Here is a brief international teaser trailer for Steven Soderbergh's upcoming theatrical event "Che," which will be released in two parts early next year.
Entitled "Guerilla" and "The Argentine," the two films focus on Che Guevara's plan to overthrow the Cuban government in the 1950s and his capture and execution by the Bolivian government in 1967.
Playing Che is Benicio Del Toro, who picked up the best actor award for this role at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Franka Potente, Joaquim de Almeida, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Demián Bichir co-star.
Check out the footage after the jump. It doesn't come with any dialogue, but it sure looks great. Catch the first part in theaters this January, with the second following in February.

On November 26, 1956, Fidel Castro sails to Cuba with eighty rebels. One of those rebels is Ernesto Che Guevara, an Argentine doctor who shares a common goal with Fidel Castro - to overthrow the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.
Good friend 'Christopher M' has sent over the first stills we have seen for Che featuring other members of the cast along with Benicio Del Toro as Ernesto Che Guevara. If you have yet to see the posters, you can check them out here.

I skipped Day 2 for the simple reason that both the Robert Pattinson's articles are still getting lots of attention from Twilight fans. Now another hot topic has arrived, featuring (once again, drum roll please!) Robert Pattinson! Is his performance Oscar worthy? Meyer says Aye! , some Oscar bloggers and readers say Nay! . This has been going on for years. Movie bloggers and their regular audiences are going crazy over at Oscar Watch - any news about movies, actors, filmmakers, musicians and especially those who decide on when a movie is to be shown (a.k.a. The Big Studios) is analyzed, discussed and debated with an added bonus - they even have statistics to show which films are currently in the running for Best Picture. - - - - - - A word of caution for Twilight fans: Unless you're absolutely sure you can control yourself and can respond 'reasonably

Benicio Del Toro as Cuban rebel Ernesto "Che" Guevara in Che
Photo: IFC Films I have just added 28 new images to the gallery for Che and while the film is coming out in two parts on December 12 I am keeping it as one in the database just for sanity sake. Buzz on the film is certainly mixed, but mixed in the sense that some people seem to come out loving and others seem to want to not like it, but can't. I haven't seen the film yet, but it seems to me a movie that is over four hours and broken up into two films as a result is always going to have problems, especially in a day an age where people do not like to wait for their end results, no matter who they are or how much they love films. A four hour film opens itself up to

A rather powerful and poignant poster for Steven Soderbergh's Che has just popped up over on Empire. Apparently this is England's official teaser poster for the film, making it one of the first English-language posters we've seen since the film started playing in various North American film festivals. As we probably all know by now, Che is about Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the Argentinian revolutionary and Marxist icon, and is becoming more and more controversial by the day. However, with this poster, it's not necessarily the image that will rile people up - it's the message on it. Everyone knows the icon. Few know the man. Whatever you may think about the actual Che Guevara, this film (or these films, I should say) are phenomenal filmmaking achievements from both Steven Soderbergh and Benicio Del Toro alike. I hope everyone can come to respect these films as cinematic art in the

“Captain America” is scheduled for release May 6, 2011. No writers are on board yet, but Marvel is trying to find someone as quickly as possible.

Empire have a look at some teaser artwork for Che, Soderbergh's two part epic about the legendary revolutionary. Like usual you can check it out by scrolling down the page. Benicio Del Toro stars in the movie that charts the epic transformation of a simple doctor to one of the most iconic political figures of the modern age. So epic is the story in fact, that I can't think of anything juvenile to say about it. Boring!

It’s amazing how different America and indeed the world have become since the last Mid Week Movie News Wrap Up. No I’m no talking about the Us Presidential election - I’m talking about some of the nasty comments aimed at me following my Quantum of Solace review.
This week:
There’s movement on another Smokin’ Aces; Antonio Banderas is Dali; Jack Black Travels while Soderbergh goes Gilda and Gangster.
1. Joe Carnahan has stated on his official blog that a prequel to his action packed, star-filled film Smokin’ Aces is in the offing.
Old Smokin’ Joe said:
“Finally, some actual ‘Smokin Aces’ news. Universal has officially greenlit the
prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me.”
Does this mean Ben Affleck, Alicia Keys or Ryan Reynolds? Who knows, but the sequel will be going Direct to DVD so don’t expect a whole lot of top tier talent.

There's a new trailer out for Steven Soderbergh's upcoming Ernesto Guevarra two-part biopic, collectively know as Che, that you can of course check out if you click through. Benicio Del Toro portrays the iconic revolutionary from his time as a young doctor all the way to his work in Cuba and Argentina. Word on the street is these two go together like spinal cords and car seats. The first one, Guerilla, hits January 9th of next year and the second one, The Argentine, hits.later. (Please excuse the non-sensical "30 Rock" reference.)

Optimum Releasing have brought forward an international teaser trailer of Steven Soderbergh's four-hour biopic, "Che". Exclusively previewed by The Telegraph, the video footage compiles both parts of the biopic, "The Argentine" and "Guerrilla", into one and chronicles the journey Ernesto 'Che' Guevara steps into to be one of the iconic people in the history of the world.
Providing a different take from the previous footage released, this teaser is kicked off in the year 1956 when an ordinary Argentine doctor travels to Cuba with one mission in mind, to start a revolutionary. Joining the other eighty rebels to overthrow the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, he soon rises to become one of the prominent guerrilla leaders, who is embraced by his comrades and the Cuban people.

In a piece of truly bizarre news out of Variety, director Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's Eleven, Out of Sight) is apparently set to direct a "3-D live-action rock 'n' roll musical" about Egyptian Goddess Cleopatra. And he wants Catherine Zeta-Jones to don the golden tiara.
Jones hasn't signed on for the out there idea just yet, nor have other rumored players Hugh Jackman or Marc Anthony. Considering Soderbergh's strong reputation, however, most actors are more than happy to lay their trust in the auteur.
The idea is admittedly strange, but if anyone has a penchant for delivering the unexpected, it's Soderbergh, who has effortlessly bounced between blockbuster efforts like the Ocean series and indies such as The Limey and Full Frontal with few missteps.
Music for the rock opera will be provided by indie rockers Guided by Light while James Greer (Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Just My Luck) will pen the script.

Guy Ritchie was all smiles in London on Thursday night as he made his first public outing since news of his divorce from Madonna was confirmed last week (ends17Oct08).
The director stepped out with pals Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law after a day of shooting in the British capital on their new movie Sherlock Holmes.
And Ritchie appeared to be enjoying his newfound freedom as they attended a private viewing of an exhibition by artist Sam Taylor-Wood at the White Cube Gallery.
And the stars weren't the only celebrities at the event - actors Daniel Craig, Hugh Grant and Benicio del Toro were also in attendance.

Variety reports that director Ridley Scott will helm The Forever War, based on Joe Haldeman's 1974 novel of the same name. The film will be Scott's first foray into science fiction since Alien and Blade Runner.
Scott admits that he intended to film The Forever War nearly, well, forever ago.
"I first pursued Forever War 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since," said Scott.
"It's a science-fiction epic," he continued, "a bit of The Odyssey by way of Blade Runner, built upon a brilliant, disorienting premise."
The novel's plot centers on "a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space for only a few months, only to return home to a planet he doesn't recognize some 20 years later." Forever Free and Forever Peace were two other novels set in the the same reality in addition to the novella A Separate War. The novel has also

On the heels of last week’s posting of the Spanish trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Che: El Argentino - the first part of his two part bio-pic on the life of revolutionary icon Che Guevara - a brand new international trailer has arrived for the film. Not only is this one helpful because it includes bits of the English dialogue - the Spanish version plays out, surprisingly enough, only in Spanish - but comparing the two trailers also makes for an interesting object lesson in marketing. For the Spanish market the film is simply presented as the film. For the international market, however? Hey, look! It’s Sean Penn presented Benicio Del Toro with the best actor award in Cannes! Ah, well ... such as life and if it helps get people out to the theater then why not ...
The Spanish trailer still seems to be available only at
