First Trailer for Date Night Starring Steve Carell & Tina Fey

17 hours ago | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

20th Century Fox has debuted the teaser trailer for Date Night starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey as a married couple who go out on a romantic date and get caught up in some crazy shit. This also stars an excessive amount of other big name actors including (some of whom you'll see in the trailer): Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Kristen Wiig, Ray Liotta, Common, and Taraji P. Henson. There are some funny lines and funny moments and Mark Wahlberg has some impressive abs, but that's it. Most people will get a kick out if it, but personally I think this looks absurdly stupid. Oh well, have fun. ‘Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball’ Gets a Trailer

28 October 2009 11:30 AM, PDT | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Did you know that there was a sequel in the works for 2006’s Smokin’ Aces, with practically none of the original cast? Neither did we, until this trailer came across The Flickcast desk. It would be an interesting take, if it had any of the same people involved as the original film.

While the film doesn’t look like it will do much justice to Joe Carnahan’s original, the trailer was quite clever. It starts off by making sure we see some of our favorite faces from the original, such as Jeremy Piven, and then it throws a record scratch in to tell us that we won’t see them anymore.

Instead of a well-rounded cast consisting of Piven, Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Alicia Keys, and tons others, we now treated to the all-star cast of Vinnie Jones, Ernie Hudson, Tom Berenger, and the guy who had »

'GoodFellas' 20th Anniversary Blu-ray Art and Details

27 October 2009 6:07 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Has it really been 20 years since GoodFellas? Wow. Just think: Sam Jackson played Stacks in that film for a fleeting moment, and has appeared in 108 productions since. I'm not sure where I'd rank it all time, but GoodFellas is in the upper tier. In terms of crime films/mob movies, I don't think you can have a reputable top five list that excludes it. It's Scorsese at the peak of his powers, vintage De Niro, the perfect role for Joe Pesci, and somehow, an overlooked tour de force by Ray Liotta. And I haven't even mentioned "Layla" yet.

Warner Home Video will unveil the 20th Anniversary Blu-ray on February 16th. A cast and crew commentary is among the highlighted features. You'll also get a Henry Hill commentary, which features a former FBI agent, and three featurettes - Getting Made, Made Men: The GoodFellas Legacy, and The Workaday Gangster. On top of that, »

Based on Nicholas Pileggi's book Wiseguy, Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas is a wry, violent, and exhilarating film about the life of Henry Hill, an aspiring criminal who ends up in the FBI?s witness protection program after testifying against his former partners. Review of Youth In Revolt

25 October 2009 9:42 PM, PDT | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Year: 2009

Directors: Miguel Arteta

Writers: Gustin Nash & C.D. Payne (novel)

IMDb: link

Trailer: link

Review by: Hal MacDermot

Rating: 7.8 out of 10

Youth is Revolt is the screen adaptation of C.D. Payne’s cult book series charting the progress of the awkward, sex obsessed, super smart teen that is Nick Twisp. Michael Cera is made to inhabit this deadpan absurdist comedy world, a place where the teens are way more intelligent than the adults. It’s not an original take on life, but it’s probably how most teens think, so “whatever.” The strong supporting cast includes Steve Buscemi as Dad, and Zach Galifianakis as Jerry, one of his Mum’s pig boyfriends. Gustin Nash’s script feels slightly jerky, but suspending disbelief when you are laughing is usually easy.

Nick Twisp believes everyone is getting more sex than him, and he’s probably right. His separated parents certainly are. Buscemi is banging half-his-age-hottie Ari Graynor, »

Stars in Rewind: Alexander Skarsgard on a Frappuccino Joyride

12 October 2009 4:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

One of the silliest pleasures of revisiting older films is seeing actors in small roles, back before you had any idea who they were. Sometimes it's the only reason to watch something over again -- after all, why else would you rent 1990's Tales From the Darkside: The Movie if not to giggle at Julianne Moore being terrorized by a mummy controlled by Steve Buscemi, or pick up Leprechaun other than to mock the performance of the young Jennifer Aniston?

Sometimes the now-familiar faces pop up in stuff that's still worth watching, as with Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis on TV's Pee-Wee's Playhouse, or Johnny Depp in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. That's a bonanza. And when the earlier role is vastly different from the sort of thing they've settled in to playing now, it's all the more delightful.

Take, for example, Alexander Skarsgard, who sets hearts a-flutter »

Blu-ray Review: Observe and Report

7 October 2009 11:44 AM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Observe and Report is best described by a line of dialogue issued by a cop who hides in a closet at a key point where mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt (Seth Rogen) is about to get some devastating news. The cop and his partner, Detective Harrison (Ray Liotta) plan to take sick pleasure in Barnhardt’s failure, but he exits the closet mid-scene. “I thought this was going to be funny, but it’s actually kind of sad,” he says of the situation. Observe and Report is lined with moments of ridiculous humor, but in its approach to Barnhardt’s character takes more cues from Martin Scorsese’s dark Taxi Driver than screwball comedies like Superbad. The mix of comedy and humor could work incredibly well – thanks to Rogen’s solid performance that has the ability to make viewers laugh one second and truly care for the character the next »

First Look: Steve Carell & Tina Fey’s Date Night

1 October 2009 4:56 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Just looking at the first photograph from the upcoming Steve Carell and Tina Fey comedy, Date Night, makes me smile. Carell and Fey, the king and queen of NBC’s Thursday night comedy line-up, are both known for making even the most ridiculous of characters sympathetic and human (Fey’s Sarah Palin being the best example).  They’ve earned so much comedic credit along the way and they look cute together. Knowing that, I want to say this is sure to be the funniest movie of 2010.

Even better, they’re supported by a cast of standouts from both the comedy and dramatic world: Kristin Wiig, James Franco, Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg.

So then why aren’t I more enthused?

The story sounds solid enough; Carell and Fey play characters who have achieved the American dream: happily married with nice kids, a nice house, and a nice life. »

Blu-Ray Review: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris in Hilarious ‘Observe and Report’

1 October 2009 2:13 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – All of you DVD and Blu-Ray buyers who lament the neverending flow of slapstick comedies that basically all feel and look the same owe it to director Jody Hill and star Seth Rogen to rent or buy “Observe and Report,” one of the best comedies of the year to date and one of the most daring movies of the last several years.

Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0

The ads made “Observe and Report” look like nothing more than a variation on “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” or, even more inaccurately, a romantic comedy with Rogen and co-star Anna Faris. Audiences weren’t sure what to expect and, consequently, stayed away. “Observe and Report” should have been pitched to the arthouse crowd, one that could handle a film with extensive drug use, male frontal nudity, extreme violence, and even arguable date rape. This is material not for the faint of heart. It’s not a movie for everyone. »

The ridiculously star-studded comedy also features Mark Wahlberg, Leighton Meester, James Franco, Kristen Wiig, Mila Kunis, Ray Liotta, Taraji P. Henson, Common, and Olivia Munn. Oddly enough, this is simply a "promo image," not a still from the movie. It looks a lot like potential poster art, just without any of the words on it yet. See? First Photo from Date Night Starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey

If I had to guess, I'd say there's a very good chance that Shawn Levy's upcoming comedy Date Night will be a big hit. Not only does it bring together the stars of two of the biggest sitcoms on TV right now (The Office and 30 Rock), but it also has a supporting cast that includes James Franco, Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, Kristen Wiig, Mark Ruffalo, Ray Liotta and yes, even G4's Olivia Munn. Not to mention the fact that Shawn Levy has directed two of the highest grossing comedies of the past 3 years with Night At The Museum and its sequel. But will it actually be good? The script for Date Night, which was originally written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean's Thirteen, Knockaround Guys, Rounders), got an honourable mention from the 2008 Hollywood BBC Elite List as one of the best screenplays of the year. However, since »

A comedy starring both Steve Carell and Tina Fey is probably NBC's dream - free promo for their best sitcoms - and that one is coming true. Just to make it even better it also has Mark Ruffalo, James Franco, Mila Kunis, Ray Liotta and Mark Wahlberg. But they had me at Tina Fey - She's gorgeous, she's funny and she generates her own material. Add little nerdy glasses and it just can't get much hotter.
