Arctic Monkeys star Alex Turner has admitted that he watched Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Beyoncé's arena shows as inspiration for his group's upcoming tour. The frontman confessed that he was not an expert on playing arenas and claimed that he was impressed with Minogue's concert style. "I'd never even been to a gig in an arena. But recently, knowing we've got this coming up I've been trying to dip my toe into that. So I've seen Britney Spears at The O2, I saw Kylie the other week, and we went to see Beyoncé in Japan - to try and see how it pans out," he told NME. "And so those are the only gigs in arenas I've ever been to, apart from like WWF Wrestling when I was six, but that doesn't really count. "There's (more) »

Little River Band was the first Australian band to successfully conquer foreign markets from an Australian base.
Within eight months of their birth, Lrb had already scored three Australian Top 20 singles and two Top Ten albums. In 1976, after their self-titled debut album was released in the USA, the long grind of 13 Us tours in eight years had begun.
By 1982 they became the only act - from anywhere - to have a top ten Us single for six consecutive years.
Headlining their own major shows in America, and touring internationally with the likes of the Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, America, and the Eagles was a huge learning curve that honed Lrb into one of the finest live bands in the world.
Record success ran alongside - total record sales around the world have eclipsed the 25 million mark. 16 hit singles by 1985, as well as gold, platinum, and multi-platinum album sales awards. All-told Lrb »

A banned video of Kylie Minogue has won a top award. The raunchy clip of the pop star - riding a bucking bronco in stockings and suspenders for British underwear firm Agent Provocateur - has been named the Best Ever Celebrity Viral Ad after netting over 350 million hits on video sharing website YouTube. The staggering number of hits for the 90 second clip, titled 'Proof', was over 300 million more than the second placed clip, featuring soccer star Ronaldinho. Earlier this year, the 2001 clip - which was deemed too sexy to show on television - was voted the world's top cinema advert. Kylie was not the only Australian star to make the list, which was compiled by »

Alexandra Burke only trusts homosexual men. The 'Bad Boys' singer would love to have a male fan base similar to those of Madonna and Kylie Minogue because she feels closest to her gay friends. She said: "I love gay men. They're the only ones that I can trust. My friends Cormac and Dwayne are the most beautiful spirits in my life and I can trust them with my heart. "I would love to be a gay icon, but I've got a lot of hard work to do first." The 21-year-old songstress admits most of her respect for gay men stems from the way her pals have been unaffected by her quick rise to fame after winning UK TV »

Just a few days after "American Idol" winner Kris Allen tweeted that he finished his self-titled major-label debut (and misses Nickelodeon's "Doug," by the way), the full track listing for the November 17 album has been revealed.
While the debut had many musical cooks, according to the track listing obtained by Entertainment Weekly, it appears that songs co-written by fellow "Idol" alum Chris Daughtry, as well as those with singer/songwriter Mat Kearney, did not make the cut.

Kearney had previously told MTV News that the tune he was working on with Allen would rough up the squeaky-clean Conway, Arkansas, native's image. "It's driving ... it has some edge to it," Kearney said earlier this month. »

Surprise! We're busy into Austin Film Festival, but there are actually a number ofmovies being released this week that aren't playing at Aff.
Amelia -- They had me at "Mira Nair" (Monsoon Wedding, The Namesake), and lost me in one of the least cohesive films I've seen in a long time. If you're addicted to period pics, you'll still be disappointed. Read my full review for more.
Astro Boy -- The latest adaptation of the manga-fied Pinocchio-esque story of a robot boy. It's not just a kid's movie, it's actually a little bit dark, and a little bit smart. And the animation is so sharp it almost felt like 3D. The three kids I saw it with give it three thumbs up.
Blue -- Hindi language, filmed in Thailand, with a cameo by Kylie Minogue. How could I not list it? That's not an endorsement, but it seems so ... noteworthy. »

Pretty people suit up in skimpy swimsuits under the crystal blue waters of the Bahamas in India's most expensive ($21 million) film to date. Although "Blue" has been promoted aggressively for months, this year's big Diwali holiday release is up against an urban love story and an eagerly awaited big-name comedy that will likely leave "Blue's" revenues high and dry.Aarav (Akshay Kumar), the playboy owner of a shipping company, and his business partner and best friend, Sagar (Sanjay Dutt), battle over whether to dive for the biggest secret cache of treasure in the Caribbean. When Sagar's estranged little brother (Zayed Khan) shows up fresh from Bangkok, trailed by a drug lord demanding $50 million, Aarav and Sagar decide to take the plunge and search for the sunken vessel. Two love interests -- elegant former Miss Universe Lara Dutta and the ubiquitous Katrina Kaif -- catch the »

'Blue' (2009): Beautiful babes and Bahamian beaches can’t salvage this wreck—'Blue' is flat-out bad. Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) discovered a sunken treasure decades ago and accidentally killed his father while trying to retrieve it, and for some reason, his father’s dying request was that Sagar never return to the spot—perhaps as punishment for his fatally dumb mistake? Fast-forward to the present and Sagar’s younger brother Samir (Zayed Khan) has lost $50 million of the mob’s money (stupidity apparently runs in the family), and with the prodding of his friend Aarav (Akshay Kumar), Sagar relents and gets the treasure to bail him out. Incredibly, Sagar is the only person who knows where it is, even though the shipwreck is barely below the surface. The acting is abominable, the climax dull, and the surprising denouement utterly ridiculous. But at least the actresses look great. »

In this action-packed Diwali weekend, Ajay Devgan is working hard to promote his home-produced All The Best - Fun Begins as it faces up to hand-to-hand combat with mega-releases Blue and Main aur Mrs Khanna. Fresh from appearing on MTV, Ajay and co-star Bipasha Basu have now grabbed the front cover Filmfare at a critical moment - with Ajay looking suave in a moustache and Bipasha looking gorgeous in a chic backless number. "I have earlier acted opposite Ajay only in serious cinema,” she says, “I am keeping my fingers crossed for the comedy flick opposite him. And it was also all laughs working with Rohit Shetty. When Rohit narrated the script I laughed continuously for two hours. So you can imagine how crackling it’s going to be if it’s so funny at the narrative level."

India is already doing "Chiggy Wiggy" with Kylie Minogue, although the film Blue for which she delivered it is yet to be released on October 16th. Kylie's meaningless cacophony "Chiggy Wiggy" in collaboration with Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) has become a chartbuster and household word in India, a signature line for Blue, set-up new trend for Bollywood music, and taken up plenty of column inches. Following the disappointing showing of Acid Factory last weekend, Bollywood is on the top of its form this Diwali weekend with three big releases. The underwater epic Blue with Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan - not to mention guest appearances from Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue - certainly looks the pick of the bunch. However, Salman Khan on a roll from Wanted looks set to put up a fair challenge in Main aurr Mrs Khanna, especially as it also stars Kareena Kapoor. Sanjay Dutt pops up again in All The Best, which could be the dark horse of the weekend as it also stars Ajay Devgan, who knows how to do comedy - and bags of eye candy in Bipasha Basu and Mughda Godse.
