Thanks for calling me out francesca_designstyle! Looking back my post does sound a bit snobbish, sorry. I do live in a big city where I have the option to go to several independently owned video stores that carry all the DVDs that I could hope for. I forget that it's not as easy in some places. But I'd like to hope that lots of smaller cities have some options other than big conglomerate video stores that won't stock certain films or only after editing them. Growing up in a small town we didn't even have a Blockbuster, just one mom & pop convenience store with a small selection of videos. But this is still where I discovered Wim Wenders and other non-mainstream films. If people ask for their smaller local stores to stock more "indie" films you just might be in luck (and even able to request specific titles). Or else, you can subscribe to an online DVD club (zip.ca in Canada for instance).
Anyways, I'm sounding preachy again. Good luck to everyone who wants to find good movies. :)
