She's been getting ready for the first season of Cougar Town, but her return to the small screen won't stop her from making movies. David Arquette recently confirmed that both he and Courteney are signed on for a fourth Scream movie. Most of you aren't loving the idea of another sequel, but a little star power from the real life couple should make for an interesting follow-up film. View 5 Photos ›

Deputy Dewey Returns for a 4th ‘Scream’

15 July 2009 1:49 PM, PDT | From FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news

When he's not standing in a plastic bubble supporting those in need of food across the world, David Arquette is confirming that there will be a Scream 4, and that he and his wife Courteney Cox will be reprising their roles from the 90's slasher flicks. According to E!, Arquette confirmed that Kevin Williamson is writing the fourth installment, but that Wes Craven has not signed on yet and Neve Campbell, who played the main protagonist in the first three films has rejected the chance to portray Sydney Prescott yet again. But Deputy Dipshit and Gale are back on board, that's for sure. According to Arquette, "I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it's just going to be really fun." Cox did not comment on her husband calling her a bitch. I

David Arquette Confirms Role in Scream 4 with Courtney Cox

15 July 2009 8:44 AM, PDT | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

In an interview with Marc Malkin of E! Online, David Arquette confirmed that he and his wife Courtney Cox have signed on for a fourth installment of the Scream franchise.

We are going to be doing Scream 4. Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct ... Kevin has sort of put out the broad strokes, but I don't think I'm at liberty to share any of that.

The franchise began in 1996 with Scream. Neve Campbell starred as Sidney, a suburban teenager hunted by a serial killer who takes cues from horror movies. Arquette played Dewey, a hapless local cop who falls in love with Cox's character, the opportunistic reporter Gale Weathers.

Two sequels followed over the next four years. Craven directed all three installments, while Williamson wrote the scripts for Scream and Scream 2 before deciding not to return for the third movie.

Look! Another movie for us!

Last month we reported that David Arquette and his lovely wife, dancin’ Courteney Cox Arquette, were in talks to return to the Scream series.

Now it’s confirmed.

“We are going to be doing Scream 4,” Arquette told E! Online. “Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.”

Planned as a new trilogy, the next Scream series will focus on younger stars with no sign of Neve Campbell reprising her Sidney Prescott role. She has reportedly declined the role because she’s obviously busy with other projects.

Projects like NBC’s The Philanthropist.

Cox has also taken an interest in television and can be seen this fall on ABC’s Cougar Town.

Arquettes Make 'Scream 4' a Family Affair

15 July 2009 2:26 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

The news has slowly been coming in about a fourth Scream movie, and because it's not all the same source, that's probably a good sign for the film. Or at least, it's a good sign that the film will be moving forward. Wes Craven said Kevin Williamson was writing it, then Williamson said Neve Campbell turned down the chance to return as Sidney Bristow, and now David Arquette says he and the missus are gung ho.

"We are going to be doing Scream 4," Arquette told The Fifth Letter of the Alphabet, referring, of course, to himself and Courteney Cox. "Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct."

Craven has said he'd produce it, but the directing duties are still up in the air, though I'd be surprised if Craven let the chance pass him by if it's just sitting there waiting for him.

"We are going to be doing Scream 4," Arquette tells the site. "Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct." We had reported, and been told by Craven, that if the money/script was right, he'd return to helm the mega franchise that took the 90's by storm. We're told that the film will be a younger version of the Scream films, although Neve Campbell threw a kink in the wheel by refusing to return as Sidney Prescott.
