British actresses Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller joked with reporters at a recent London awards ceremony - by pretending to be lovers.

The pair has been pals since starring in Dylan Thomas biopic The Edge of Love together.

And when they were both stuck for a date for the British Independent Film Awards on Sunday night, they decided to team up and keep each other company.

Knightley joked with press at the event, insisting that their night out together means they are now officially a couple - even holding Miller's hand while posing for photographers on the red carpet.

She told the assembled media, "We couldn't get a date for tonight. It's so hard. So we decided be each other's date."

While Miller added, "It's true. Our secret's out - we're dating."

Knightley is currently romancing British actor Rupert Friend, while Miller has reportedly revived her love affair with American TV star Balthazar Getty.

British actress Sienna Miller is reportedly planning to make a movie with her on/off boyfriend Balthazar Getty.

The Alfie star has been romantically linked to oil heir and actor Getty since the summer when they were seen in Prague in the Czech Republic, on the set of Miller's new movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

The pair was rumoured to have split last month, but they appear to have revived the romance, after Getty was photographed joining Miller for a string of dates in London last week (beg24Nov08).

And now Miller is reportedly looking to collaborate with her actor beau - who split from his wife, Rosetta, earlier this year - on a new movie project.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Her advisers are warning how unpopular that would be.

"People haven't taken to them as a pair due to the way they got together. They fear people will find it a bit too sickly - and as though they are rubbing his wife's face in it.

"But Sienna insists it could be movie gold and is looking for a script."

Actress Sienna Miller has been awarded $22,300 in damages from two British tabloid newspapers over claims they breached her privacy.

The Alfie star filed lawsuits against The Sun and the News Of The World over pictures and articles which appeared in the publications over the summer.

She became a target for the paparazzi in June and July after it was revealed she had embarked on a relationship with married oil heir and actor Balthazar Getty - just weeks after splitting from Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.

And a lawyer for News Group Newspapers, which own the publications, has acknowledged that the tabloids "shouldn't have published such information or such photographs".

In a letter to Miller, News Group's lawyer Tom Crone wrote, "On the specific facts and circumstances of this case you had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect of the information and the photographs that we published. We also accept that we should not have published such information or photographs."

Miller's lawyer Mark Thompson stated that the terms of the out-of-court settlement had been approved by London's High Court.

Thompson added the actress is still seeking various damages against paparazzi photograph agency Big Pictures (UK) Limited - which Miller accuses of waging a "campaign of harassment" against her.

The hearing is expected to start early next year.
