Ben Kingsley – sorry, Sir Ben Kingsley – is shaping up to be a very busy man.The actor has lined up no fewer than five films through his production company, Sbk Films (wonder what that stands for?), with firm commitments to star in at least three. First up is naval drama Jutland 1916, about an epic sea battle that took place during World War I. Sir Ben will play Admiral John Jellicoe, while Nick Willing will adapt the screenplay from the book by Peter Hart. Then there’s Duncan, a romantic fantasy written by Barton Randall about a woman who – swear to God – reconnects with her childhood elephant toy. Kingsley will voice the toy. The 64 year old actor/producer will also star as Charles Curtis, the only part-Native American to serve as Us Vice-President in Whispers Like Thunder, a tale about three Native-American sisters and their 65-year legal battle to protect a

Entertainment Tonight has posted a new video from the set of Prince of Persia, the upcoming video game adaptation being directed by Mike Newell and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The flick stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, an adventurer who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Most of the below video is complete Et nonsense, but it does give a brief look at some of the action scenes. In the video Gyllenhaal also confirms that he’d be down for sequels. Due to hit theaters in 2010, Prince of Persia also stars Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley.

Jake Gyllenhaal's new movie has brought chaos to film studios after scorpions were brought to the set.
Pest control experts have been called into Buckinghamshire's Pinewood studios after two of the potentially deadly creatures were spotted on the loose after being imported with props shipped over from Morocco for new fantasy film "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," which also stars Gemma Arterton and Sir Ben Kingsley.
A studio source said: "There are 1,500 different types of scorpion and we don't know which species these are. They're fairly small and said to be sub-adults."
"The two scorpions were captured alive. Once they have been properly identified, we hope they will be repatriated to a country where scorpions are common."

In many ways Transsiberian is Brad Andersons quiet little break into the mainstream. Too bad not many people noticed. Anyone wondering if this is just another forgettable suspense thriller I would suggest a peak back at both The Machinist and Session 9. This is a movie with scads to say and was easily one of the better more complex thrillers out this year and as different as it is it clearly springs from the same fertile morally vested imagination. Like all of Andersons films the basic building block of the story lies in the unfolding of secrets and the tragedies that are rooted in them. Supporting Andersons great screenplay are Woody Harrelson and Emily Mortimer as a couple returning home from a short term mission who find themselves befriended by a dubious young couple and pursued by Ben Kingsley who may or may not be a Russian Police Officer. Welcome to this week's edition of Spin-ematical, chock full of alternatives to election coverage!
Though some of the celebrity voices were useless, Jack Black is great, and the film itself is pleasant, good-natured, and respectful of Asian culture. Available in at least seven editions, including widescreen, full-screen, Spanish, a Christmas gift set, with and without Secrets of the Furious Five (a 20-minute short), and on Blu-ray; oddly, this doesn't release until Sunday. Buy it.
Traveling by train in the dead of winter from Beijing to Moscow should be much more restful than what happens to Woody Harrelson and Emily Mortimer in this adventure / suspense / thriller; Ben Kingsley plays a menacing Russian detective. I'm recommending this one sight unseen because Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Machinist) directed.

This week's list of DVD releases is kinda sorta missing a big name: Kung Fu Panda. You see, that movie will be released this weekend. Why? I guess to push some deals at retail outlets. Too little too late for Circuit City, I suppose, but I can't come up with a better reason.
I mean, it can't even be delivered to where you are before Monday at the earliest, so if you want to watch it with your kids over the weekend, this is the time to do it. But why not just release it today instead? I have no answer for you, unless it's an election day thing. It's a strange experiment and I'm not entirely sure how it will benefit DVD sales. Anyway, look for it in stores on Sunday, November 9th.
Beyond that, though, there are few titles worth mentioning:
An affable if not entirely invigorated TV adaptation,

The big-screen remake of Get Smart, starring Office funnyman Steve Carell in the role of comically inept secret agent Maxwell Smart, leads this week's batch of new DVD releases*. Also debuting today on DVD: Machinist director Brad Anderson's indie thriller Transsiberian, starring Woody Harrelson and Ben Kingsley; the animated holiday special Shrek the Halls; the straight-to-dvd animated comedy Futurama: Bender's Game ; and yet another completely unnecessary pair of Star Wars box sets.
(*This week's other major release, the Dreamworks animated hit Kung Fu Panda, arrives on DVD Sunday, November 9. More on that later.)

Because of the mention of Jerry Bruckheimer Films on the first page and the overall well written text I'm inclined to think it is a legit script of Prince Persia The Sands of Time (but an early version, the final should not be that much different though). After flipping through the pages I have the impression that the movie will be close to the spirit of the original video game. reports the blog (http://prince-of-persia-trailer.blogspot.com/2008/10/prince-of-persia-screenplay-leaked.html) dedicated to the Disney movie, Prince of Persia. - - - - - - They just announced that an earlier version of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473075/) script has been leaked (http://www.scribd.com/full/7536126?access_key=key-1lov7x4sbnwegeky1zu9). Photos from the set of the Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes has hit the internet. Just Jared scored the big scoop, posting photos that reveal actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson, respectively.
"Clearly, I'm going to do it better than it's ever been done," Downey Jr. jokes of his role as the famous detective. "The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I was by the weight of it and the amount of people who will be watching to see if it's gotten right."
Ritchie himself has expressed concerns about the film, reportedly worrying about whether or not Downey could handle an English accent. Those fears have been asuaged for the director, who reports that "Robert Downey has the best English accent I've ever heard." This should be no surprise to anyone whose seen Tropic Thunder, who can attest to

Shooting for Mike Newell’s adaptation of the popular video game “Prince of Persia” is under way, and Defamer has a first look at Sir Ben Kingsley as Nizam. Check out the set pic just above.
The plot of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” follows Prince Dastan (Gyllenhaal) as he teams up with a princess (Gemma Arterton) to stop a ruthless leader from laying his hands on the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can be used to reverse time and rule the world.

Defamer got themself a picture of Sir Ben Kingsley taking a break from filming Prince of Persia. I like how he's got that 'evil moustache' thing going on, I mean how are we supposed to know he's playing the villain if he hasn't got an 'evil moustache'?

I'm not too acquainted with ancient Middle Eastern gang signs, so I can't be positive what Ben Kingsley is throwing up. But I have to assume it's evil, since he is the villain of Prince Of Persia. The movie (subtitled The Sands Of Time) is based on the long-running and bestselling videogame series, and features Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role. Kingsley, seen here on set in costume (unless he just came from a Thunderbirds reunion), plays baddie Nizam.

Riding a wave of positive buzz and the rising stardom of Anne Hathaway, Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married crushed all comers, earning $33,667 per screen at nine theaters in New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto, according to estimates compiled by Box Office Mojo. Hathaway appeared everywhere to promote it, even gamely spoofing herself as host on Saturday Night Live. (Loved her as Mary Poppins!)
Too much attention may be paid to Keira Knightley's ribs, but she was undoubtedly the reason that The Duchess made $7,047 per screen as it expanded to 127 locations in its third week. Keira and costume dramas seem to be the right fit; I wouldn't be surprised if this one drew an older audience that consistently attends British historical flicks.

If you’re keeping track, or looking for any tidbits, the much anticipated translation of the Ubisoft game, Prince of Persia, has reportedly started filming on the 16th of September.
As we’ve noted previously, Jake Gyllenhaal of Brokeback Mountain fame, stars in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Also starring in the flick are Gemma Arterton, Sir Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Toby Kebbell.
The project is an effort between Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films and is slated for a 2010 release. It’s about a prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from doing some evil deeds.
So why am I not jazzed about the upcoming new video game-to-movie effort?
At the moment it seems to me that Prince of Persia has some serious industry backing with Disney and Bruckheimer. This combination alone gives me the sense that it has potential.

Rose McGowan is in hot water with her producers of the new film Fifty Dead Men Walking. While the film was making the rounds in Toronto last week, McGowan told reporters that she would have joined the Irish Republican Army if she had been in Belfast at that time. Rose added that she understands why many in Northern Ireland resorted to violence during their conflict with England.
Fifty Dead Men Walking depicts Martin McGartland's infiltration into the IRA in the late 1980s and also his torture at the hands of the group once his cover was blown. Because these things run deep, McGartland is still in hiding, having escaped from IRA capture in 1991. He was later shot multiple times, allegedly by the IRA, in 1999, before being relocated again.
So you could see why producers of a film that calls itself "an even, nonjudgmental" account of those events might feel
