Recorded "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" in 1949. This is the second highest selling Christmas song after
Bing Crosby's "White Christmas."
He followed up his mega-hit recording of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" in 1949 with two holiday hits in 1950 - "Peter Cottontail" which hit #5 on the charts, and "Frosty the Snowman" which went to #7.
He preceded "Rudolph" with another Christmas hit song, "Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)" in 1947. It rose to #9 on the charts.
Unsold pilot: In 1957 he produced a pilot for CBS for a TV version of his hit radio series "Melody Ranch", which co-starred
Gail Davis. It wasn't picked up.
