2012 is one of those strange movies where you feel like you shouldn’t like it but cant help yourself enjoying and even sometimes laughing at the world’s destruction, either because of it’s slightly cheesy and humorous script or because the effects are so darn good that it just looks fantastic.
If you’ve not been following the story on HeyUGuys previously, 2012 is a story, in a nutshell, about the end of the world. I’m going to try and write this review with zero spoilers but I’ll warn you before I say anything close to one.
In the movie, there are two sets of main characters, the first is led by Oliver Platt and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the government scientists who spot that disaster is going to occur in 2009. The other group are a family led by John Cusack who is struggling to come to terms with the divorce from his wife, »

Probably The spectacle movie of 2009 is going to end up being Roland Emmerich’s latest big-budget disaster flick, 2012, which focuses on the Mayan prophecy that the world will end in December of the year 2012. The $200 million, special-effects laden, film stars the likes of John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton and Danny Glover, and is set to crash into theaters in a week’s time.
However, with a film of this size, you know the buck rarely stops at one. In this case, Emmerich is already looking ahead at making more out of his latest disaster tale. Recently news surfaced that there was a 2012 sequel spin-off TV series in the works (yes, they’re thinking about furthering this seemingly finite disaster story). But wait, how can there be a sequel, in any form, of 2012… isn’t it supposed to be about the end of the world? That’s what I thought, »

John Cusack jokes to "Extra" that he feels old on the 20th anniversary of his classic flick "Say Anything."
But he's grateful so many people still love the movie, which hit theaters in April 1989. A 20th anniversary DVD was released on Nov. 3.
"It's nice to be talking about something that you did 20 years ago," he told "Extra" at the junket for his new action flick, "2012," out Nov. 13.

Movies making the leap to TV is not a new nor particularly novel phenomenon. Just in recent months, we’ve reported on a number of such schemes (see Related Content, right). But this one’s different, as the movie being touted to make the transition hasn’t even opened in cinemas yet. We’re talking about 2012, the doomsday blockbuster starring John Cusack (who’s been pretty quiet of late), Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton and, hot off his turn in Zombieland, Woody Harrelson. It’s not released until next Friday, 13th November and yet when interviewed by Entertainment Weekly at the film’s premiere; director Roland Emmerich was full of these future plans. Maybe he reckons he has to churn it out quickly, what with the world ending in 2012. »

Tuesday night, at the Los Angeles red-carpet premiere for "2012" — that most disastrous of all disaster movies — Adam Lambert told reporters that he feels honored to have contributed "Time for Miracles" to the film's soundtrack. So how do the film's stars feel about it?
"I love him," Amanda Peet told MTV News of the "American Idol" runner-up. "I love him. I love him."
John Cusack, meanwhile, was less honored than amusingly confused when asked about the man known as Glambert. "I have no clue," he confessed. "No, I've seen 'American Idol.' They have the guy, Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He was on that, right? Anderson Cooper won a few times."
Well played, Cusack! Peet wasn't able to play it »

Moviemaker Roland Emmerich enjoyed making upcoming disaster movie 2012 so much, he's now making plans to turn the project into a TV drama.
In the film, John Cusack and Amanda Peet race to avoid a series of end-of-the-world events, and now the man behind the special effects wants to continue with the franchise on the small screen.
He tells EW.com, "There's plenty to do in a TV show. The plan is that it is 2013 and it’s about what happens after the disaster. It is about the resettling of Earth. That is very, very fascinating." »

Prominent astronomer and astro-historian Dr. E.C. Krupp has urged film fans not to panic after watching John Cusack's upcoming disaster movie 2012 - because there's no way the end of the world will come so soon.
In the movie, Cusack and Amanda Peet race to avoid a series of cataclysmic events but Krupp, the director of Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory, insists the film is all fiction and conspiracy theorists who believe the end of the world is nigh needn't worry about 2012.
He tells WENN, "Despite the apocalyptic claims and movie posters, 2012 is not the end of the world as we know it.
"There is no scientific evidence to suggest that the world will be destroyed in 2012. The 2012 doomsday idea starts with a misinterpretation of the Maya calendar."
Krupp has debunked the 2012 doomsday idea in the cover story of the November 2009 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine.
The accomplished astronomer and author is an internationally renowned expert on ancient astronomy, including the Maya, and has visited nearly 1,900 ancient and prehistoric sites throughout the world.
He says, "If you believe what you hear, the ancient Maya of Mexico and Guatemala kept a calendar that is about to roll up the red carpet of time, swing the solar system into transcendental alignment with the heart of the Milky Way, and turn Earth into a bowling pin for a rogue planet heading down our alley for a strike." »

It’s the holidays. We know this because the movies tell us so. This year they waited exactly one week after Halloween to start the Christmas fare with Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol. But even though the month starts with Christmas, the movie month plays out just like Thanksgiving.
At first, we’re given an array of wonderful treats that’s we’ll happily gobble up like George Clooney in The Men Who Stare at Goats or George Clooney in the stop-motion Wes Anderson movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. Plus, teenage girls and a few others, will have their vampire appetites filled with The Twilight Saga: New Moon. But then, just like Thanksgiving, you gorge a little too much. And even though you’re full, you look around for something more to eat … and that’s when Old Dogs seems to be your only option.

Halloween weekend was pretty empty of new theatrical releases, but that's definitely not the case for this upcoming weekend. Your choices of new films include an exploration of alien encounters, a couple facing a moral dilemma that - if they can live with making the wrong choice - will make them rich, men staring at goats and other bizarre mind control experiments, and Robert Zemeckis' latest excursion into the world of performance capture films:
The Box starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden
Disney's A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman
The Fourth Kind featuring Milla Jovovich and Elias Koteas
The Men Who Stare at Goats starring George Clooney and Ewan McGregor

My significant spouse and I are debating whether to go to “2012″. I, naturally, am firmly in the “Yup” camp as destruction of this quality and scope comes perhaps once in a Sci-Fi movie going lifetime. The spouse unit thinks that maybe the movie could be depressing and perhaps a “cryer”. A sobbing wife in public is a troubling thing, fraught with hormonal minefields with plenty of room for stupid husbandy fumblings. So, I may go alone and make it a reporters outing. I’m with you Roland! Here’s an interview with John Cusak, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Amanda Peet as they wax on about their feelings about that date thing and their experiences working on the film. Thanks Comingsoon. A snip: Q: What are your personal thoughts of what will happen in 2012? John Cusack: Do you know the book, “The Return of Quetzalcoatl”? That book, I think, is a »

Peter and Neal are up to their necks in models due to Fashion Week taking New York by storm.
For any guy watching this show, you gotta love the multitude of gorgeous model extras that really have no point to the episode. If you're a girl, here's looking at you hottie Neal Caffrey!
The new FBI agent is hot in an Amanda Peet kind of way, but her role in Threads really isn't much convincing. Are you really suppose to believe that a size zero has the ability to take down a man four times her size? I don't think so!
Once murders start to pile up on their White Collar crime, Neal realizes that they must step it up and use their witness as bait to catch the international criminal.
Overall we think the second episode proves to be a great followup for the show's pilot. We're still waiting »

Actress Amanda Peet has lost $900 (£565)-worth of jewellery after a thief broke into her New York loft apartment.
The Whole Nine Yards star's assistant, Michelle Werner, stopped by Peet's home in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning when she was confronted by a burglar who had broken in through the skylight.
The man, who was holding Peet's jewellery box when he was interrupted, allegedly snapped, "What's up, b**ch? I live here", before fleeing the property, reports the New York Post's gossip column Page Six.
Werner was unharmed in the incident and the crime was reported to the police. It is not known whether the burglar was caught.
A spokesperson for Peet was unavailable for comment as WENN went to press. »
