The rapper issued a come and get me plea to Simon last week to be a judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ and now the music mogul says he would be delighted to welcome Eminem onto the panel.

(Musical) Monologue - "Honey you'll hurt yourself"

17 November 2009 4:24 AM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Jose here with the Monday Monologue.

When thinking of Howard Hawks' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the first image that comes to everyone's mind will be that of Marilyn Monroe performing Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.

People who haven't seen the film know it because it's been reenacted by people like Nicole Kidman, Geri Halliwell, Kylie Minogue and was the base of Madonna's entire Material Girl video. And how could they not homage it when the performance's so damn iconic?

Marilyn knew what it meant to be a showstopper, but within the movie we also find a hidden gem of sorts in Jane Russell's performance. She plays sidekick to Monroe and while it's the blond bombshell getting all the attention, Ms. Rusell knew how to leave a mark of her own.

In what appears to be an inconspicuous number halfway throughout the film- after she's been dealing with lack of »

[Movie Review] Pirate Radio

16 November 2009 11:21 PM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

The end credits for Pirate Radio is a collage of all the rock albums released between the time period the movie takes place in (1966) and present day. It starts off well, with the likes of Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, then comes the headscratchers like Eminem and Kylie Minogue. What bothered me about it is not the incorrect genre identification, but the not-so-subtle implication that they all belong in the same category, and that is a new generation of music that supplants the old dogs establishment of classical music.

This is no more evident than in the film’s villain, a checklist caricature of a bureaucrat played by Kenneth Branagh, who’s so unbelievably square that he keeps his Christmas dinner a silent affair, doesn’t understand how jokes work, and says desperately uncool things like, “That’s the point of being the government. If you don’t like something, »

Arctic's Alex Turner inspired by Kylie

3 November 2009 6:16 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Arctic Monkeys star Alex Turner has admitted that he watched Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Beyoncé's arena shows as inspiration for his group's upcoming tour. The frontman confessed that he was not an expert on playing arenas and claimed that he was impressed with Minogue's concert style. "I'd never even been to a gig in an arena. But recently, knowing we've got this coming up I've been trying to dip my toe into that. So I've seen Britney Spears at The O2, I saw Kylie the other week, and we went to see Beyoncé in Japan - to try and see how it pans out," he told NME. "And so those are the only gigs in arenas I've ever been to, apart from like WWF Wrestling when I was six, but that doesn't really count. "There's (more) »

Athens Theatre Presents Little River Band Live In Concert 11/5

2 November 2009 11:53 AM, PST | BroadwayWorld.com | See recent BroadwayWorld.com news »

Little River Band was the first Australian band to successfully conquer foreign markets from an Australian base.

Within eight months of their birth, Lrb had already scored three Australian Top 20 singles and two Top Ten albums. In 1976, after their self-titled debut album was released in the USA, the long grind of 13 Us tours in eight years had begun.

By 1982 they became the only act - from anywhere - to have a top ten Us single for six consecutive years.

Headlining their own major shows in America, and touring internationally with the likes of the Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, America, and the Eagles was a huge learning curve that honed Lrb into one of the finest live bands in the world.

Record success ran alongside - total record sales around the world have eclipsed the 25 million mark. 16 hit singles by 1985, as well as gold, platinum, and multi-platinum album sales awards. All-told Lrb »
