Mila Kunis talks "Black Swan" with "BlackBook"

2 December 2009 9:00 AM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Mila Kunis is over all of our salivating about her upcoming big lesbian sex scene with Natalie Portman. Wait, already? We haven’t even had a chance to see it yet. But the star of the upcoming ballerina drama Black Swan told BlackBook all the hoopla is “silly.”

When asked if she at least understood why people might be interested in their private pas de deux, the former That ’70s Show star, she rolled her eyes and said:

Sure, it’s two girls making out, and guys have a thing for that. And Nat is like every guy’s dream. She’s a nerd’s idea of heaven. The whole thing is silly, but I can see why people care.

Um, not just guys have a thing for two girls making out. And girl nerds like Natalie, too.

Ok, the laugh-a-minute Seinfeld reunion on Curb Your Enthusiasm, this probably won't be. But The Ausiello Files has learned that The Shield executive producer Shawn Ryan has rounded up half a dozen members of his old show's cast to guest star on his new show, Lie to Me. Yes, Jennifer Beals, there is a Santa Claus

19 November 2009 1:00 PM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Have yourself a merry little Bealsmas. Make the Yuletide gay — or at the very least gayish. Jennifer Beals is getting her holiday on in a new Hallmark movie The Night Before the Night Before Christmas. Bette Porter going merry and bright for the Hallmark Movie Channel? I’m going to need a minute to readjust my understanding of the world.

Jennifer, who has a recurring role on the Fox drama Lie to Me, will appear in the holiday comedy about “a family that's too busy to get ready for the holidays until Santa Claus mistakenly leaves the North Pole a day early and crash lands on their roof, and it's suddenly up to the family to help save Christmas.” Oh, oh my. I can honestly say I have never looked at Jennifer and thought, look at Santa’s little helper — ever.

Now we all know Jennifer can be funny, what »

Free Flick of the Day: The Last Days of Disco

11 November 2009 4:35 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Whit Stillman hasn't made a lot of films. In fact, there are only three: Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco. All filmed in the '90s, his trio of movies morphed from upper-class teen Manhattanites, to heading out into the international working world, and finally to a look into the end of disco. Unfortunately, the last was sadly overlooked because another big disco fest hit the big screen -- 54 -- which may have been terrible, but with the likes of Mike Myers and a big-name cast, it was the flick in the spotlight.

Nestled in the shadows was The Last Days of Disco, starring Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale as two young book editors who fill their nights with dance and banter while looking for romance. Each night, as they head to the club, they come across a myriad of faces, from the Stillman pro Chris Eigeman, to the likes of Mackenzie Astin, »

Melissa George joins "Lie to Me"

10 November 2009 8:00 AM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

I was hoping Melissa George would find more work after getting the boot from Grey's Anatomy, but I guess I was looking for something a little more than this. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Melissa will join the cast of Lie to Me as "an Anna Nicole Smith-type."

Melissa will play Clara Martin, "the sassy wife of an older billionaire who has been murdered" who takes control of his empire. As Michael Ausiello notes, "she's kinda nuts."

If anything, this will probably be a fun part to play, but I'd also love to see Melissa do something a little more bad ass. However, we can hold out hope she'll share a scene with Lie to Me's Zoe Landau, aka Jennifer Beals. But with Clara not showing up till the 11th episode of the second season's 13, she might not have that much screen time.

Party Favors: Dan Aykroyd Is On A Mission From Vodka

31 October 2009 11:06 PM, PDT | Quick Stop | See recent Quick Stop news »

Joliet, Il - Dan Aykroyd is on a mission from vodka. The Blues Brother is cruising around the country in a Damnation Alley Rv promoting his Crystal Skull premium vodka. He rolled into my town and I was compelled to see the man.

He was appearing at a liquor store on a Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. What sort of crowd could he draw? I showed up at 1 p.m. with my four month old designated driver. There was already 400 people in line. Another 300 people end up behind us. Luckily Dan’s traveling partner announced that even though Dan was schedule to leave at 4:30, he’d be signing his bottles until the last person went home happy.

Why not? Each bottle cost $50. I’ve been told that there’s only two types of vodka in the world: Good vodka and vodka that makes you go blind and piss blood. »

Jennifer Beals gives us a sneak peek at her "L Word" photography book

21 October 2009 11:00 AM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much is a picture by Jennifer Beals worth? Is thousand words plus a sippy cup? The actress released a preview of her new photography book as one of the extras in The L Word Season 6 DVD set.

The final season set came out yesterday and with it came a behind-the-scenes look at the series through Jennifer’s lens. She calls the images a “photographic journal” taken to help her preserve and remember the time she spend on the show, from rehearsals to dinners and photoshoots. She also saved her scripts, call sheets and other moments, some which will also make their way into the book.

Jennifer wrote in a prologue to the preview, “Mostly, I wanted to remember the joy, because no matter where the storylines went, we always managed to have fun.”
