1987 - releases album "Whitney"

1992 - appears on The Bodyguard (1992) soundtrack - a movie in which she starred - spawning the massive hit "I Will Always Love You"

1995 - appears on the Waiting to Exhale (1995) soundtrack, with artists such as Brandy Norwood, Aretha Franklin, Toni Braxton and CeCe Winans. She also starred in the film.

1996 - appears on The Preacher's Wife (1996) soundtrack, a movie in which she starred, spawning the hit "Step By Step" (which features Annie Lennox on background vocals - Lennox also wrote the song)
