If I wasn't going to be in Denver until the following morning, there's no way I'd miss the Museum of the Moving Image's event on Saturday night at the Times Center in Manhattan, wherein Jerry Lewis will be interviewed on stage by his long-time friend, Peter Bogdanovich. The event will include clips from Lewis' films, which Chris Fujiwara considered in a piece posted on the Museum's Moving Image Source yesterday. On Thursday, MoMA will begin their screening series ...

'This event is a cine phile's dream come true," gushes David Schwartz, dapper chief curator of the Museum of the Moving Image.
He's talking about a museum-sponsored appearance Saturday at 7 p.m. by Jerry Lewis, who will chat with director-author Peter Bogdanovich ("The Last Picture Show") on the stage of the Times Center in Midtown. (The museum, in Queens, is undergoing renovations.)
"Lewis wrote a book about his art called 'The Total Filmmaker,' " Schwartz adds, "and as a director, actor, producer and writer,

A crowd-pleaser for the Aarp set, Robert Davi's writing and directing debut The Dukes casts an affectionate eye on a little-explored milieu that's simultaneously mundane and rife with faded glamour. Davi and Chazz Palminteri play members of the eponymous doo-wop group, retro mirth-makers whose glory days have faded into distant memory. The two now toil in a restaurant for their brassy Italian stereotype of an aunt (Miriam Margolyes) and pine for better days and a solution to their seemingly permanent cash-flow crises. The harmonizers turn small-time crooks when they decide to steal a shipment of gold from dentists, with some help from good buddies Elya Baskin, a laid-off airline mechanic; corpulent stand-up comedian Frank D'Amico; and safecracker Bruce Weitz. An underutilized Peter Bogdanovich co-stars as the group's sad-eyed manager, a Willy Loman type who struggles even to land the group degrading gigs in ridiculous costumes. Considering the film's...

Their manager (Peter Bogdanovich) is trying to get them work but things aren't working out, leading them to attempt to pull of a heist. The film screened at last year's Rome International Film Festival and has since won the Coup de Coeur at the Alpe d'Huez International Comedy Film Festival. Cavu Pictures is opening the film in New York on November 14th, and then nationwide on November 21st. indieWIRE spoke to Davi about the film and its upcoming release.

Cavu Pictures , Sun Lion Films and Doo Wop Productions’ “The Dukes” sings a fine tune. Robert Davi makes his directorial debut on “The Dukes,” a comedic indie which one just can’t help loving. Davi, loved for his roles on many a film and TV offering including “The Goonies,” “Predator 2” and “Stargate Atlantis,” writes this work alongside James Andronica (“The November Men”). The story is easy to follow, focusing on a former doo wop band known as “The Dukes” consisting of George Zucco (Chazz Palminteri ) and Danny Pasquale (Robert Davi). They may have had the crowds roaring at The Brooklyn Paramount as the number one group in America but now in their ripe age, are shadows of their former selves. Their agent Lou (Peter Bogdanovich) tries to secure them any type of gig for them in order to keep them paying the bills. This includes commercials alongside their long-time

Check out the trailer for "The Dukes" which marks the directorial debut of Robert Davi. Davi also stars alongside Chazz Palminteri, Peter Bogdanovich and Miriam Margoyles. That's not all, the actor also writes the script alongside James Andronica. The remaining cast includes Elya Baskin, Melora Hardin, Frank D'Amico, Bruce Weitz, Eloise DeJoria and Dominic Scott Kay. Davi is known for a variety of roles most memorable for us would be his performance in the 1980s family adventure "The Goonies." The veteran actor has over 100 credits to his name and surely has a strong following.

Putting together a comprehensive documentary about the life and far reaching effects of Roger Corman's loooong career would be a lot tougher than it sounds but that's exactly what Alexandra Stapleton's upcoming King of the B's: The Independent Life of Roger Corman will try to accomplish. From 1950s youth counterculture, to Aip's Poe films, to the exploitation genre work of the 60s 70s and 80s, King of the B's will attempt to cover the writer/director/producer and sometimes actor's life all the way from the beginning of his career to his present efforts as a still independent producer. Says writer/associate producer Gregory Locklear about the project:
“The documentary will focus on Roger’s contributions to genre cinema, with horror/comedies like A Bucket Of Blood and The Little Shop Of Horrors, sci-fi/action flicks like Death Race 2000, straight horrors such as Piranha and sexploitation phenoms like Caged Heat.

Angelica Huston can't wait to see the finished cut of Orson Welles' The Other Side Of The Wind - because it features one of her late father's career highlights.
The long-awaited release of the 1975 film, starring John Huston and Jeanne Moreau, has been held up for more than two decades by financial issues.
Peter Bogdanovich, who also appeared in the movie, shot a revised final scene years after Welles' death, but only a select few have seen the finished film - and The Witches star Huston isn't one of them.
She tells WENN, "What happened was at one point Iranian money came into the mix and Bogdanovich was going to shoot the last scene and I don't know what happened to the last scene. I know my brother Danny has seen it. I haven't seen it.
"Peter has offered to show it to me but it's never come about. I understand they're always just a whisper away from releasing it in some form. I don't know what's happening with it right now. I think it has a debt against of it of some five to seven million dollars or something like that."
The actress admits she's keen to see the film because her father had such fun working with Welles on it: "I remember my dad saying that Orson had done something that had never been done before; he was shooting Jeanne Moreau in Paris with her side of the conversation and then my father in Los Angeles with his side of the conversation and putting all of it together like a giant puzzle.
"I'd be fascinated to see it now."

Bruce Springsteen is an American legend. He’s sort of like the musical equivalent of John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, a strong presence who delivers a quintessential view of the United States.
Now the rock icon is attached to two very different films, offering his services as not only a singer/songwriter but possibly also as an actor. “The Boss” has written and recorded a song for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler while Judd Apatow has offered him a role in his forthcoming film Funny People.
So where did this cinematic love of Springsteen come from?
Simple answer - it has always been there.
Springsteen has always been a huge cinephile, and many of his songs and albums have been inspired by movies. His 1995 album The Ghost of Tom Joad was inspired not only by John Steinbeck’s novel The Grapes of Wrath, but also by John Ford’s film of the same name.

Chris posted this a couple of weeks ago but, since the Bog Saget Comedy Central roast thing finally aired last night and the whole internet is going batshit crazy for Cloris Leachman, I thought I'd post this video again. Also, I just kind of get a kick out of imagining what Peter Bogdanovich thinks of all this. Are you looking forward to the new X-Files film? Are you an old fan of the series who hasn’t seen the iconic show since it was first aired? How about a first-timer who thinks that the trailer for the movie - The X-Files: I Want To Believe looks interesting? What about an obsessive fan that can’t get enough of Mulder and Scully?
If you are any of the above, then The X-Files - Essentials/ Revelations is for you.
First up, let me help you out over the confusing title. In the UK (where I am now writing this) the two disc over view of The X-Files is called The X-Files - Essentials, while in the Us (where some of you are reading this) the disc is titled The X-Files - Revelations.
Confusing?
Yes, but the disc is also worth your time and hard earned cash.

This week sees the opening of "The Dark Knight." Advance marketing and coverage might have you believe that that, apparently, is all, but there are other films coming out this week well worth your time. (Besides, "The Dark Knight" is totally going to be sold out.)
With Britain in the midst of a youth crime epidemic, Irish investigative reporter Donald McIntyre takes an unflinching look at Dominic Noonan, a granddad of the English gangland who's spent over half his life behind bars. Having legally changed his name to Lattlay Fottfoy (an acronym of the Noonan motto . "Look After Those That Look After You; Fuck Off Those That Fuck Off You"), the openly gay head of Manchester's most notorious crime family shows off his gentler side as a man who uses his reputation to position himself as a "problem solver" more concerned with the

A Sopranos movie will never happen - because creator David Chase can't decide how to take the mob drama to the big screen.
Rumours of a film have circulated since the last episode of the Emmy-winning series aired last year, and a number of castmembers have voiced their support for a cinema adaptation.
But film maker Peter Bogdanovich, who has appeared in and directed several episodes of the show, claims Chase told him privately it will never happen.
Bogdanovich says, "I spoke to David Chase about it a month ago, and he said no.
"He said he thought about it, and he can't figure a way to do it.
"So I don't think it will ever happen. I don't think you can ever say never, but my hunch is it won't happen."

"He said he thought about it, and he can't figure out a way to do it," Bogdanovich said.
"So I don't think it will ever happen. I don't think you can ever say never, but my hunch is it won't happen."

Our friend Kevin Kelly was at that Mark Cuban panel at the TCA featured in the vague WIRED post mentioned earlier, and he sent along some further context––and quotes! Apparently, the panel's essential purpose was to promote Humboldt County, a SXSW vet and now a Magnolia release which will debut on VOD three weeks before hitting theaters in September. Also on the panel was Humboldt co-star Peter Bogdanovich, and talk about an odd pairing. On the one hand, you've got mogul Cuban making his cocky techno-evangelist pitch about how business travelers held captive in hotels are dying to charge their corporate cards $12 for the chance to see films like Flawless and Fin ...
