Recently Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan were seen advocating and voicing their opinions at an award show that Bachchan Senior is the brand ambassador (read: Iifa), regarding the environment. However, the first family is often seen riding around in their fancy high-end vehicles including Lexus SUV’s. On the green carpet, the father-son duo spoke about the urgent need to control "emissions of toxic gases."
While in India, the cars have not yet been banned, in the United States, these bulky cars will slowly be "phased out" in order to help reduce carbon dioxide discharge. An unnamed source from the industry went on to claim, "It is funny how they talk about global warming and eco-friendly means of travel, but when it comes to implementing it themselves, they fail miserably."
On a side note the Bachchans are individually working on different projects. Starting with the most senior Bachchan, Amitabh is working

Amitabh Bachchan recently cut short a trip to Europe to visit his doctor in Mumbai following a recurrence of the stomach pains that saw him hospitalised last year. "I drove straight to my doctor on arrival late last night and after some external physical examinations was subjected to Ct scans," he explained. "The results do not show anything, but the trouble exists, albeit on a much smaller scale than the last time. I do not think that there is a need for alarm, but I do not want to take chances."
Despite being 66-years-old, Amitabh continues to work very hard. The movie Zamaanat in which he plays a blind lawyer will be released later this year. A story of unfulfilled love in which Amitabh takes the lead, it also stars Arshad Warsi and Karisma Kapoor. He is also working on Pa, a movie about progeria in which he appears as

When the trailer for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island hit the Web weeks ago, just about everyone was surprised at how genuinely spooky looking the film seemed to be. It's rare that a genre site like ours ever gets to cover a Scorsese film, so to say we were pleased is an understatement. That being said ... we now bring you the film's first official one-sheet.
The film, written by Laeta Kalogridis and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, and Max von Sydow, centers on the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

20 Most Anticipated Movies Still to Come In 2009 At the beginning of the year I made a list of my Top 15 Most Anticipated Films of 2009. Of that list I have now seen five of them. Nine out of the remaining ten made this list as I bumped Alejandro Amenabar's Agora since it has still yet to get picked up by a distributor due to rather weak reactions out of the Cannes Film Festival. However, a few films have made their way onto this list thanks to strong film festival reactions as I have put together a list of 20 films to look forward to as we move into the final six months of 2009. One film I didn't include merely because it is coming out next week and I felt it would be a wasted space is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I am undoubtedly anticipating seeing it and had it been

Ever since I watched the trailer for Shutter Island I have found myself very interested in this movie. The casting is great as it stars Ben Kingsley nad Leonardo DiCaprio and it appears to have a very cool and atmospheric feel to it. Below from Film1.nl you can checkout a very cool new poster for the film Synopsis; It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Shutter Island's Ashecliffe Hospital. He'd been gunning for an assignment on the island for reasons of his own -- but before long he wonders whether he h...

Miss the good ol’ moments when Martin Scorsese made psychological thrillers? Well whimper no more, as this October the Departed director is bound to bring the A-grade head games with his adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel, Shutter Island. Lehane’s work has been previously been adapted for films like Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as U.S Marshall Teddy Daniels, who with the help of partner Chuck Aule (played by Mark Ruffalo) investigate mysterious business in a mental asylum for the criminally insane off the coast of Massachusetts. Jackie Earle Haley, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Patricia Clarkson, Elias Koteas and Michelle Williams also star.
Even having read the book, this trailer is pretty exciting. Some intense performances are promised, from all different corners of crazy. Jackie Earle Haley is certain to be one to watch in a role that might out whack his taking on of Rorschach in Watchmen.

Gathered here in one convenient place are my recent reviews that awarded films Zero Stars, One-half Star, One Star, and One-and-a-half Stars. These are, generally speaking to be avoided. Sometimes I hear from readers who confess they are in the mood to watch a really bad movie on some form of video. If you are sincere, be sure to know what you're getting: A really bad movie.
Be aware, movies that fall into the category of "so bad they're good" should generally get Two Stars. And when Pauline Kael wrote, "The movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash, we shouldn't go at all"--well, great trash should ideally get 2.5 stars or even higher.
Many of these reviews were written in the carefree spirit of those in my books Your Movie Sucks and I Hated, Hated, Hated This Movie. Cheap shots and snark are permitted.

Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo
Shohreh Aghdashloo Casts No Stones
By
Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo made history as the first Middle Eastern woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, when she received a Best Supporting Actress nod for her work in House of Sand and Fog (2003), opposite Ben Kingsley. Born in Tehran in 1952 to an upper middle class family of intellectuals, Shohreh spent her youth performing with various avant-garde theater companies during the country’s period of social and artistic freedom under the rule of Iran’s Shah. Most prominent among these groups was the renowned Drama Workshop of Tehran. Based upon her work with the latter group, Shohreh was cast by the two leaders of Iran’s New Wave filmmakers—Abbas Kiarostami and Ali Hatami—to play starring roles in Gozaresh and Sute-Delan, two seminal films of the period, both released in 1977.
The following year, 1978, changed everything with

Yesterday I took you on a tour through Johnny Depp’s long and storied film collaborations with director Tim Burton. Why? Because new images from Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” popped up online, including a clear look at Depp in full costume as the Mad Hatter. I didn’t sleep last night, thanks to that image.
Now I want to give you something a little bit different. Burton’s “Alice” is hardly the first one. There have been no less than 20(!) film adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s story, including several foreign versions, an anime reinterpretation and a porno. After the jump I’ve inserted a bunch of images from “Alice” across the years. Is the porno in there, you ask? You’ll have to click to find out (it isn’t).
This isn’t the first “Alice in Wonderland,” but it’s the earliest still I could find. This 1933 version

If you take questions of tastes in starring vehicles out of it, isn't this a win win whether you're stage right or left? Judd Apatow says he is a terrible lover. The "40-Year-Old Virgin" director admits his first sexual experience was a disappointment and his performance in the bedroom hasn't improved much since.
He said: "I said to the girl after my first time, 'Hey, was it good for you, too?' And she said, 'Well, I guess it'll get better eventually.'"
Apatow has also revealed he uses dye to keep his genitals looking youthful by disguising any graying hairs.
The 41-year-old Hollywood heavyweight explained to Playboy magazine: "I use Grecian Formula now. It still looks distinguished. From a certain angle it kind of looks like Ben Kingsley."

The trailer for Fifty Dead Men Walking from Canadian filmmaker Kari Skogland has been released by Tva Films (its Canadian distributor) today. This indie first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year but I missed seeing it there and still haven't had the chance to catch it. This trailer makes me feel like I shouldn't have missed it, as it looks like a good drama. Fifty Dead Men Walking stars Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, and Rose McGowan (even though you don't really see her in the trailer). It seems like it has a good cast and great story, but I never heard many positive reviews from Toronto, so I'm not sure what to think. Martin Scorsese? Check. Period outfits? Right. Boston accent? Um, yes. We're on to you, Leonardo DiCaprio. Shutter Island looks peppered with elements from your other recent movies, excluding, of course, the evil madhouse doctors, violent hallucinations and psycho dude from Watchmen. To be fair, it looks a bit more My Bloody Valentine than Blood Diamond. Set in 1954, the film features DiCaprio as a U.S. Marshall investigating a secretive mental institution for the criminally insane run by Ben Kingsley. But it's more like an Island populated with potential Oscar nominees, with a cast that includes Michelle Williams, Mark Ruffalo, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer, Max Von Sydow and Jackie Earle...

This movie is going to scare the daylights out of you! Leonardo DiCaprio stars in an amazing new thriller by Martin Scorcese called Shutter Island. It’s Leo like you’ve never seen him before! He stars as a federally-appointed agent who travels to the island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate a missing patient case. He’s forced to relinquish his firearms upon entering the premises, and, unbeknownst to him, his freedom. He soon realizes the whole institution, including the head warden played by Sir Ben Kingsley, is in on a huge secret. Michelle Williams stars as...

In the original The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Don Knotts played a character that was completely lame until he turned into a fish and helped out our fighting men during WWII. I can only assume that an updated version would involve a character that turns into a fish, goes to help our fighting forces in Afghanistan, and flips around until suffocating in the desert. Nevertheless, Kevin Lima (the man who brought us Enchanted and who will forthcomingly bring us Candyland) has signed on to direct a remake of the 1964 flick for Warners. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will, like the original, be a blend of live-action and animation. Which could turn out to be pretty fantastic considering the advancements that have been made in CGI and in mattes. Of course, it would depend completely on which star would carry the project. So who do you pick? Jim Carrey? Steve Carrell? Sir Ben Kingsley
