Stargate Universe 1.08 "Time" Recap

9 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

An offworld adventure?! No Way! That was my first thought when the first frame of Sgu came across my screen tonight.

Then I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter. Was Not what I had expected. Let me begin…

The Set Up

The show opens with the crew coming through the gate unto a dense jungle area. The whole scene is seen through Kino Vision!!!!

Eli works the nerves of just about everyone since he is playing with the Kino and not working on stuff, which is kind of messed up with most of the soldiers walking around looking 'cute' and not lending a hand. Eli comes across Tj and soldier laughing extremely hard and figures it's about him. The group finds some fruits, but don't know if they are edible. Eli tries one and spits it out and Rush declares that Eli just exposed himself and »

The Birthday Boys and Girls of 11/11

1821 Fyodor Dostoevsky, legendary Russian author of Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov fame. So many movies inspired by his work. But he's not the legendary Russian author that'll be getting all the press this next couple of months. That'd be Leo Tolstoy, soon to be chattered about when The Last Station emerges as an Oscar contender.

1887 Roland Young, popular 30s and 40s character actor (Topper, The Philadelphia Story, Ruggles of Red Gap)

1898 René Clair, (pictured left), wonderful French writer/director. If you've never seen Le Million I urge you to rent it maintenant. His Oscar nominated films include The Gates of Paris (1957) and À nous la liberté (1931)

1899 Pat O'Brien --Ewwww, not that one people -- the actor! whose film career stretches alllllll the way from the 1931 classic The Front Page to 1981's Ragtime.

Balthazar Getty Angling For Brothers & Sisters Return

9 November 2009 12:53 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Tommy Walker was a key character on Brothers & Sisters until the end of last season, when he went off the deep end professionally and would up in seclusion in Mexico.

This somewhat strange plot development coincided with actor Balthazar Getty falling out of favor, supposedly, with the show's cast and crew, amid personal drama.

Getty was never taken off the show's credits, however, and we just saw Tommy make a surprise appearance two episodes ago, only to bolt for Seattle at the end.

What is up with this guy?

According to TV Guide, the once-embattled star is looking to have his full-time, series-regular status restored next season and is in talks with ABC to make it so.

“That’s what we’re talking about,” Getty said from the set, where - spoiler alert - he's making another cameo for Justin and Rebecca’s December 6 wedding episode.

“I’ve made some suggestions, »

Brothers & Sisters Review: "The Wig Party"

9 November 2009 5:14 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Last night's Brothers & Sisters featured 3-4 different story lines that loosely intertwined, and which were all entertaining, save for Rebecca's, which felt cliched and predictable.

Click here for a full recap of "The Wig Party." Below, we offer a brief analysis of why each of the Walker family stories from November 8 worked for us, or in one case, did not.

Kitty, Robert & Nora

The star of this episode, if you had to single one out of this consistently diverse and talented cast, would obviously be Calista Flockhart, whose own idea it was for Kitty to swear off chemo and explore alternative treatments for her non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Sarah and Nora are stressed about this decision and throw themselves into getting her to reconsider, but all Kitty wants is to get dolled up for Nora's Open Doors benefit.

There, Kitty's hair starts to fall out and she starts to fall apart emotionally. »

Brothers and Sisters: Preview of Episode 4.07 "The Wig Party"

7 November 2009 9:00 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

If the title isn't much of a clue, then here's the preview for tonight's Brothers and Sisters episode.  "The Wig Party" brings the Walkers together once again, but it won't be all fun and games for the family.  More drama's heading our way as usual.  In addition to a smidge of romance, of course.

"The Wig Party" has Nora (Sally Field) meet a new man in her life.  She's taking quite a risk with this guy, since he's an oncologist in the hospital where Kitty (Calista Flockhart) is being treated for cancer.

'Ally McBeal' reunion on 'Gma': Part 2 talks feminism and Robert Downey Jr.

Things got slightly juicier during the second day of Good Morning America's Ally McBeal reunion after getting through the basics yesterday. Calista Flockhart addressing the "Is Feminism Dead?" Time magazine cover that put her face next to those of Gloria Steinem and Susan B. Anthony: "I think that the point they were trying to make that there wasn’t really a modern feminist woman to look towards. 'Ally McBeal' reunion: Dancing babies and Gil Bellows' hair

2 November 2009 6:57 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Ah, short skirts, unisex bathrooms, dancing babies, and killing feminism. The cast of Ally McBeal all got together to reminisce about the show that tackled all that (often through song-and-dance numbers) in the first of two group interviews on this morning's Good Morning America to celebrate the long-awaited release of the beloved hit on DVD. Calista Flockhart and company didn't reveal much of any consequence, except that they've all aged rather gently in the past 12 years since the show's debut and that Ally was struggling with balancing career and baby-making urges, blah blah. Brothers and Sisters: Preview of Episode 4.06 "Zen & the Art of Making Mole"

1 November 2009 1:00 AM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

It's a bit tough to make sense of the title of tonight's Brothers and Sisters episode, but one can hardly make sense of Zen anyway.  Maybe we should all just go watch to find out what it's about.  But for now, a preview.

Kitty (Calista Flockhart) continues to deal with her cancer, attending her chemo sessions regularly.  Despite that, she's still down in the disease dumps and needs the support of her family.  Lucky for her, a surprise visitor arrives to save the day.

Get ready for the 'Ally McBeal' reunion

I walked into a ladies' room here at Time Inc. the other day and there was a man changing the paper towels. And immediately, I thought to myself, "Ally McBeal had to put up with this every day." So, the show has definitely had some lasting cultural influence on me. If you are a fan of the show, get ready for the two-part reunion special on Good Morning America on Monday and Tuesday (Nov 2-3) during its 8 a.m. hour. To whet your appetite for all things Ally, here is a clip from the new DVD package Ally McBeal: The Complete Series, »

Jane After Dark preview: Hooked on Ally McBeal

21 October 2009 12:03 PM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

I'm watching season one of Ally McBeal for Jane After Dark this week, and will give a full review this weekend. But I have to say, I'm just a few episodes in, and I'm already hooked. It's a weird blend of The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd and My World and Welcome To It.

And it's very weird seeing Calista Flockhart, whom I mainly know from Brothers & Sisters, and all of her co-stars, whom I know from other current shows, on Ally McBeal. What's even more amazing is all of the musicians featured on this show: Elton John, Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, Al Green, and many more.

Luc the Lover Might Stay Longer on 'Brothers and Sisters'

19 October 2009 11:00 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

It sounds as though romance is going to be a staple on this season of Brothers and Sisters.  There was the engagement of Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) to Justin (Dave Annable), then there's Robert (Rob Lowe) patching things up with Kitty (Calista Flockhart).  Now, with Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) coming home from France, there's another relationship on the rise.

On his TV Guide interview, Gilles Marini, who was a guest-star on the last episode "From France with Love" hinted that his appearances on Brothers and Sisters may be more than expected.  He first appeared as a suitor of Sarah's, but the actor revealed that this could simply "be more than a fling" for the two of them.

Possible spoilers below.

Hayley Williams, Pink Weigh In On Their Favorite TV Shows Via Twitter

14 October 2009 11:07 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

The new TV season is in full effect, and a handful of stars have taken to Twitter to weigh in on some of their favorite shows. Yesterday, Paramore singer Hayley Williams took some time off to watch multiple episodes of Showtime's "Dexter," the black comedy about a serial killer played by Michael C. Hall. "Dexterrrrrrr," she wrote in an on-point tweet. Clearly, she's enthusiastic about the show, and life on the road must be preventing her from keeping up with it. In a response to a friend, Williams tweeted, "I love Dexter. Literally just watched 7 episodes. All day long." Williams has excellent taste, as "Dexter" is one of the best shows on TV.

Williams isn't the only star on Twitter reviewing television. Pink weighed in on one of her favorite shows last night: ABC's "Brothers and Sisters," the drama series that stars Calista Flockhart, Rob Lowe and Sally Field. "I'm »

Contest: Tweet to Win 'Ally McBeal': The Complete Series

13 October 2009 8:28 AM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

I think everyone who is a fan of 90s television knows exactly what show I'm talking about when I say 'dancing baby'. When Ally McBeal introduced the dancing baby it was both creepy and intriguing. To this day I can still see Calista Flockhart in her pajamas dancing along side it. Well, the dancing baby, and the entire cast of Ally McBeal, are back with the release of The Complete Series on DVD. And guess what, BuddyTV is giving away Ally McBeal: The Complete Series to one lucky reader. That's not all either. We also have an additional 5 copies of Season One to give away.

For the first time ever, you can watch the Emmy and Golden Globe winning show that launched Brothers & Sisters star, Calista Flockhart's, career. Not to mention the series starred Arrested Development's Portia de Rossi, Charlie's Angels Lucy Liu and Iron Man's »

Even actors are echoing the eco-friendly sentiments, and it's one trend that we all don't mind conforming to.  The Post Chronicle reports that Brothers and Sisters star Calista Flockhart is hoping to wed fianc?? Harrison Ford soon, and she wants an environmentally-friendly wedding.

The couple has been dating since 2002, got engaged earlier this year, and is already hoping to tie the knot soon.  Flockhart, who plays Kitty Walker on Brothers and Sisters, couldn't be happier about the upcoming eco-nuptials.

Brothers & Sisters Diagnosis: It's Cancer

5 October 2009 10:25 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

On last night's episode of Brothers & Sisters, Scotty admitted to Kevin that he’s afraid Kevin’s career will take priority over a baby.

Also, Ryan is providing a mystery man with Ojai’s financial information; and Justin can’t study when Rebecca does dishes.

But the hour was really all about Kitty, as she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. In the clip below, she and Nora receive the news, as Sally Field's character responds with aggressive questions - and Calista Flockhart reacts like many of us would: with stunned silence.

Brothers & Sisters Diagnosis

What do you think of this storyline? Is it too depressing? Might Robert actually use it to his advantage in his campaign?!?

Read through a few Brothers & Sisters spoilers to see where this angle might be headed, and share your thoughts on it now. »
