It was the opening day of the Disney-mgm studios in Orlando. The stars were there with their children. There was an official luncheon at the Brown Derby, modeled after the legendary Hollywood eatery. I was beside myself. I was in a booth sitting next to Jack Brickhouse, the voice of the Chicago Cubs. A man walked over and introduced himself. "Bob Elliott." Oh. My. God. Bob, of Bob and Ray.
For me he was the biggest star in the room. Who, after all, compared to even one half of Bob and Ray, was Tom Hanks? Whoopi Goldberg? Art Linkletter? "Gosh all whillikers, Mr. Science!" I said, "What's that long brown object???" Bob didn't miss a beat: "That's known as a board, Roger."
Another man was steaming toward us through the throng. A middle-aged man, well-dressed, tanned, with a pleasant smile. "Hi, Jack!" he said. "Say, I hear Ernie Banks is invited. »

Hulk Hogan refuses to believe his marriage breakdown was caused by his reality TV show, insisting he and his ex Linda were already on the path to divorce.
A camera crew began following the Hogan family around in 2005 for U.S. reality show Hogan Knows Best, which was cancelled in 2007 - the same year the star split from his wife of 20 years.
But the 56 year old doesn't think their break-up was caused by the series, insisting, "It was the total opposite. It was like my marriage was already unravelled."
The wrestling legend admits he still struggles to accept Linda is now living with her 20-year-old lover, who's younger than his daughter Brooke.
He adds, "It's real turbulent and I don't talk to her at all and, you know, it's just like it's tough because... she's got her own gym and she lives in California and she's with her young boyfriend and the hardest thing was just trying to talk to her when this kid that she's in love with used to go to the same school with my children. Trying to rationalise to Brooke and (son) Nick that, hey man, you gotta love your Mom no matter what happens." »

He may wear a boa and make his living (kinda sorta) beating people up, but Hulk Hogan is a sensitive man. During his drama-filled divorce from Linda, he reached such a low point, he was downright suicidal. "I actually believed in my heart that oath you make, 'til death do us part, for better or worse," he explains to E!'s Daily 10. "I actually believed everybody was on that page. It blew my mind, never been hit that hard." One night, he "emotionally lost it," he says, and even pulled out a gun. Out of nowhere, the phone rang. It was his friend and American Gladiators cohost Laila Ali, and she pulled him from the abyss. "She goes, 'You left, you were so... »

We’ve seen a lot of origin stories in the past few years – Wolverine just came out this summer, Magneto may or may not be happening, there is always Superman and of course Batman’s origin has been told several times. Heck, The Hobbit can even be considered an origin story. Ghost Rider was unfortunately given an origin movie that dated back to the old west. I’m a huge fan of Tremors and the 4th movie went back to the old west as well, for an origin story about the subterranean monster worm.
So I understand why studios and copyright holders want to make origin movies on comic book characters and even monsters, but I cannot for the life of me figure out this latest news coming from “wrastlin” news site Lords of Pain. WWE, in a bid to capitalize on one of their brands, is in the process »

Hulk Hogan (in yellow, right), the 80s legend that put WWF WWE on the mat map, announced this week that he's returning to the squared circle and joining the ranks of Spike TV's Tna Wrestling. It's a big step up in exposure for the Florida-based promotion as it struggles to pull away a little market share away from Vince McMahon's Connecticut Death Grip.
While the WWE has either live or taped shows on various cable outlets Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights (with occasional weekend specials on NBC), Tna has used the last couple of years to build an ever-growing following in Spike's Thursday night schedule. »

Hulk Hogan is making the chat show rounds revealing shocking details about his life, including suicidal thoughts, in his new book, "My Life Outside The Ring." Hogan revealed in his recent memoir that it was a phone call from Laila Ali, his American Gladiator cohost, that saved him from a suicide attempt. Last night Hogan talked to NBC's Late Night host Jimmy Fallon about enduring his life for the last few years, which has been filled with nothing but bad news. His son had a near fatal car accident that permanently disabled his passenger and best firend, John Graziano, a war veteran. Nick Hogan served time for the reckless driving. Also, Hogan's wife Linda divorced him citing infidelity and »

Former wrestler Hulk Hogan is heading back to the sport - he has signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action (Tna).
The former WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) champion has swapped sides by heading to rival wrestling firm Tna and will make his TV debut for the company on Thursday night.
Hogan, who hasn't wrestled professionally since 2006, admits he is delighted to be returning to the sport and has thanked his fans for sticking by him.
He says in a statement, "I'm thrilled to be jumping back into the world of professional wrestling. My fans have been asking me to return to the business for many years on a full time basis, but the timing or the opportunity has never been right until now. Tna Wrestling is a great company with an already excellent fan base, business and broadcast partner. I firmly believe now is the time for some change at Tna as they are positioned to jump to the next level in their development and I'm here to help make that a reality."

Check Jimmy Palmiotti off your list of comics creators still looking for a Halloween costume. According his tweets, he's got his Comedian outfit from "Watchmen" all taken care of—even if he's still working on growing out his mustache.
Meanwhile, Jim Lee sketched a costume last night that you won't see him draw too often, and he posted an image in his feed. There are a few other Twitter pics you should check out as well today, as the webcomics crew from Transmission X seems to have set up an exhibit in Portugal featuring some mighty fine decorations. Unfortunately, there are no pics to accompany Rob Liefeld's announcement that he'll be getting "Lakers stuff" shaved into his head to kick off the new NBA season.
Plenty more awaits you after the jump in the Twitter Report for October 28, 2009.

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan credits boxer Laila Ali with saving him from taking his own life after she called him to check up on her pal.
The sporting legend, real name Terry Bollea, confesses in his new book that he was on the verge of suicide when his 20-year marriage to Linda Bollea broke down in 2007 and his son Nick was hospitalised following a serious car accident
Hogan hit rock bottom when he found himself downing prescription drugs and reaching for a gun.
In My Life Outside The Ring, he writes, "There were times when I thought that a whole bottle of pills would go down easy... Then I noticed the gun in my hand. I was careless with it... I kept my finger pressed right to that trigger and if I moved that finger an inch in the right direction I would have blown my brains out."
But it was a caring phone call from Ali, his then co-host on U.S. reality show American Gladiators, which convinced him not to go through with his suicide bid.
During an appearance on America's Today show on Tuesday, he recalled, "All of a sudden the phone rang. And it was Laila, and she said, ‘Hey, what’s going on? You’re on the set. You’re all depressed. We’re worried about you. You going to be Ok?’
"She called with no agenda, just to say hi and check on me... It snapped me out of it. At that moment I switched gears. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Her voice saved my life, it really did."
But Hogan insists he's now in a much better and healthier place in his life.
He adds, "I just want people to know, life is good... I'm happier than I've ever been." »

Hulk Hogan admits he was nearly driven to suicide following his wife Linda's divorce filing in the fall of 2007 - a surprising admission the wrestling legend makes in a book dedicated to none other than his ex-wife. "To Linda, I pray that you find peace and joy in life. I love you," Hogan writes on the dedication page of My Life Outside the Ring, a tell-all autobiography, co-authored by People senior writer Mark Dagostino, that hits bookshelves Tuesday. The affectionate dedication may come as a shock to fans who followed the couple's bitter divorce, which ended when they reached a settlement last July. »
