and Anna Friel in London-based The Producers' First World War dark comedy Angel Makers, which Jon Amiel will direct. Determined to be a player in the wider affairs of the world, she proved that she could out-gamble, out-drink and outwit most of the aristocratic men who surrounded her. She helped usher in sweeping changes to England as a leader of the forward-thinking Whig Party.
