20 Ways to Get Your "Arrested Development" Movie Fix*

5 November 2009 7:09 PM, PST | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

*Until they actually make the movie

Forget Scientology or Heaven's Gate. Today, the biggest cult in our country may very well be the teeming masses anxiously awaiting the return of "Arrested Development." After years of rumors and dashed hopes, it seems the beloved TV show will finally, for real, this time, be reincarnated on the big screen.

But don't break out your Cornballers yet: the film isn't set to hit theaters until 2011. How will you last that long? While you can treasure your DVD collection of all three seasons (or, for that matter, catch re-airs on IFC), you'll probably want to vary things up in the year-plus before we get sweet relief. Off the top of your head, you might know to watch Michael Cera in "Juno," but where can you find Judy Greer in a role as crazy as Kitty Sanchez? Will Arnett as a man as bumbling and self-involved as Gob? »

'North' Meets 'Groundhog Day' in New Comedy 'Hello, I Love You'

4 November 2009 10:04 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

And that's what you get when you combine a producer from The Passion of the Christ (Stephen McEveety) with a writer (David McFadzean) from Tim Allen's TV series "Home Improvement": complete and utter chaos. But when you combine a box office and critical disaster like North with the modern comedy classic Groundhog Day, there has to be some semblance of a decent comedy hidden in there right? That's the hope as THR reports that development on Hello, I Love You, a comedy about a teenager who wishes for a new family only to find herself waking up each successive day with a new and strange one, is progressing well. Sunu Gonera (Pride), seen in the photo above, will direct from a script by Kim Beyer-Johnson, and though there's probably some fun to be had with this concept, the same producing team also brought us the equally recycled and »

Peter Segal Replaces Rodriguez on 'The Jetsons'?

2 November 2009 8:15 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

By: John Gholson

This movie should've happened fifteen years ago, and it should've starred Tim Allen. It didn't, so here we are in 2009 talking about whether or not a live-action movie based on Hanna-Barbera's animated "futuristic" sitcom The Jetsons will ever see the light of day.

Pajiba says yes, and they say that Peter Segal (Get Smart, Tommy Boy) is the director currently circling the long-dormant project. Director Robert Rodriguez (Shorts) was once enthusiastic about taking a crack at the material, but Warner Brothers wants to move on the project soon and Rodriguez keeps a full plate. Unlike Pajiba, though, I don't see this potential shift in directors as a huge step down.

After Elizabeth’s birth in March, mom Jane Hadjuk Allen said,

“Not that we didn’t have an incredible life, but there’s more and our love is going to change, and now we have somebody else to love. Like every woman has ever said, you can’t believe how much you love this little infant.”

14 October 2009 10:06 AM, PDT | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Pixar director Lee Unkrich revealed more details on Toy Story 3 on Monday via his Twitter page.  Speaking directly to fans in a video announcement, Unkrich revealed voice casting details and exciting news about the re-release of the first two movies.

First, a few voice casting tidbits.  Comedienne Kristen Schaal (”Flight of the Conchords”) is recording for an unknown character in the movie.  Blake Clarke is taking over for the voice of Slinky Dog after the passing of his friend Jim Varney in 2000.

The rest of the voice cast will be returning including Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Joan Cusack (Jessie), and John Morris (Andy).  Michael Keaton is voicing a Ken doll.

Also, if you haven’t had a chance to see the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 3-D double bill in theaters, you’ll have the opportunity for a bit longer.  The four-hour experience made $22.8 million in 10 days. »

1999: A Year In Review (Part Two)

14 October 2009 8:05 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Welcome to Part 2 of our 1999 Movie Retrospective. The final year of the last century was one hell of a cinematic ride and it offered some outstanding films for lovers of cinema.

Now be aware that this is not a definitive list of the films released - it’s a brief rundown highlighting interesting films that should be seen (although not always for the right reasons).

You can check out the first part (A-e) here or continue reading to see the other gems that were released in 1999.

Fight Club

Fight Club was a box office disappointment ten years ago, but it has gained a Huge cult following since - and it must have made an absolute mint on DVD. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton star in this David Fincher directed adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s now-famous novel. The film is another example of world perspective from a late 90s view point. »

New Toy Story 3 Poster – Mr Potato. Head

Somehow I missed this one and let’s face it,  the set of Toy Story posters would most definitely not be complete if I didn’t give you this final character poster of Mr. Potato Head, voiced by Don Rickles.

You can check out the other posters in the related posts below and all of them are brilliant. Now all we need is the film which I cannot wait for. It’s out 23rd July and reunites Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger and Joan Cusack in another tale where Andy’s toys fight for their lives in some way, shape or form!

If you haven’t already, check out the new trailer here.

Toy Story Expansion: Cast and Run

13 October 2009 1:43 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

After the success the 3D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 has garnered over its originally planned two-week run, Pixar has announced that the showing will continue for at least another two weeks.

Given how well-received the first two Toy Story films were upon their original releases, and continue to be during their re-release run, it can be anticipated that the upcoming Toy Story 3 will be met with the same positive response. Along with keeping most of the characters we all know and love from the first and second Toy Story films, the cast of Toy Story 3 will be expanded to include some new characters and new voice talents.

In addition to Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their roles as Woody and Buzz, Toy Story 3 will also be making room in the cast for Kristen Schaal of Flight of the Conchords and Blake Clark of 50 First Dates. »

Toy Story Double Feature - “Scene Selection” Review

By Alex Cartman from Scene Selection

To Infinity….

Seeing films on the big screen is always a special event. Popcorn, a dark theater, and surround sound make the experience something not easily replicated. That’s why when Disney announced a rerelease of “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2” as a double feature, I was ready to buy my ticket. The films are part of the nostalgia of my childhood and enjoying seeing these great films with my whole family. That magic doesn’t exist by sitting on the couch watching the DVDs of these; it is about a full visceral experience. The opportunity to return to that memory and feeling is one in a million.

Buzz Lightyear and Woody are back for a 3rd adventure

What Disney did for this re-release is a step into the past of cinema, while opening the gate for revisiting old films. Before home video and on demand television, »
