Just one of the four roles pictured below earned an acting bid for its star. Which one? Here's the answer. Answer: Eleven years after she won in the supporting race for "Cactus Flower," Goldie Hawn was nominated in lead for a featherweight comic role widely dismissed as not worthy of the Oscars' attention in 1980. The other three performances pictured in this quiz were all iconic screen turns outrageously snubbed by academy members. "My Fair Lady" won eight Academy Awards in 1964, including best picture, but its "lady" wasn't even nominated, probably because voters resented the fact that Audrey Hepburn lip-synched to Marni Nixon singing. Rosalind Russell never won an Oscar, but was nominated four times. Unfortunately, she was snubbed for her greatest role — as the brazen stage mom Rose in "Gypsy." The role is so dramatically showy that it usually nabs awards attention. On Broadway, Angela Lansbury (1975), Tyne Daly (1990) and Patti LuPone »

Harry Connick just had what's called a listening party. That's a party where invitees listen to your new not-yet-released album. Whitney Houston had one two weeks ago. Her producer? Clive Davis. Harry's is out in October, label's Sony, title's "Your Songs." His producer? Clive Davis. I knew Harry's listeners at the Tribeca Grill -- like Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Bernadette Peters. What I didn't know is, how does an album actually get itself born? »

Picture it: Warner Brothers, 1930. Three siblings of ambiguous genetic origin are running amok on the Warner Bros lot. Studio executives take drastic measures and lock them in the water tower unaware that this is only the beginning of Yakko, Wakko and Dot Warner’s reign of mayhem.
Fast forward to 1993. I was a college freshman still wrapping my head around the concept of friends-with-benefits, and Yakko, Wakko and Dot were escaping from the water tower, eager to start their shenanigans after a 63-year hiatus. The rest is part of 90s cartoon history as beloved characters like Slappy the Squirrel and Pinky and the Brain became pre-TiVo recording necessities.
It seems that after 9,000 signatures were collected on a petition somewhere, the good folks at Fox Kids finally decided to release this animated classic on DVD for the next generation to enjoy. This 25 episode, five disc collection follows the antics and energy »

Streep at 60: Let's talk each Streep nomination and its competition.
Meryl Streep won the BAFTA, Golden Globe and the Lafca prize for her two part role in The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981) but she lost the Oscar anyway. The nominees were:
Katharine Hepburn, On Golden PondDiane Keaton, RedsMarsha Mason, Only When I Laugh
Susan Sarandon, Atlantic City
Meryl Streep, The French Lieutenant's Woman
The French Lieutenant's Woman opened.
On Golden Pond made Katharine Hepburn a four-time Oscar winner. She's still far out in front of everyone in the acting Oscar derby save Jack Nicholson who has three and could conceivably join her. He is 72 and still works far more often than Hepburn was working in her 70s when she won this.
The snubbed in '81? Sissy Spacek in Raggedy Man and Sally Field in Absence of Malice were Globe Drama nominees and Bernadette Peters was the Musical/Comedy Globe winner for Pennies From Heaven. »

Bright colors were all the rage at last night's Cfda Awards in NYC. Blake Lively and Ashley Olsen could not have looked more different in their pink and orange respectively, but both ladies embraced a love of color. Diane Kruger also stood out in red and black even without her best accessory Josh Jackson on her arm. A very baby-bump showing Heidi Klum, Kirsten Dunst and Kerry Washington went more metallic. What do you think about all the ladies at one of fashion's biggest nights - find out who they're wearing and Fab's love it or hate it polls! It wasn't just about the women though, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Lautner both suited up as did the newest box office sensation Bradley Cooper still glowing from the success of The Hangover. Tallulah Willis looked right at home with the fashionable crowd kicking off her Summer internship at Harper's Bazaar with style. »

Last week was the two-hour season finale of ABC's Ugly Betty, and it ended with a death, a startling revelation, a cliffhanger, and Betty about to start the next chapter in her life.
There was a Lot going on during this two-parter, so I'll concentrate on the highlights...
Betty and Marc interview for editor jobs with all the big NYC magazines. Betty manages to pique the interest of the woman from The New York Review by telling some B.S. story about how she had a subscription when she was a kid, and it changed her life, etc. (I'll have to remember that if I'm ever interviewing with Honcho.)
Jodi (Bernadette Peters) informs her that the magazine loved her and wants to offer her a job, but when she calls to confirm finds out that Jodi has stolen the job out from under her. Backstabbing in the publishing world? Who would have thought? »

Ever wonder what stars do when they're not working? They're seeing each other's plays and visiting backstage. The other night at the Eugene O'Neill, after Jane Fonda finished "33 Variations," Bernadette Peters was enraptured with Fonda's dog, Tulea, and was reminding everyone about her Broadway Barks event July 11 in Shubert Alley. Sam Waterston, on hiatus from "Law & Order," said he's writing a screenplay about financier Andrew Mellon. Presidential historian Barry Landau suggested Waterston perform his famous Lincoln soliloquy at the Barack Obama White House. Tim Robbins »

Marc's love life on Ugly Betty has been less than eventful since he and fiancé Cliff broke things off. But things get very interesting when a magazine mogul makes a move on him — and the mogul's not a he.
Guest star Bernadette Peters, who plays Jodie Papadakis, previewed Thursday's episode by telling TVGuide.com her character "is starting to make a play for him."
