Kate Beckinsale was mortified after she was branded the Sexiest Woman Alive - and she hates admitting she's the owner of the title.
The Underworld star was handed the honour by Esquire magazine earlier this year, knocking beautiful Halle Berry off the number one spot.
But the bashful Brit insists she has struggled to cope with the alluring name - and finds it hard when people quiz her over her new sexy status.
She says, "It's such a nice thing to happen and then immediately it's mortifying.
"Somebody came up to me in the street and went 'are you the sexiest woman alive?' And I went 'yes,' and then I thought, 'Errrggh I can't say yes to that!'
"I should be shot on sight for that, it's awful!" »

Ever since the original V TV miniseries hit the airwaves in 1983 (you can trust me, I was there ;-P), the letter v has been working it’s way up the ladder in popularity. After all, before that, all v really had to its name was V-Day and a crappy holiday where you try to see how many cavities you can give the object of your affection in one day.
It’s had some pretty stiff competition, though. A-f have always seemed to be pretty popular in the school grading system, while N and Y have made their fame through surveys. The most notorious letter of all, though, has to be X. After all, everything is cooler with an X!
As mentioned before, the letter v seems to be gaining more and more popularity. It helped spawn two V miniseries in the early 80s, followed by a TV show in the »

Steve Martin approached his stints as Oscar host in 2001 and 2003 like a guy who had taken a religious vow not to pander or suck up to his audience, both the star-studded one inside the Kodak Theater and the millions tuning in globally. During his 2001 monologue, his joke about how Ellen Burstyn gained 20 pounds and aged up for her role in Requiem for a Dream and "Russell Crowe still hit on her" was so deadpan and dead-on, the camera caught a reaction shot of Winona Ryder covering her mouth and gasping in horror (see video after the jump). Sorry, Maddona! No more free bags for you! Gabriel Aubry has just beat out Jesus Luz to become the new face of Louis Vuitton. According to the New York Post, Halle Berry's baby daddy Aubry just shot the sexy pics for the spring campaign in Ibiza. Sources say Madonna, who currently has a contract with the handbag company now, was trying to encourage the Louis bosses to hire her boytoy. We think Lv made a wise choice. Jesus is hot and all, but he’s only 22! He probably only learned who Louis Vuitton was after Madonna plucked him... »

Halle Berry spent her weekend in NYC with Gabriel and Nahla. She had to take care of some solo business on Friday, leaving Gabriel and Nahla to shop by themselves in Soho. The weather hasn't turned too cold just yet, but little Nahla looked ready for chillier temperatures in her hat and oversized coat. We usually see the trio doing their thing while out and about in La, but the Aubry-Berrys look just as at home together on the East Coast. Bond star Daniel Craig recently revealed that filming on the next James Bond movie will start at the end of 2010.
In the meantime, director Marc Forster has been spilling the beans on Craig's previous 007 adventure, Quantum of Solace.
Forster who has already said he doesn't want to do the next Bond flick, had his breakthrough with Monster's Ball, for which Halle Berry won a best actress Oscar.
His next film, Finding Neverland, was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy Awards.
The filmmaker, who had left Switzerland for the USA at the age of 20 to pursue his dream, continued his directorial success with films including Stranger than Fiction, The Kite Runner, and then last year's Quantum of Solace.
In an interview with MakingOf, Forster explains that the Bond flick was, for him, "a very different experience."
He had a budget five times the amount he normally worked with plus, »

In this morning’s roundup of Oscar news ‘n’ notes from around the web, it’s not a good day for honorary Oscar winners: one cancels a show, while another gets branded an untalented pothead.
Patrick Goldstein looks at the New York Times’ Magazine’s extensive profile of “Precious” director Lee Daniels and wonders if the guy is so outspoken that he’ll alienate Oscar voters. He certainly could have lost a few votes by telling Hirschberg that he “kind of co-directed” “Monster’s Ball” and gave Halle Berry t... »

We shall begin with Amelia, a film I wrote about on Monday as it became the talk of the town with hardly a review in sight and a mere five days until its release. Well, that's all changed as I saw the film early Tuesday morning and it seems most everyone in Los Angeles and New York saw it for the first time as well. While I won't be joining David Poland on the train to completely disembowel Mira Nair's film of the famed aviatrix (and it seems Kris Tapley will also be doing the same), I will admit it's not a very good movie and would agree with Justin Chang's take at Variety when he says the film "offers snazzy aerial photography and inspirational platitudes in lieu of insight into Amelia Earhart's storied life and high-flying career."

Halle Berry went sexy in her cutout dress last night for Keep A Child Alive's 6th Annual Black Ball in NYC.
