I love a diva. So when I saw that Fuse was doing a special titled Top 20 Divas earlier this evening at 6 p.m., I immediately set my DVR to record. Truly, I had no idea what I was getting into: Would this be a video countdown with commentary? A VH1-style special that features talking heads—and sometimes the divas themselves—talking about what makes these Top 20 divas so damned special? A mix of the two? Well, come to find out, it was just literally 20 videos from divas. But, honestly, it was one of the weirdest countdowns I've ever seen. »

I doubt he'll stretch out on the couch of The View like this.
Well, it would be irresponsible to speculate on the "why" of a change in direction from ABC at this point, but it appears that the alphabet network is ready to allow the out rocker back on its airwaves, in daytime, no less. Adam Lambert just tweeted that he will be interviewed and performing on The View December 10.
ABC hasn't put out a release yet, but Adam has - the power of Twitter.
Without a doubt, Adam will likely be watched closely, and it probably goes without saying that he'll sign one of those contracts we've heard about certifying that he won't deviate from his rehearsal. And I doubt we'll ever know whether ABC calmed down, GLAAD got through to them with their third public statement on the matter, or perhaps, Barbara Walters, who is a force to »

Fresh off the news that she had been nominated for eight prizes at the 2010 Grammy Awards (which will be held in Los Angeles on January 31, 2010), Taylor Swift once again found herself cruising around L.A. with Taylor Lautner. Swift makes her film debut alongside Lautner in the movie "Valentine's Day," which will hit theaters in February. Following some work on the film, the pair rolled out to Benihana for a meal. The pair's friendship has launched thousands of Web pages worth of speculation about their relationship (Swift cheekily referenced it during her hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live" last month). Though Swift continues to win awards, »

After years of inactivity, following his starring/directing turn in the 1990 Disney feature "Dick Tracy", actor/producer Warren 'Clyde Barrow' Beatty recently sued a unit of Tribune Co, to prevent Tribune from taking back film/TV rights to creator Chester Gould's newspaper comic strip detective character.
Budgeted at $47 million, "Dick Tracy" earned $103,738,726 domestic and $59,000,000 foreign for a worldwide box office of $162,738,726.
According to court documents, rights would revert to Tribune if "a certain period of time" lapsed without Beatty having produced another Dick Tracy movie, TV series or TV special.
Tribune sent Beatty a letter November 17, 2006, giving him two years to begin production on new "Dick Tracy" programing.
"Tribune asserted it still wanted to terminate Beatty's 'Tracy' Rights and effect a reversion, and purported to do so," the lawsuit said, with Beatty seeking a declaration that his work on a developing Dick Tracy documentary TV special precludes Tribune from »

The full list of nominations for the 2010 version of the Grammy Awards are out, delivered via Wednesday night's live telecast. But Nick Jonas grabbed the big headlines, as he debuted his new side project Nick Jonas and the Administration. The new combo performed a new song called "Who I Am," which comes from the album of the same name that will hit stores on February 2. "It definitely was different," Nick told MTV News about performing without his brothers. "But I think going into it, knowing they »

We’re ten years on in Guy Ritchie’s career, and from all evidence he’s about to turn the corner into pure commercial filmmaking. For most people there’s only one answer to what derailed him, and that is: Madonna. The pre-Madonna years featured Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch, the Madonna years featured Swept Away and Revolver, and the post-Madonna’s are now Rocknrolla and Sherlock Holmes, which should be one of the big pictures of 2009. My review of Guy’s Ritchie’s first film after this jump.
Lock, Stock is one of the numerous 90’s crime films to come in the wake of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. It’s a genre that burnt itself out rapidly, with only people like Bryan Singer and Christopher McQuarrie proving themselves above the fray. The majority of the genre was overheated pabulum like Things to Do »

Though Diddy is a born-and-bred New Yorker, the guy certainly gets around. He jets back and forth between coasts, is spotted all over Europe, regularly jaunts to islands and his upcoming album is called Last Train to Paris. It's gotten to the point where just about every city in the world can be considered home for the man born Sean Combs. That's why it wasn't surprising to see him in Miami yesterday. He dropped in to radio station Y100 to chat about his new album and his various other projects (including the latest on Day26 and Dirty Money). Last night saw the Broadway debut of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who reprised her role as Roxie Hart in "Chicago" (a part she first played in London back in 2006). While Ashlee has been busy preparing for the show and taking care of her son Bronx Mowgli (who just celebrated his first birthday), Jessica Simpson has been criss-crossing the planet for her upcoming reality show "The Price of Beauty," which is set to premiere on VH1 in 2010. “Good Morning America” keeps putting its foot in its mouth. Let’s recap, shall we? First, ABC’s morning program cancels Adam Lambert’s Nov. 24 appearance after the network receives more than 1,500 complaints following his salacious show-closer, “For Your Entertainment” on Nov. 22’s “American Music Awards.” CBS’s “The Early Show” quickly grabs Lambert, who performs without incident and manages not to repeat a man-on-man kiss or grind faces into his crotch simulating oral sex. Team Lambert goes on the offensive, basically accusing anyone who complains about his Ama appearance of being homophobic since no one raised such a fuss when Madonna and Britney... »

No more surprises, or at least fewer improvisations. In the wake of Lambertgate, ABC has reportedly decided to reconsider how it prepares for live broadcasts and plans to hold performers to stricter standards in the future.
Reuters reported that following Adam Lambert's much-discussed performance at the American Music Awards last month — in which he kissed another man on the mouth, thrust a male dancer's head into his crotch and led two dancers on leashes — the network is seeking more control over how live events are structured.
Disney/ ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney said that the network will now ask artists for assurances that their stage show will resemble their rehearsals and that ABC will seek contractual obligation to make sure artists stick to those plans. »

Lil Mama got a bit of a bad rap after she jumped up on stage during Jay-z's performance with Alicia Keys at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Sure, she wasn't invited up on stage while the duo performed "Empire State of Mind," but at least she didn't confiscate the microphone the way another Vma party crasher did earlier in the evening. Following the incident, she said that she was so overcome with the awesomeness of the song (and of Brooklyn, her home borough) that she couldn't help but join Jigga and Keys. Mama should be cut a break, partially because she is responsible »

Lights. Cameras. Birthday Action (for this, the 30th of November). Only one month left to go and it's 2010. How crazy is that?
Ridley, Terrence (in the 70s) and Marc
1835 Mark Twain's books have been adapted into movies ever since the movies began. Most notably The Prince and the Pauper and any tale of Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer
1920 Virginia Mayo 40s and 50s star, frequent Danny Kaye foil
1926 Richard Crenna, character actor
1927 Robert Guillaume, "Benson"
1929 Dick Clark, seemingly immortal creature who may finally be destroyed by the rise of his spiritual offspring Ryan Seacrest. It's all very Cronos vs. Zeus, only without the thunderbolts
1937 Ridley Scott, manly director whose movies are usually way better when they're shot through with a strong female presence. Consider the three classics: Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Alien. The rest of the filmography surely has its moments but that's the trinity right there.

A Serious Man may be getting rave reviews – but it's like nothing the Coens have made before. Joe Queenan on weird one-offs and the directors who make them
About halfway through the very funny, very disturbing, very ethnic new film A Serious Man, the modern-day Job who is the serious man in question climbs up on to the roof of his ghastly 1960s Minneapolis suburban home and tries to adjust the antenna to improve his TV reception. Beleaguered on all fronts – conjugally, professionally, medically – Larry Gopnik, a dorky physics professor who may be about to lose his job and is very likely to lose his family, is a bright, principled Jewish man whose children have begged him to fix the antenna so they can watch F Troop, an idiotic 1960s comedy. Many of Larry's travails unfold as songs from Jefferson Airplane's seminal 1967 LP Surrealistic Pillow play in the background. »

He had Hollywood at his feet at the age of 25. So why has Rupert Everett never lived up to that early promise? Here, the outspoken actor talks about homophobia, deranged A-listers and why Madonna isn't speaking to him
Can anyone look more world weary than Rupert Everett? At certain points in the interview, he gives the impression of having been in the acting game since at least the dawn of time, if not before. These are eyes that have seen it all – glittering success, abject failure, critical acclaim, the best reviews on earth, the worst. But then, at times, his career trajectory has resembled the cardiogram of a 60-a-day, overweight smoker: up, down, up, critical, dead, alive again! He was a star at 22, a has-been at 30, a Hollywood ingenue at 40, and here he is again, aged 50, still handsome, still game, gadding around in the new St Trinian's film in a »

"Bad Girl" performed by Madonna, was released as the third single from her 1992 studio album "Erotica", February 1993 on Maverick Records.
The video was directed by David "Fight Club" Fincher, previous collaborator on Madonna's "Express Yourself", "Oh Father" and "Vogue" music videos.
"Bad Girl" featured Madonna as 'Louise Oriole', an alcoholic Manhattan executive with a penchant for one-night stands, distracted by cigarettes, cocktails and random hook-ups. Christopher Walken plays a guardian angel and Matt Dillon is a crime scene cop.
Madonna only performed the song once, during an appearance on "Saturday Night Live", January 1993...

Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert continued to generate controversy Thursday after CBS blurred the image of him kissing a male band member during his performance at the American Music Awards Sunday night. Lambert had been invited to appear on CBS's The Early Show after ABC dropped him from its competing Good Morning America. During a discussion of other controversial TV appearances, the CBS show did not similarly blur an image of Madonna and Britney Spears kissing at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Following the CBS telecast, Jarrett Barrios, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, said that the decision "reinforces an unfortunate double standard that is applied to openly gay performers." He noted that the "kiss was not blurred on ABC nor in news coverage on other networks." CBS responded that the Madonna-Spears kiss "is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. »

When it comes to "American Idol" Adam Lambert's same-sex kiss at the American Music Awards, the hosts of "The View" are frighteningly prescient.
The women of "The View" wondered why the more scandalous parts of Lambert's act were censored while video of a kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears at the 2003 Video Music Awards has been widely circulated on network television.
No, they weren't talking about CBS' blurring of the kiss on "The Early Show" during a segment on Lambert. In that case, CBS defended showing an unblurred clip of Madonna kissing Britney Spears by saying that video had been "widely disseminated."
(As opposed to, we suppose, the millions of people talking about Lambert's performance.)
No, they meant the ABC West Coast feed of the American Music Awards, during which parts of Lambert's performance were censored. Viewers elsewhere in the country saw a live feed of the ceremony, and »

When it comes to same-sex kisses, it looks like CBS is on board... as long as both parties are women.
During an "Early Show" segment on "American Idol" Adam Lambert's same-sex kiss during the American Music Awards, CBS blurred a picture of the kiss. It then showed un-blurred pictures of Madonna kissing Britney Spears.
Ironically, Lambert had agreed to appear on "The Early Show" after ABC's "Good Morning America" cancelled a planned performance by Lambert in the wake of the controversy.
"We gave this some real thought," a CBS representative explained to Extra. "The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences."
Considering all the hubbub, we'd be willing to call the Lambert kiss image "widely disseminated. »
