Too many stars to fit in one frame: Anthony Mackie, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Aniston, David Cross, Liev Schrieber, Naomi Watts, Jeremy Sisto, Emmy Rossum, Julia Stiles, and Gaby Hoffmann are among the cast members taking a curtain call after performing in the 24 Hour Plays. Kevin Mazur/Getty Images. It has been an unusually starry fall on Broadway—Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in A Steady Rain, Jude Law in Hamlet, and, later this month, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury in A Little Night Music, just to name a few. But rarely has there been such assemblage of big names on one Broadway stage as there was last night at the American Airlines Theater. Among the performers were Jennifer Aniston, David Cross, Billy Crudup, Rosario Dawson, John Krasinski, Ashton Kutcher, Eva Mendes, Demi Moore, Rosie Perez, Sam Rockwell, Liev Schrieber, Brooke Shields, Julia Stiles, Amber Tamblyn, and Naomi Watts. Jason Reitman, Judah Friedlander. From PatrickMcMullan. On Thursday night Travel & Leisure hosted a viewing of Jason Reitman’s new George Clooney–helmed vehicle Up in the Air, believing that the upcoming Oscar contender captured the woes and blessings of travel that the magazine’s readers know so well. Reitman took the stage before the screening, singling out friends in the audience (Juno actress Olivia Thirlby gave a shy wave in response to his boisterous shoutout, while Billy Crudup seemed delighted to remain under the radar) before introducing his two inspirations: father and co-producer Ivan, as well as Walter Kirn, whose novel provided the movie’s basis. After the film, the crowd convened for supper at Rouge Tomate, though the thought-provoking story remained on the minds of many. Kirn was thrilled with the way that Reitman updated the novel that he had written pre-9/11: “I think the book has been »

What follows is my original top ten list of 2000... or rather the revised version I published in 2002. Let's discuss each year of this decade as it winds down! Who's with me?!? It's always interesting to see which films remained at the forefront of our memory and which fade... both for a variety of reasons, quality being only one factor. New comments are in red.
Please note: This list was based on NYC release dates in the year 2000. Some movies are listed as different years at the IMDb based on when they were released in their home country or in La or whatnot.
Runners Up (in descending order): Une Liaisons Pornographique, Nurse Betty, You Can Count On Me, Before Night Falls, Pola X, Chicken Run, American Psycho, Wonder Boys and Billy Elliott Um... What The Hell are some of these movies doing outside the top ten list? You Can Count on Me »

What's happened to all the great movie nudity lately? Billy Crudup started the year off with a bang, so to speak, with his big blue penis in Watchmen, and Marcus Nispel's Friday the 13th reboot featured sweaty sex and generous amounts of naked female flesh, but the summer and fall seasons have been curiosly bereft of talked-about sex scenes or body parts. Jessica Biel's bravely-bared breasts and backside in Powder Blue went direct to video, Hayden Panetierre nonchalantly limited her exposure to 'side boobage' in I Love You, Beth Cooper, and Megan Fox decided to keep her nipples to herself in the proudly feminist relationship drama ('cause it sure wasn't horror) Jennifer's Body.
In my youth, movies educated me about the wonderful diversity of naked bodies. Today, television and the Internet have stolen much of the thunder once claimed exclusively by the theatrical experience. (Case in point: Susan Sarandon's daughter, »

Okay. Ladies and Gentlemen of the media, please! Enough with this David Letterman hoopla already! You know something? I Don't Care! I don't. In fact, I don't even want to know about Dave's indiscretions, just like I didn't want to know about John Edwards' (I still can't believe that dude thought he could be president), or Bill Clinton's, or about that time when Billy Crudup left pregnant Mary Louise Parker for Claire Danes. And I really, really don't want to hear another word about this Jon Gosselin character or if he's back together with the nanny after his fling with the reporter from Ok!, okay? I realize that public figures in the public eye must open their lives to public scrutiny. Tabloid magazines need to sell, and I certainly respect that (hey, I spent a summer... »

Contrary to reports in a certain section of the media, Sharmila Tagore was definitely in her husband Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's ancestral town Pataudi, in Haryana, last weekend when Julia Roberts was shooting in the same town.Sharmila had said on-record in a taped interview to Subhash K. Jha: 'Tiger and I are here. He dragged us out here in this heat, much to our annoyance. Saif and my two daughters Sabah and Soha are also here for a Mewati Akikah ceremony, which is a traditional Muslim mundan.'However, Sharmila and her family had no intention of meeting Julia Roberts. The clarification by the author follows an agency report quoting Sharmila as being 'furious' over media reports that her family, including Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, spent last weekend at their ancestral palace in Haryana, where Julia Roberts too is staying. She told the agency: 'Nobody from our family went to the Pautadi Palace. »

Celebrities are known for pushing the envelope when it comes to naming their babies — to say the least! Nameberry.com co-founder Linda Rosenkrantz notes that recently some celebrities have been blazing a different trail, however. “One of the latest trends among celebrity parents is the trend away from trendiness,” she notes. “Even though we still see some extreme choices like Bandit and Bronx, more and more celebs seem to be opting for classic, traditional, ‘normal’ names.”
Although it’s possibly a backlash against all the negative publicity provoked by their “kooky” celebrity baby name counterparts, Linda suspects that “a bigger »

The 2007 movie Evening received bad reviews and was seen by about eight people, but it appears that one good thing came from the production. AP reports that beautiful actress Claire Danes has married her co-star from that film, equally beautiful actor Hugh Dancy. Combined, the pair are so pretty that if you look directly at them, you'll permanently scar your corneas.
For those of you who enjoy a whiff of scandal with your celebrity news, the Claire/Dancy (should we call them "Clancy?") romance began amid rumors that Danes entered the liaison while still involved with boyfriend Billy Crudup. This was only interesting because when Danes and Crudup began dating, there were rumors that she'd broken up Crudup's relationship with a then-pregnant Mary-Louise Parker. Whether any of this is true is anyone's guess, but when exceptionally lovely people break up and then start sleeping with other lovely people, the tabloids start sharpening their sticks. »

While shooting her upcoming film 'Eat, Pray, Love' in India, American actress Julia Roberts is staying in the lap of luxury—at Pataudi Palace, the ancestral home of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Only royal digs will do for Roberts and her three children, four-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and two-year-old son Henry, who will be in country until October 9th. Khan, the son of a nawab (an Indian prince), is the heir apparent to the house of Pataudi (a princely state near Delhi), and Pataudi Palace, like many former royal homes in India, is now a ritzy hotel.
Khan and his girlfriend, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, are reportedly keen to fete Roberts during her stay, and word is that Indian stars are making the trek from Mumbai to join the festivities. Khan's mother, Sharmila Tagore, a former actress and head of India’s government film censorship board, has already met Roberts. »

Jose here with a confession: few things nowadays get me as happy as the idea of a new Julia Roberts movie (yes, I'm slightly easy to please sometimes). So you can imagine the excitement this month has provided for me! First was the cute, and star studded, trailer for Valentine's Day (what do you mean you haven't seen it? Do so now!).
And today the web is bursting with Julia in saris, flower necklaces and bodyguards as she begins shooting Eat, Pray, Love in the town of Mirzapur in northern India. The movie, directed by Ryan Murphy, is based on the eponymous novel by Elizabeth Gilbert and tells the story of a divorced woman who travels across the world to regain her inner peace.
But back to Julia, The Indian Times reports Wearing a purple kurta, black salwar and rudraksha beads, she completed her first day's shoot for a Hollywood »

Big Fish (2003) It doesn't make sense, and most of it didn't happen. Synopsis Will Bloom struggles to reconnect with his father Edward as Ed's entire life is retold in epic, tall tale-style. Why We Love It First and foremost, I should admit that most of the reason I love Big Fish is that I've seen it 15 times and cried every single time. Its light and airy, creative with a great sense of humor, and yet the true story of a lost connection between a father and son is important enough to get those waterworks going every time. The main reason this movie is so great is the story itself. It's a return to a storytelling that we'd forgotten about. The recreation of fairy tales that are brand new but seem familiar. Every segment of Edward Bloom's life is mostly believable and just partially fantastical. Instead of delving deep into a false world, Tim Burton »

Courtesy Observer Playground As a pot-dealing mom on Weeds, Mary-Louise Parker’s character is faced with a variety of ethical dilemmas. But luckily for Mary-Louise’s children, off-screen, the mom of two knows right from wrong.
“My character’s the worst parent, but I guess she’s doing the best she can with what she has,” Mary-Louise tells new magazine Observer Playground.
“It’s not an example to follow, I can say that much.”
Single mom to William Atticus, 5 ½, with ex Billy Crudup and Caroline ‘Ash’ Aberash, 3, adopted in 2007, Mary-Louise knows her priorities rest with family first, before work and even dating.
“Even though I would love to have dinner with this person or this person, it’s not as important to me as putting my kids to bed,” she says.
Though linked with actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan earlier this year, the actress is now single, and focused on her children first. »
