He was producer, writer, lyricist, & composer for the Broadway version of his movie, "The Producers." Brooks won the 2001 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score (Music & Lyrics) Written For The Theatre. The show also won Tonys for Orchestration, Direction, Choreography, Lighting, Costume, Scenic Design, Featured Actress, Featured Actor, and Leading Actor. The cast album for "The Producers" won a 2002 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Brooks' voice makes a cameo in the show and on the cast album as the Nazi officer during the "Springtime For Hitler" number that sings "Don't be stupid, be a smarty. Come & join the Nazi party."

Appeared on the first Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

In 1964, he wrote the unsold pilot for proposed ABC TV comedy series called, "Inside Danny Baker".

"Robin Hood - Men In Tights" was released in 2005 as part of a multi-title "Mel Brooks" collection. Late last year, it was released again, independently of the other Mel Brooks titles.
